  1. Post Utah recap. Knee issues. Limited range of motion, like stairs start to become a big issue. Thursday morning was rough. I found out right away the biggest issue was going to be the lift. Bending that knee to sit on the lift hurt like hell, and with a ski attached to it you dont have much choice but to sit like u are sitting in a chair. I figured out to let the chair push me almost off the platform, then sit down at the last minute, then i didnt have to bend my knee as much. Deer Valley - i have never been, never really on my radar with the posh treatment, but i really like the oppurtunity to check out new places. Sweet groomers. Big time speed runs. I think its true mostly pretty people ski there, and most wont venture off trail. I think the day after a storm, trees might still be good. I was just happy i could actually ski groomers, so nothing off trail for me. “The Bird” (day 2) I have been here a few times, and skied just about every condition possible. Powder day/sun, powder day/zero vis/97 mph winds (same storm that knocked out power to JHMR) and bluebird. So the Bird being the bird, the day starts with real low vis up top, so we made it down to gad valley area to where we could see. Clouds rolled out quicker than anticipated and it lead to a really nice day. Somehow i went from barely being able to walk in ski boots in the am, from the car to the base area, to actually feeling better, which i never would have imagined anyways, the Bird is still just a beast. If you are looking for big vert in one run, this is probably where you do it at. Real good day here, finished off with a nice beer on the deck at the top with the boys. Take time to absorb the view from there sometime. Celebrate the small victories in life Brighton - Bluebird, perfect temp, nice day. i forgot how much i love this place, and i am still in love with it. The whole place has the “blue parking lot vibe” to it. Smaller vert somewhere around 2k, but just super playful. Plenty of off tral stuff when the snow is good to keep those with ADD occupied. We skied this Sat, and it was actually kinda crowded, but we did a decent job of avoiding the longest lines by skiing off the Great Western. This was probably my best day knee wise. We dabbled around a little off trail, Toast found some stuff to jump off of, and i figured out with the knee thing im not super confident making quick turns on steeper, somewhat crudy stuff. I cant lift my leg high enough and bring that ski around, nor can i pressure that ski like i can my right. Brighton has super fun groomers with more character than i think anywhere else i have skied. They run through the trees, go up and down, twist and turn and always keep you looking around. I would say Brightons groomers could be like riding the coolest roller coaster ever. Finished off a great day at the miley lodge for a beer and some tater tots in the sun. Right close to the miley lodge is where the blue crew would set up with apres ski activities. I did not end up skiing into someones driveway this year. Alta (day 4) Cold start to the day. BTW, the collins lift opens at 9:15, so we had a little wait in the corral thinking it opened at 9. Once we got off the collins, we were in the sun, so we just stood there for a few absorbing some heat. Skied off the Supreme since thats where the sun was in the am. Met up with Ryan who was able to guide Toast and Aj to some better skiing being the local. Hiking and sidestepping werent going to bode well with my knee, and i wasnt going to put me or anybody else in a weird way thinking it would be a good idea for me to go with. We met back up at the lift, i stuck to the groomers and they found some other stuff to play in. We called it a day early afternoon. Day 4 and the legs were feeling it. Alta is a cool place, maybe something like a bigger brighton, or smaller snowbird. You always sort of have the feeling its a little agro there, like make sure your pass works or you will be trampled upon. Big shout out to Toast and AJ for letting me tag along. Good people to hang out with. I cant keep up with them at Blue, let alone anywhere else, but they made it work even with my busted wheel. I told them they could ditch me at anytime when they wanted to go explore. I was just happy i could actually ski, and ski something different than the rinse and repeat stuff we have going on at home. We skied the whole time on real snow that God dropped on Utah in great quantities. The only sugar out here went in my coffee. I spent the wait time at the airport this morning setting up Dr’s appointments to hopefully get my knee drained, so hopefully its better for Jackson Hole were we are just gonna get pounded with snow. Oh, and i thought Nmski was the most flatulent Pasr. Toast wears that crown. Dude just farts all the time.

