Go here for lots of information from the last 2 weeks and last year.

http://www.salomonjibacademy.com/others/bl...?cod=jib0708_us

This event for park skiers is the one to come out to hang out with Xgames pros, USOpen Finalists and Film celebritites. (Mark Abma, Matt Walker, John Symms, Keri Herman, Michael Clarke, Nick Martini and a few others will be there as well, nips, seany pat, brogan) While it is unfortunate that SNO has not apparently built anything close to what has been at the other stops last year, this should still be a cool event to come to. Its not some autograph session, its a jam, shred session.

So far there is about 40 registered, with 90 openings

So, if you are 16 and under then register, IT IS FREE!

http://registration.mtsports.com/
Papasteeze
I just got word that there are now 50 registered! Be there by 8:30 am sharp to be split into groups at 9am Don't be late. Lunch is included.
Papasteeze
So who is going?

Nips cracked a rib jumping the pipe deck at Hunter, not sure if he is skiing Saturday. The doc put the scare in him about possibly puncturing a lung if he wrecks again.
Glenn
OMG

In other news, sure I'll bump your thread.

hahaha.. Thanks man.

Salomon does a great job with who they select to ride for them. They really like the outgoing, yet approachable personalities. so with that, riding with these guys in a local setting makes it all that much better.

I just wish they would build some decnt jumps so kids have something to show off on. Rails and boxes are plateauing and chances are that our local kids are as good or better than these pros on the rails.
GrilledSteezeSandwich
Parents if your kid is under age 16..drop them off with Papasteeze..

punctured lungs arent that bad. you can be skiing in a week again.

sorry to hear about Steven. And Doug, leave him alone. He's taken runs with my kids and tried to help them improve.

Talk to him.. he is a little gun shy right now. He fell on a box the following day and it took the wind out of his sails. He hasn't really had any injuries to deal with

its a hairline crack.

Ski and GSS-

Are either of you ctually ATTENDING the SALOMON JIB ACADEMY ??????

If not,
Why the HELL do you two continue to STALK people and post shit that doesn't CONTRIBUTE to anything.

The mods should take notice that these guys are turning people off to this site.

Before you guys launch your sarcastic jabs and internet tough guy acts,

why don't you actually think about posting something POSITIVE or just not posting anything at all.

As far as attacking me,
take it to PM or feel free to meet me on the mountain to discuss.
Glenn
Why not just let him heal? He's young, it will heal fast and he has plenty of time to make a name for himself. It's not like this year is crucial. I wouldn't want a punctured lung regardless of recovery time.

Hey, TTC6, huge text is lame. If you want to yell, you can just post all caps, we get it. The large text just makes you look like an interweb gaper.

hey just some info...sno has about a 20' table up top that you can def throw some decent spins and flips. I watched it happen during the rev tour...not all the tricks were hucked off the jump even tho i saw alot of them huck some 9's. Also a 35' table is in the process of being built now and may be hittable by tomorrow night but not a guarentee. It looks like its going to be a really nice jump... The sweet spot on it is probably going to be 40-45 ish with plenty of more room of steap landing left, so kids will have plenty of time to throw some of their best tricks on that too.

Why not let him heal? It is up to him whether he wants to throw down and quite frankly with the small jumps, I hope he doesn't huck some crap and wrecked. He is really bummed out .. Not sure if that makes sense..... In other words, bigger jumps are safer for kids at that level.

Dan-
He could just take it easy. I had to do it for the better part of the beginning of the season because of my arm. No need to always be throwing down huge, especially if there's an injury involved. Im sure it'll still be a good time.

Rob, all history between us aside for a moment. Just parent to parent here. Okay?

Are you crazy? It's up to him? Who is the fucking parent? Sure, pneumothorax can have different levels of severity and an air leak can seal itself, but a collapsed lung is a serious condition and can also be life-threatening.

"If air continues to enter the pleural space, a tension pneumothorax occurs. The large amount of air may push the center of the chest toward the other lung, compressing it. This is life-threatening and requires immediate insertion of a chest tube between the ribs to relieve the increased pressure."---Oregon State Health Dpt.

I'm actually astonished. Did you really take him to a doctor (near Hunter?) and have an x-ray? Or is this just baloney. Jesus, I hope you're just bullshitting here.

"The doc put the scare in him about possibly puncturing a lung if he wrecks again." Didn't that put any sort of scare in you? I would rather believe you are lying about the accident happening and are trying some Curt Schilling fake bloody sock stunt than believe you'd risk a child's life.

BTW, if it's true, then you are putting both SJA and Sno Mountain at some risk of lawsuit by your son and his mom, I'd imagine. Even as adult racers, we often sign a form saying we don't have medical problems which could be made worse by competing.

Rob, I could even understand a senior in high school wanting to play in a state championship football game, but Steven is a little kid with zero judgement in matters like this.

Lastly, I would NEVER try to intercede other than to appeal to you.

parent to parent. Practice what you preach... or pot calling the kettle black..?

don't you have all kinds of injuries that could be made worse if you fall again? was that you, who tweaked stuff in the past and then came on here to say how you didn't ski well because of those injuries?

It's cracked rib ski. if he slips out on an invert and lands on his head he could also break his neck. It is up to him whether he wants to ski, as it stands now he will likely just be cruising around and hanging out. no worries.

He went to a general here for x-rays and then a sports specialist here at home. You know what a cracked rib is and so do I. He competed both days after falling and was fine, it was nagging him on monday so we went and had it looked at, lo and behold, a small hairline fracture.

This is for a traumatic injury most often seen in the ederly. There is no reason to fear monger unless you have some type of ulterrior motive here. Just so you are informed.. read on.

i would suggest wings since he likes to fly. or maybe supply him with Red Bull. in both cases, he will get wings and not have the problem again of flying through the air out of control.
Ski
As I said, Rob, since you can't seem to fucking read, it's not an issue with adults or even 17 yr old kids about to play in a championship game, but a small child who is barely a teenager.

By your own words, you are going against the doctor's advice in a case involving a child. By your own words, you've left a potentially serious medical decision up to a little boy. You said all this shit, not me.

But it pretty much sounds like you'rem just full of baloney. I've had cracked and broken ribs a dozen times and it's a bitch just trying to roll out of bed (yes, even as a teenager). My sense is that you took him for an x-ray and it was nothing, but you like the drama. At least. that's what I hope. BTW, I'm sitting in my wife's library next to an ER nurse who says that you would be making a big mistake by allowing him to ski under these circumsatnces. But, of course, everyone in the world is a liar, except you.

Then your own doctor fear mongered, as you put it. Does he have alterior motives? Or does he just have strong concerns about a child's welfare? And you are correct that it's from a traumatic injury---such as a ski accident---but age has NOTHING to do with it other than older people generally have more fragile bones. So it's more common in athletes and the elderly. Duh.
