The lifts were open! 3/12/10

Just because there's a million threads about the lifts not running they spun today in the rain and fog until 5pm. I was up a little after 2, you couldn't see more than a chair in front of you and it was drizzling with no more than 15 people on the mountain. It was nice riding in minimal visibility without a soul in sight in soft spring cord this afternoon. It had a unique vibe to it you don't often get at Camelback.

This past week at C'back brought out the dreaded springtime "Grabbies" where, when I was just skiing along in the flats, all of a sudden, it feels like the skiis just want to stop & you are thrown forward. This became most pronounced when skiing out of the shade and into snow that was in the sun. Does anyone else experience this? Do you have a solution? Do I need to wax with warmer wax? Do I need a more open base structure?

JF TR 3-13-10

We didn't last long but I'd say there were no more than 15 people other than staff at JF today. One of my guys taking the freebies cancelled and I waited until 830 freebie in hand for the other one but didn't see him.

Lots of brown showing. Glades are rough, as are bumps at bottom of exhibition. East mt was sooo windy I went back to the other side. Went down challenge to find out the quad was not running. Hiked back over to the triple.

Got the opportunity to do some runs down snowflake with Stephen so he could show me his skills at going backwards and down on one ski. That was fun to watch.

Did Janes Lane and Lehigh for the first time this season just to mix it up a bit. Mostly stayed on exhibition and one park.

Left at 11, just getting too windy. The rain didn't seem that bad but soaked through my pants so it was time to go.

Probably my last day at JF for season. We had a great season there and the race program was well worth the money. Coaches are so nice and work well with the kids.

Going to Vegas in late March....

My friend is organizing a trip to Vegas in late March for a Thursday to a Sunday. It looks like about 10 people are coming including several women and we are staying at the Hard Rock hotel. The only bad thing is that I might miss the last weekend at Blue. Anybody here been to Vegas??? Any advice?? I don't want to see tourist crap like the Hoover dam. I want to hit some hot clubs, lounge at the pool, eat gourmet food and play some cards. Cheap flight, cheap hotel and a solid crew for my first trip to vegas.....as long as I don't max out my credit cards it should be a solid trip.

Season Updates

We have had a couple good days for opening and now are getting blessed with 5" to 8" of fresh, dry powder. We opened most of the trails today, the major exceptions being Sasquatch and Extreme. We will have those open on Sunday or Monday.

Tom is planning major park construction projects for Saturday or Sunday nights depending on the weather.
The majority of the 10 day looks really positive so we should be able to lay down a great base over the coming days.

Alien Invasion

What is the deal with the alien invasion this year? I went today and they gave me a comp pass for having a JFBB season pass but they also gave me a camel card but the ladies working in guest services did not seem to know much about it. This year do they just give you a free camelcard then you have to use that and just get the discount from the camel card, instead of getting a free pass everytime?

Booked another cruise in May!

So we're cruising yet again... this time with another couple. Same boat as in December and same itinerary. Sadly no suite this time though. $500.00 more in a warm weather month when we should be able to use the pool deck didn't seem worth it to me. Hopefully we'll get to see the private island this time and also hopefully we'll get to see the shuttle launch that is scheduled the day of our departure. Time to ramp up the workouts and book some tanning. Ugh.

Another Day in Paradise 12/12

I got to Blue mountain at 4:20 and the temperature was 29 degrees at the bottom lot. I first skied two fast runs down Paradise, then I did a run on lazy mile to the Falls. I then skied 7 runs with Atomic Jeff including two Paradise runs, Two Lazy Mile to falls combos, one Main Street run, a Raceway-Midway-lower Main Street-Shuttle to Terrain park and the last run I did was Main Street to the terrain park. That run I did the left side lip to the step up jump and still landed kind of flat. I told Jeff to watch me do the light up box and I yelled out "Disco Inferno" as I skied over the box doing no trick at all but flapping my arms in the air. That box is like soul train in southern Carbon county. Jeff then went home and I did three more runs on Main Street, Lazy Mile, and a last one on Paradise. The one ski patrol dude was to busy yelling at kids for skiing on the side of the trail to see me blast by him. I listened to that stupid Paul Wall/ Nelly song about diamond in your teeth that I was loving 3 days ago but now I'm sick of and then got some chinese food back in the A. Tonight was defintely mad Skittles and I'm not talking about the tropical ones either. Today was mad sugar yo.

Hello everybody,

Since I joined PASR 4+ years ago, I have taken part in several gaper days. They are always a good time, essentially you dress up in gaper gear and drink drink beer. I am announcing Saturday March 13th as gaper day at Blue mountain. I'm guessing Blue will stay open into April but this date seems like a good time to have it as I will be away the following weekend. Is anybody gonna be able to make that date??? It will be a mad steezy good time!!!!