  2. Yesterday was rad! I appreciate you guys welcoming and giving my cousin and brother in law a beer. Thank you. My brother in law taught me to snowboard 15+ years ago so you can thank him for having to deal with me . He likes beer, likes to grill and already mentioned he wished he bought a triple play instead of his single day ticket so he might make another appearance or two. Shoutout to @mute1080 for the eagles swag, thank you. As for the riding.... the snow was the best its been all season and its nice to have some fun side hits again. Life lines weren't too bad for the later half of the morning, maybe 5 minutes. we were riding the quad to save a couple minutes in the lift line and our second to last ride up it stopped 3-4 times and one of the stops being for a few minutes. Unfortunately the quad shut down quickly after at about 1245 (I believe) making the 6 packs entire carousal filled and that's when we wrapped it up. Probably for the better because my cousin and I had our fill and my brother in laws legs were feeling it by this point. Another great day or snow, fun and good people. 3 clips below, two from JF on Sat and one for the parking lot. Pretty happy with the first clip as I don't do a lot of jumps but am just starting to get comfortable on them now.

  7. I’m in love with Alta, and I can’t imagine how great it is on a low day. Hiking for those turns today was more than worth it. I’d come back for sure. Great skiing with @JFskiDanand @AtomicSkier out here. Thanks to Jeff for stopping at the end of the chute for that great shot of me in the chute in East Baldy.

  8. 100% worth it. Already got out more than what I paid. And friends get 25% off. Winning for everyone on this Utah trip. Will do the same in JH in March.

  9. Since i was in utah, i wasnt watching data from the beltsville bouy. The diaper exploded at high alttitude on sunday. Look for some precip, maybe even our favorite kind this weekend. Might wanna be clearing your schedule for pow skiing or getting the arc ready.

  10. I'd probably alternate seasons between Blue and Camelback if not for PASR. Camelback has good runs and an easy drive, but distinctively lacks parking lot socials with a karaoke machine and, of course, Sausage Sunday. Plus at Blue I never know if I'll get to ride the lift with a celebrity, like Nastar Glenn.

  11. Blue had more new snow then Alta, sure. Did Alta have more snow? Sure. We met up with Ryan at Alta today for some turns. He gave us a rowdy tour of the place. We sidestepped/traversed all the way out to Eddie’s High Nowhere/East Greeley bowl which had variable conditions at the bottom. We also skied Spiney Chutes in Catherine’s which was heavy, but soft snow. Towards the end of our day, we saw someone skiing down East Baldy with no other tracks to be seen. Up the mountain we went. 15 minutes later we made some great turns through a chute that lead to some glorious wind buffed pow. Ryan and I look the same in photos. I have the brighter blue pants.

  14. After an awesome perfect trip in terms of travel, we had a slight delay out of ORD because of an antenna issue and ended up departing about 20 minutes late. Near Slippery Rock, PA the cabin altitude started to climb indicating a pressurization issue. We descended at ~4000ft/min down to 10,000 ft. Some worried passengers, but all I cared about was that we didn't divert 😂

  19. Now that Toast and I have used our IKON passes....it's better than having to go to the window even once. Most IKON resorts are direct to lift with your pass. Scroll down for the short list of "go to the window" resorts. https://www.ikonpass.com/en/how-to-use-your-ikon-pass Deer Valley required getting a ticket (1 or more days, didn't matter) because they don't have automated gates.

  20. What about all the people with second homes at camelback and Jack Frost/BB...anyway a hotel is needed. Who would want to have a wedding somewhere without accommodations. Crazy.

  27. Skijoring is pretty fun! Traffic was awful since it was a powder day. Took us 3 hours to get to Frisco when it should have taken less than 2. My friend and I planned to get up there early before the class and snowshoe. There wasn’t time for anything long so we just went to a trail at the edge of town so I could walk the dog a little. There were several large female moose hanging around the parking lot so I had to keep him on his leash. There were 5 of us in the class and the first half of class all the dogs wanted to play and everyone was getting wrapped up in leashes and falling down, including myself. By the end, the dogs started to get the hang of it. But when we were standing around I quickly learned I had to be in a dug in snow plow because at any given moment my dog could want to run after something. The equipment is less than $100 so I am going to buy a setup and take him to local places. There were times he was running so fast I couldn’t ski I just tried to stay upright and he was doing all the work. Group shot the instructor took. I have never seen my dog more tired. He totally crashed in the car as soon as I loaded him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  31. Yep we are a pretty good deal, but $1200 isnt for a whole wedding - they are asking for a 45 min to 1 hr set at a charity function. Expect we will give them the full hour, as once all set up we like to play.

