  1. Oh, hello everybody. Toast here. We are back from a day of skiing Snowbird, here in Utah. We left at 8:05 and parked around 8:35. The ride up was uneventful, but it was fairly cloudy with a fog layer in the SLC valley. Dan had coffee on the ride. Jeff drank water. When we got there, we got our lift tickets and got out on the snow. First ride up was up Peruvian because Jeff can't take a tram for some reason. Started out cloudy at the bottom with low visibility, but as we rose it got super heavy and dank. Could barely see. We skied down Chip's Run to Rothman Way to get over to the Gadzoom lift since that is a little lower and had better visibility. By that time, we could start to see the sun break up the clouds. Ended up taking a few runs over here like Bassackwards and Black Forrest while popping in the trees in and around there. After spending time there, we took a few runs off of Gad 2, and then worked our way over to Little Cloud to get our Johnson's Regulated. That groomer was fun to rip right down and the moguls on the side had a nice coating on them to rip through. Yolo. Soon after, we headed back to Mineral Basin before the sun baked it by heading to my favorite conveyor belt ski lift. We ended up taking a few runs in there. One down Blue by You above a cliff band and another down the 49er Gully (I think) and somehow I ended up in one of the Chamonix Chutes which was a little boney by the snow was good. Jeff and Dan ended their day shorty after and I met them at the top of the tram for a nice frosty beverage after taking another run back down Chip's, to Chip's Face, and then something else back to the tram and up. Overall, it was a pretty damn good day. I'm surprised how good the snow stayed in the trees and even the groomed trails. Good day wit dem boyz.

  5. Poor baby....are you used to skiing at camelback or something? I know that they close when it snows. The rest of us love that shit.... Suck it up Nancy, put your man pants on those snow guns sound better than that Neil Diamond blasting in your ears anyway .....lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. If you need lift beers, hit the Pharmacy in the Snowbird Center. If you need a beer to end the day, hit the Tram Club in the Snowbird Center, get the shot and mug combo . If you want to get weird, hit P-dog up the access road towards Alta a bit in the Peruvian Lodge.

  10. Hey All, I’m back from a fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 630 in the PM and it was in the upper 20s with the snowmaking cannons blasting on at least 6 runs including Razors, Challenge, Lower Park, Paradise, Widowmaker and random spots. In the house were Indiggio, Antman and SaltyAnt along with 20+ buses. First run was lazy mile to the falls..lazy wasn’t that crazy and the falls was slick..homestretch was so busy it was insane and the sugar was deep but kind of fun and I got air off a few of the rollers..woo. Main Street was blown smooth on the top half..semi edgeable hardpack upper and some light sugar on the bottom. Paradise was alright and it as busy possibly due to wet guns going on the lower section. On the second run on paradise SP3000 was out in full force and I got whistled at on first corner and second corner I got whistled at and even at a ski patroller not on skis charge towards me..it was as exhilarating as the smell of waffles and teen spirit in the air. I ended up skiing 8 runs in about an hour and a half then went to the lot and had a beer with Indiggio. Wasn’t great conditions wasn’t bad..was ok..a nice little ski fix to hold me over until the weekend.

  13. The Private Funicular "One of the world’s coolest ski lifts is, without doubt, the private personal funicular lift. This lift links the remarkable Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa, Switzerland to the local ski slopes about half a mile away. Hotel guests use an electronic lift ticket which calls the two-carriage mini train to the bottom or top station if it is not already waiting there, with each cabin’s roof opening like a sports car to allow entry. It’s all very James Bond. This winter, the Tschuggen Grand opened another spectacular lift that links the resort’s slopes to those of its larger neighbouring resort Lenzerheide, creating a huge 225km ski region."

  14. The groomer skiing today at Deer Valley was superb. I did, in fact, "ski the difference". DV is no JH, and a lot of the terrain is in the dark first thing in the AM. By about 11:30 or so it was very sunny and could really let them run. We skied from 9 to 1 exploring the mountain from left to right. DV has sooooo many freakin lifts. I believe we counted 14 different lifts ridden today. Conditions were insanely good, beyond grippy. The first couple runs I had to readjust my skiing to avoid over hooking the ski. Dan grabbed a baked potatoe at the base while we did a couple more runs. We then rode the funicular to the St. Regis for a couple of cocktails and some food.

  18. Limited terrain isn’t helping either. We wouldn’t be on paradise as much if NM/DW and Razors was open. Hopefully soon [emoji1694] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. That had to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen at Blue, a patroller running out of the last corner to get right in front of GSS to try to stop him! It was all I could do to stop laughing, as I could just see in my mind GSS running into the guy and taking him out. The patroller and GSS went left, I went around to the right and chuckled the rest of the way to the 6.

  25. The twist, turns, double fall lines, and secluded-in-the-woods feel all make it great.

  26. Blue has no love for that trail, but it's the most fun since it follows the contours of the mountain. I think all the snowmaking on it is the old manual guns, so I'm sure the snowmakers hate it, having to check the snow quality/adjust the guns periodically. I know the groomers don't like it much either because of all the turns and drops, which makes it great for sliding.

  27. Blue should install one to get from the valley to the summit lodge.

  32. The 'Bird is a pretty cool place. Whoever described it as a Mini-Jackson was dead on. The chutes through the rocks, the steeps, then wide open terrain. I would love to ski there on a pow day to rip some of the huge faces they have. Snow was still soft and very chalky everywhere except Mineral Basin which was starting to get a bit too much sun. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'bird and would go back. So much terrain to explore.

  33. Should really focus the guns on the still closed trails during skiing hours, especially prime weekend times, unless they have capacity to make snow on every trail at oi nf

  34. When are you and Salty going to move in together?
    2 points
  35. I don’t know I talked to you and Indiggio plenty last night..harden the fuck up saltlick. It would be even more inconvenient to wait for natural snow to fall in abundance before skiing.

  36. Switchback is the absolute shit. Top three trail at Blue. Blue opens their best stuff last unfortunately.
    2 points
  37. Typically after a good storm the groomers will leave Switchback ungroomed, which makes it even better and a ton of fun, the way it should be!

  40. Tonight was pretty sick. Skied all of Ski2Live's favorite runs, Main St, Paradise and the Lazy Mile to Falls. Tried Burma and it was atrocious, like just like the real Burma March. Then met up with the 2 best skiers on the mountain, Grilled Steeze and Indiggio, and they let me get a head start (Steeze read the entire book "War and Peace" beforehand) on the Laziest of Miles and passed me like literal human blurs. It was pretty insane, they are damn good skiers. It was crowded earlier but cleared out by 9 pm and I had the whole mountain to myself. Didnt even try to turn on the Falls because I think it was 100% ice is nice, so just went down straight full speed ahead. Homestretch sucked J.A.D.I.P.

  42. My knee is a mess, but i made it through skiing this morning. Called it quits a little early so i can ski again tomorrow. Really good morning, it would be way better without knee issues, but im here, and i plan on making the most of it. Deer Valley is the freindliest place i have ever been to. So many people told me to have a great day.
