1. You should never take them out.  They should always be tight.

Taking them out is fine, but if they’re in, they should be snug with blue loc-tite put on the threads first so they don’t rattle themselves loose. Same goes for cuff alignment bolts. Ask me how I know…

  2. Heard the same thing from from a few instructors on valley school west yesterday as to why they’re not doing anything with The Warming Hut building this year. It’s gettin blown up to make room for the new chair.

  3. Kinda unlikely there's much need here for these but never hurts to try. Selling a pair of 120mm Salomon Shift brakes. The bindings were purchased new last year, mounted up this season, and the brakes were too wide for the skis they went on so I swapped them out for a narrower set. These have been used maaaaybe for two hours, so they're all but brand new. New Shift brakes are going for $100+. I'd love to get $75 for these, and selling local so I don't have to deal with shipping would be great.

Lift lines were pretty Epic for a Tuesday morning. The issue seemed to be people thinking that the vip line was the singles line. We bounced back and forth between quad and doubles til about 10:30, then when we realized that the bulk of the “vip” line was people without season passes, started to strategically maneuver through the line and never took more than 5 minutes after that.

Razors, paradise, widow maker, and lazy were possibly the best snow I’ve skied them with all year. It was awesome to ski razors at 100% and know your edges were gonna grip no matter how hard you pushed. Don’t get to do that too often, given that I don’t run a 3° side bevel like AtomicSkier

  5. Yup, right by a school. I don’t think you’d be able to see it from any highway, as it’s not that big and the trails are really not that wide as you can see in my photos. It’s part of Mahlon Dickerson preserve, so yes they do trail maintenance. There are trails in there that people bike, though I don’t think there’s an actual bike park, technically.

  6. Always characters out here.  The Casper lift is closed this week due to electrical issues.  I feel like it’s making the line for the Teton chair longer.  I was just on Thunder lift and about a 2 minute wait in singles line.  Only had to get in line 21 minutes before opening ding ding to get first gondoobie.

That character has some bougie gear, and I don’t mean the polar bear they’re wearing

  7. Yeah, skiable in the sense that a skier is generally able to go down it. But most of the time I've been on it I found it to be either worse than any other open trail on the mountain or a plain torture to navigate. I ski it once, just to see what's new, and end up never coming back on the same day 'cause it ain't worth it. Looks like from the reports it was a real gem on Monday, too bad I've missed it. I hope that once it stops being a novelty they'll realize that with the way how they make it, most people will prefer not to ski it. Meaning snowmaking money down the drain.

    Learn how to ski?

  8. Almost every other destination attraction charges for parking but season passholders get parking included like at dorney Park.  I think at the birds games they charge for parking.

Are you really comparing an eagles game to skiing at blue? There’s multiple viable forms of public transit to get to the stadiums. Lemme know when I can take a train from my house to blue, then I’ll pay to park.

  9. Correct me if I’m wrong but the duke PT requires you to remove part of the toe piece to use it in uphill mode, ya? If that’s a concern, shifts are the way to go. I have pivots on all the things, so CAST was my preferred route, with dynafit speed radical toes. I have to swap toes for the up vs down, but if you if you’re doing inbounds stuff with the ski 90%+ of the time and are strong enough to push a pivot 15 DIN-wise, it’s a great option. I can bring em to blue this weekend if you wanna check em out.

  10. Had a great day today. Out on the snow by 805, snow was perfect everywhere. Took a fall in the glades off Main Street, wasn’t going fast, but hit a small stump, don’t even know what happened, but the back of my head hit first. Thank God for helmets and MIPS. Thanks indiggioand Slim for waiting and making sure I was ok. This is the dent in my helmet!

Check with the manufacturer; some offer a discounted crash replacement program. Definitely replace that. Just because it looks like a small dent on the outside, if it was enough of a hit that it caused you to consider it, the foam on the inside could very easily be cracked, compressed, or otherwise compromised. Honestly from the look of that impact, MIPS probably didn’t play too much of a role here. MIPS is designed to create a slip layer for rotational impacts to slow down the rotational velocity of your brain vs your skull. Not knocking it at all, my bike helmets have it, but I’m curious how much it helps in the real world on snow or ice. All just my speculation, I’m not an engineer or brain surgeon.

  11. I like the Slopes app. It’s subscription based but seems to be fairly accurate regarding speed. They also added a track friend on the mountain feature this year.

Slopes definitely has/had a free tier. I’ve been using it for a few years now and never paid.
