  1. Templates are in, I guess it’s time to order cores, base and edge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. So looking back and double checking the first templates I made for the first set of skis I found a pretty big error, resulting in the ski feeling hooky as described in the TR so I’m in need of new templates. The radius on the tip of the ski somehow ended up being about 14m. I got to drawing and came up with a similar shape but with the correct side cut. I sent this shape out to a shop that has a CNC router table and am hoping to have some pricing back by early this week for templates. This will speed things up a lot as most of my time on the first pair was spent making templates. I’m hoping to be skiing Shape-2 by the end of 2020. I’m still on the fence but I may go full in on this shape, it seems like it should be a fun shape and if I can get the flex right, will be a quiver killer in my book. My hope is to make three sets of skis in this shape, with varying core thickness but the rest of the layup will be identical. This will help me fine tune the flex to what i am looking for. From there I can make more of the core thickness that I like, and you fools can also have a set to ski. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. If this happens, we are fucked. This was my first thought, and worry.
  4. The big mountain feel of the place really makes you feel like youre out west, simply incredible. Its like skiing in PA without the drive!
  5. Make Blue Elite Again, Ill get the hats printed.
  6. If you want to ski any Epic mountain before December 8th, youre going to need a pass. Guess they kinda have you backed into a corner with that one, gotta pay to ski.
  7. Maybe we are all the jealous haters because we cant afford to buy left over Kastle's
  8. Just figured youd make a dick comment about me being a poor because I ski on Line skis.
  9. I was there almost 2 hours, they are selling tickets in two hour blocks to limit the number of people, face coverings are required and you can only ride the lift with people in your party, good preview of what the season will look like. There is a T-bar up the right side along the wall.
  10. Many firsts for me last night. First time skiing in a mall, first time skiing in September and first lift beer of the 20-21 season. Hopefully this is a good start to what could be a very weird season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DIY Splitboard

Very nice work so far, some of the most fun for me was figuring out how to rig the tools I already had to make what I wanted. Excited to see the finished product!

West systems 105 Resin & 205 Hardner is what I used on the skis and a few other projects. Can be found on Amazon or at most boat supply places.

I 100% agree there should be an edge, I was saying I would not worry about trying to get a piece of sidewall in above the edge.

I wouldn't push it to try and get side wall in there, I do not think it will be worth the hassle. I dont know much about split boarding, but the cut edge will be to the outside I think, so you wont have to worry much about tearing up the core from hitting the boards together while skinning. If possible I would try and get VDS rubber in though. It creates a shear layer between the stiff metal edge and the softer fiberglass/epoxy/core. I got most of my materials from skilab.com, the epoxy was from Amazon. Ski Lab is not the cheapest but the customer service was well worth it and I asked the guy a bunch of questions he had no problem answering. If you need anything let me know!

This is 100% false, it has been done but we were asked to transition and head back down mid lap by patrol.
  18. Ill be that guy, figure out how to ski, take a lesson, and be able to ski anything at least a Blue, including the bumps before buying touring gear. This goes for everyone, not trying to call you out.
  19. Skiing will be the problem. You gotta get up to get down, two people per chair on opposite ends of the quad and 6 pack, singles only on double chairs? Ohh and stay 6 feet away from everyone in the lift line that you dont reside with. With people standing shoulder to shoulder the line makes it to the end of the ropes on a normal weekend, its going to be fun stopping half way down Challenge to stand in a lift line to maintain social distance. Skiing is a business, the only people that the business cares about typically is its employees. They will keep employees behind some sort of comically funny sneeze guard and let the paying customer come and do as they will. They will push the limits of what they can get away with as far as the current level of restrictions at the time to make money. Maybe they will start renting touring gear, make Paradise an up-hill only trail, all other open trails are downhill only, lifts wont run.... This seems like the winning combo..
  20. A bar in SLC always had a $10 hot pocket on the menu, because it was not considered a bar if they had a food menu. Going to be a lot of side stepping with the new regulations.
  21. Photo taken at 1030, high tide is at 130. They might need the boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Going to try and make it to Blue Mountain in Palmerton PA next year, hopefully I can make it at least one time.
  23. You’re fine, have at it. It’s easy, just use the paper template. If you’re worried about it drill a 2x4 with the paper template and mount the bindings to it to ensure everything is correct before drilling the skis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
