DO U EVER TRY TO BUILD RAILS? I DO AND TRY TO SLID THEM AND IT WOULD WORK A LOT BETTER IF IT HAD THAT FIBER GLASS STUFF ON THE TOP. BUT I DONT NO WAT ITS REALLY CALLED SO I CANT FIND IT. I TRIED PVC BUT IT IS HARD TO BUILD WITH. I USE PLYWOOD BUT IT EVENTUALLY ROTS. ANY INFO ON THE NAME OF THE FIBER GLASS STUFF PLEASE REPLY.

its a form of plexiglass, and its called lexan.

ive used this stuff from home depot its the material they make showers and bath tubs outa. you can buy it in sheets for bout 20 dollars it works and is cheaper the plexi glass

Welcome Line Ski!! there are several plastics available. Lexan is the most popular and can be picked up at home depot.

Why don't you want to build them out of all metal? Too heavy/expensive?

Just call you local one up, all of them have it or at least the ones i have delt with.

I have heard that this stuff works better than lexan for box tops. I just ordered 12 feet X 1 foot of it on ebay for 28 bucks. Great deal. Heres the auction if anyones interested thers still 7 sheets of 24"x24" and it cuts as easy as wood im told. Anyone ever use this stuff?

HDPE is awsome, I've never use it for rails/boxes but it should work good. You can also get HDPE pipes that might work good for coping, and it is fairly flexible so you could bend it around a c-box or such. And it dosen't get brittle in the cold like pvc. You could check out plastic suppliers for prices, and they may have scrap cheap.
