Super windy day on Sat. Went in with zero expectations. I thought conditions were pretty good for the rain/temp drop we had. Grip was there, but now and then it wasn't. The wind was rough. You were always looking to go faster. Wind took all the snow off the top of Challenge. Sunday was just cold. 15 in the lot when I rolled in. No real wind today. New ungroomed man made at the top of Main was a treat. Much better than yesterday. There is a decent size booster on Challenge that will put you in the danger zone if you don't know it's there. No speed limits today.. It was a big race weekend with fencing everywhere and lots of race people.6 points

February 3rd 2025 Day 6 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole. The snow report indicated 15” new in the last 24 hours but only 6” overnight. Overnight it was in the 30s and rainy in town and a massive amount of snow melted and I didn’t even go to the bagel place much to atomic Jeff’s dismay cause I didn’t want my shoes to get all wet. We arrived at the hill at 810am and got into the singles line and waited and waited and waited some more and right before 11am the gondola finally opened. First run to Thunder via Amphitheater was untracked and slightly tracked thick crud..a couple inches of it. Up thunder and grand was a little better..lots of untracked but I haven’t skied this kind of sierra cement much so was trying to stay in control. Sublette was closed due to high winds and we went back to Thunder which had a massive liftline so took marmet to the woods we skied the other day. Untracked of course but a lot more effort to make short turns through tight spaces. Up Marmet again to a similar run and then I skied lower tram line to the base and that was it. The longest short ski day ever..Me and atomic Jeff went to the mangy and Dan and Nazareth Jay did another couple runs. I like powder, nice spring snow and groomed..bumps as well but not a huge fan of sierra cement…some like Johnny law will say you can really slut it up in that but not like in pow pow. So I’ll say it was a new snow day not a powder day like the previous two. I still have an afterglow from yesterday’s Hobacks. So im actually hoping it doesn’t snow overnight or just a little bit so it’s not such a shit show tomorrow. I’ve had plenty of sleeper pow days at Jh but this storm cycle was announced so far in advance that I even rode the lift with somebody who drove from Wisconsin for this storm. Sorry no pictures today with a delayed start I wasn’t stopping to take pictures.5 points

Everything is awesome: Nice morning, 26° arrived 8:45 ,light a bit flat but otherwise nice except for the weird wind phenomenon. Half way up the quad there’s a strong wind gradient 10-15 ish from lower down calm conditions. It ended before the summit which was pretty calm. It remained the hour plus that I was there. I figured the ditch would be nice and ungroomed, and it was the rest of the trail was very nice as well. Main St chair was Fubar and the challenge six was not running either. It was a maintenance issue up top and there was a Patrol are in an employee stuck on the lift for an hour and a half. Of course it was spinning and they were loading it at 10:30 when I left . Most of the morning there was a little bit of a line on the quad, and it stopped quite a few times, due to some newbies. Main st , Nightmare, Chute , Glades pretty much everything was good.2 points

Challenge chair got running about 10:30. Kind of long lines on the quad before that, but it was nice because no one was making the long trek to Switch and Main, which were in great shape. After the challenge lift got started, switch back got a little skied off, but the trail edges were still pretty good.2 points

That's how I thought Sunday was, you'd feel you're fine in a turn and then next thing you know you've slid 20' sideways on a sheet of unseen ice lurking just below the surface. Later runs down Challenge had parallel sheets of ice running down the headwall where the freshly blown lipstick had been scraped off the pig underneath. Then you encountered the booter mid run that sent you airborne if you weren't paying attention.2 points

Saturday was hilarious, I think it's fair to say it will be along time before myself, schif and Ben all slide off the platform. Bonus points to benm for the Keri strug like recovery. Sunday I thought was actually a vast improvement and not just because enjo cooked but they blow snow and it was better. Saturday you could get an edge with lots of angle but it felt to high risk whereas Sunday you could let it rip more. The 1 inch last night similarly super helped today. Also only the quad was working for awhile which actually made it super nice. Switch and main held untouched cord well after 10 and I mostly bombed the fuck out of switch. Word of caution and it's scary if I'm the voice of caution but the surface underneath still sucks, Razors in particular is still very hard underneath with somewhat unmarked jumps. One of the weekday regulars took a scary beater, twice couldn't get back up and had to get a ride. The grip is there but think about it if it goes wrong because with the glide your going to be on the ground in a hurry.2 points

Oh holy hell today was gooood. Like,”save the neck for me clark” type stuff. Like doug, i had some google issues from the get go that messed with my head. We stood in wet snow for quite a while and right before opening i started to fog. I cleared them up a little on the gondi ride, but it just wasnt great and got worse to the point they were pretty much soaked and really a problem but plowed through as best i could. I made it to the potty at the top of one lift for some well needed TP, to at least dry the lenses, which helped tons. Anyways, man that early run down the hobacks was totally worth the price of admission. Deep deep stuff, but pretty heavy. Big open field of untracked loveliness. Currently using the hair drier and heater to dry all my shit out. Everything of mine was pretty wet. I need to step up my “rider of the storm gear”. What a great day. Areas in the hobacks probably had the deepest snow i have ever skied in.2 points