  33. My lack of interest in a vaca property at a place I can drive to in 90 min with so so skiing and no interesting activities most of the year has nothing to do with price - though now that you mention it, I expect they are asking a lot more than it would cost for a place in the Skills or SVt. If I bought a vaca property, I would want one that would enable me to enjoy higher quality activities than are available to me as convenient day trips from where I already own property. Same reason I would never consider getting a place at the Jersey shore - which is 45 min from my house. I already own property sufficiently close to both.

  35. Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot around 720am with snow falling and a temperature in the lower 20s. Somewhere between a skiff and a coating of new snow had fallen. In the house were Johnny Law, MBIke Mike, Nastar NMSki, Glenn, Salty, Ryan, Mute, TP4, Shadows, Antman, Matt Edge, Indiggio, Rodney, Slim, GahSkier George and many others. First civilan six pack..Main Street was the bomb deezy..was a western groomer with titty sparkles on top. Repeated that for second run and still had swaths of untracked skiff of perder on the upper half...woo woo woo...Paradise had decent snow and wasn’t that busy initially. I only skied lazy mile once..was nice that the race team got the falls again. I ended up skiing about ten runs total and the snow stayed decent and no real liftkines but after i stopped skiing the quad apparentenly had issues but I’m school the part is coming priority mail from Slovenia so all good. Another fun parking lot with donuts, beer and 90s music...high five for stoke!!!!

  43. Not sure what we were thinking with the pizza. I'm a good eater and i managed to only put down 3 slices of mine. Not sure if Antman has some type of mental telepathy healing powers but my knee felt pretty damn good yesterday, and after skiing for a good portion of the day, i could almost walk like a normal human being. Way better range of motion to where i can actually sit on the lift without making funny faces in pain. First day i was a little worried this wasnt going to pan out. I still probably need to stick to mostly groomed stuff, but i might be able to dabble a little off trail today to see how things shake out. I am thankful for at least two things, Naproxen and a hot tub. We are heading to possibly my favorite place, Brighton. I love that place. Super cool chill vibe to the place. Weather looks like another bluebird day. Great trip so far, minus the knee thing, good friend, good times. .

  45. Oh, hello everybody. Toast here. We are back from a day of skiing Snowbird, here in Utah. We left at 8:05 and parked around 8:35. The ride up was uneventful, but it was fairly cloudy with a fog layer in the SLC valley. Dan had coffee on the ride. Jeff drank water. When we got there, we got our lift tickets and got out on the snow. First ride up was up Peruvian because Jeff can't take a tram for some reason. Started out cloudy at the bottom with low visibility, but as we rose it got super heavy and dank. Could barely see. We skied down Chip's Run to Rothman Way to get over to the Gadzoom lift since that is a little lower and had better visibility. By that time, we could start to see the sun break up the clouds. Ended up taking a few runs over here like Bassackwards and Black Forrest while popping in the trees in and around there. After spending time there, we took a few runs off of Gad 2, and then worked our way over to Little Cloud to get our Johnson's Regulated. That groomer was fun to rip right down and the moguls on the side had a nice coating on them to rip through. Yolo. Soon after, we headed back to Mineral Basin before the sun baked it by heading to my favorite conveyor belt ski lift. We ended up taking a few runs in there. One down Blue by You above a cliff band and another down the 49er Gully (I think) and somehow I ended up in one of the Chamonix Chutes which was a little boney by the snow was good. Jeff and Dan ended their day shorty after and I met them at the top of the tram for a nice frosty beverage after taking another run back down Chip's, to Chip's Face, and then something else back to the tram and up. Overall, it was a pretty damn good day. I'm surprised how good the snow stayed in the trees and even the groomed trails. Good day wit dem boyz.
