  1. https://www.skibluemt.com/winter-sports/skiing-snowboarding/trail-map/ Check their list? They don't show Upper/Lower Switchback. There is an Upper/Lower Sidewinder, most call Lower Sidewinder the S-Turns. Also, there is an old connector that's mostly blocked by planted trees and a snowgun where you used to go from Xing across Main Street and over to what would be Lower Switchback - it also carries over via a cat track to Lazy Mile. That's one reason Xing is where it is.
  2. As soon as there's a connector/bypass around that steep bit, I bet it does get split from Two Tickets to Upper Ticket and Lower Ticket. For all the tiny trails at Blue, at least there aren't upper/lower pairs that can't have one part open without the other (IE Lower Main St can open without Upper, Nightmare doesn't have to be open to ski Dreamweaver, etc.). Shockingly, lower Lazy Mile could be a separate trail and isn't. Personally, I'm in favour of Valhalla for "Paradise for badasses" but they obviously aren't taking suggestions.
  3. I wish there was a poll feature so we could get a consensus on Burma Opening dates and Valley Opening dates. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  4. Main Street too, but it looks like maybe just the very bottom? Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  5. If the forecast holds up for this week, that's every night at least from Sunday through Thursday they can run - five nights should be good enough to get lower Main at a minimum, no? Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  6. There's a phrase, till it and kill it. Moving wet snow on warm ground is a great way to get it to melt. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  7. Early gravestones are really robbing Peter to pay Paul, right? Though maybe not enough'll die to make that kind of difference. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  8. The real question is how much of the stockpile will be left once the weather turns. Everything is northern exposure, and the piles should cool the ground down. That might give a good boost once the guns come back on even if it looks rough. With the relatively marginal forecast - high twenties after the 1st - that might make the difference. 9. Ouch, nothing in the Vista lift corral. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  10. Do you mean portable fan guns? Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  11. Don't they usually say three days around the clock? Seems like they're a day short. Not to be a Debbie Downer but besides Xmas 2015 for two days of grass skiing I don't remember them opening with just two nights of snowmaking. Maybe the long timers can correct me. 12. There are some guns on skiers right of Vista but it doesn't look like they were running... Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  13. Depends - Palmerton shows maybe a couple hours just before dawn, but they might get a degree or two colder up above the clouds, or the humidity could stay too high and skunk 'em. Tomorrow and Wednesday are the real opportunities. Or they might be out doing setup/system checks. Really it's borderline enough they easily might not go for it tonight, and I forgot that webcams exist so I asked here.
  14. Anyone got eyes on the lights tonight what with the weather coming? I only see their lot lights. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  15. There's also the "No shouting fire in a crowded theatre" restriction on freedom of speech. The right to peacefully assemble isn't an absolute and can be restricted - you don't typically complain about fire code limits in municipal buildings, but that's exactly the same restriction that's being applied here - it's unsafe to have a gathering larger than X, because there's a chance something might happen and hurt people at a larger gathering. As for cold weather, bring it on. Last year Blue was open by now. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  16. I did that two weeks ago. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  17. The 'when we get the all clear' was about the PASR trip to Big Snow. I have no idea when the outdoor places will get rolling. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  18. On the positive side, once the all clear sounds, there won't be any waiting around for the snow, regardless of season. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  19. Speaking of stoke, while I think the long range is still garbage for Blue to open, we might see a test fire on Tuesday or Wednesday - low of 22 on Wednesday and there's already extra fan guns out on valley school. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  20. As far as weather goes, as long as Blue gets 72 hours at or around 25 degrees, they'll open. The odds are, looking at historic weather, 2% or less that they don't get what they need to open for Christmas with something. A 2015 repeat would be a real kick in the teeth on top of COVID, though. I really hope that's not the case. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  21. At this point if Trump gets the 2028-2032 term, we'd better pickle him like Richard Nixon's head from futurama. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  22. Unfortunately by exposing low risk people, we expose high risk people. There isn't a practical way to take one society and strip out all the vulnerable people from it. If we knew that there were no long term effects from COVID like strokes or heart and lung damage or liver damage or mental changes, and we did have a way to identify and isolate every vulnerable person, then that makes sense. It's just not within our abilities. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  23. And in states where their electoral votes count more. Loses the popular vote but wins the Electoral College, by larger margins in both cases than last time? Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  24. With the exception of the top of Nightmare for a few days last year, on balance it's at least more snow like than dirt like. Then again, I learned to ski in Virginia - my standards are low. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  25. Blue's FB in the comments said they needed to build a new pumphouse to do the new trail. I'm guessing that's where the holdup is, since Burma's getting thousands of feet of pipe and ten or twenty more guns than the new trail would take. Right now all their new guns - Tubing, Valley School, Burma - haven't been at the top of the MTN. Maybe they don't think they can get enough pressure without more/better pumps?