February 2nd 2025 Jackson Hole day 5 of 7 Today dawned with 7” of new snow in the past 24 hours and 16” in the last 2 days. I saw Dirtwolf at the bagel place again today…had first tracks at Pearl street bagels and a lot more first tracks throughout the day. A slow and steady drive to the mountain had us there around 8am and in line for the gondola at 810am it was snowing hard with a temperature around 30 degrees and we were maybe 15 people back in the singles line. Amphitheater was deep..as deep as yesterday a tad lighter density but medium to dense I guess..the left side all untracked my goggles were giving me some issues so I skied it a little slower and kept atomic Jeff waiting like a whole minute at the Thunder chair. Next run getting to Grand low vis plus goggle issues I just decided to ski alone…but don’t cry for me Argentina..my goggles got a little better later and all I skied was untracked..lots and lots of it. Grand was boner doner..Jeff was like it was so deep and untracked on the left, well the center was as well..then off to the Hobacks and second or third best Hobacks for me…the line I usually take is less travelled to begin with but just a handful of people in there and that’s where I took the most pictures…I literally felt old moguls like three spots in 2500 vertical feet. Union pass had a bit of a line and the heavy snow on the mountain was more a rain snow mixture with some sleet pellets..I was pretty soaked already…the guy I rode the lift with said his son is at mammoth and it’s raining to the peak. I skied into the village used the restroom and went into ski shop to see about cat poop which is something that prevents goggles from fogging but honestly my helmet and strap and foam just so soaked wouldn’t have mattered and the line was so long and others using hand dryers on goggles in the restroom. I just used a few paper towels and last few runs like 40% better…i took teewinot to apres vous and the main blue run was giant pow bumps and Jerry’s everywhere so I ducked right into the Moran area to the skiers left of the Teton lift and that was really good and not a ton of people. By now I was super soaked it wasn’t a big vert day but a big untracked snow day and I didn’t want in any long liftlines..doing the hobacks early today the pro move. I’m sure it was great later but not blank canvass…I stopped at the mangy moose store while boys were still skiing had an iced tea outside and like fifteen minutes later they were done and then went back to town changed into dry clothes and went to the snake river brewery for lunch. Mexican food tonight I could go for a frozen strawberry margarita served in a chalice the size of a small bird bath.2 points

Day 3 Woke up to low pressure again on the tire. Loaded the ski gear in my daughter's car. Drove to discount tire at 830. My daughter picked me up soon after got to the mountain around 915 while blasting lil yachti, future, Kendrick and logic for stoke. The tire had a screw in it and they repaired it for free. So glad I did that before heading down 17 back to Phoenix. Another cloudless bluebird day. First run up the grand canyon express, left at the catwalk to find a nice surprise....they dropped the ropes on volcano for the first time this season. The trail itself is groomed but there's a chute off of volcano that is natural. They had a sign marked thin cover and this week's snow fall was waiting. Rode that a few times. also ran another unnamed ungroomed trail near volcano. So some new snow goodness early on. But the theme for today was the bluest of bluebird skiing and primarily soft fast groomers. Not quite as good as yesterday but still a beautiful fantastic ski day where I didn't want to leave but the legs were done. Posted up in Scottsdale now before heading out to eat. Done skiing but what a great few days. I feel really lucky that I came this week. Just hope things turn snowfall wise soon.2 points

Was everything out of the base delayed? 11 is a crazy late start. I don't think I would have patience to stand in line for hours and hours like that.1 point

Absolutely scandalous, that's so dirty you should be arrested for indecent exposure. Normally peeps say to get some but in this case way to get some, white room time is rare.1 point

Three Avy bombs so far in snow king. Leaving for the mountain in a few. 15” in the last 24 hours and 6” overnight the caveat is it’s pouring rain in town and on the lower mountain prob real thick.1 point

Jackson Hole Day 4 of 7 2/1/2025 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. The day dawned mild and snowy with a temperature of around 30 degrees in town with a couple inches of new snow and 9” new reported on the mountain. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Nazareth Jay and Dirtwolf. We arrived at the mountain around 8am and were in line for the gondola around 810am to the sounds of avalanche bombs above. Miraculously the mountain opened on time and a few minutes later we were whisked up the mountain in the Bridger gondola. Down Amphitheater to Thunder was some thick new snow and was pretty tracked already by all the wallets and people ahead. Up Thunder and center of grand had a lot of untracked still kind of sierra cement. Up Sublette and into the cirque for the first time this trip..lots of new snow and untracked down into Amphitheater which was beat. By now Thunder had an overflowing corral but we waited once for about ten minutes to ride Thunder back up, then traverses below the expert chutes for some untracked and here it seemed lighter. Back down and we took the Marmot chair since it had no line. We ended up doing four laps off the Marmot chair skiing a couple short sections of slightly tracked glades..here the snow was more medium density. After the fourth woods lap we skied down to Casper chair and I was beat so skied to the base via blacktail and Sundance and like 20 minutes later the boys were done. We ended up at the Mangy moose again it was super packed in there but we got a table. Fun skiing a lot of untracked today and I think tomorrow will be even better and they needed the higher density snow to cover up the hardpack. jADIP1 point
