Great ski day. Low lines, mini pow day. Main Street still had its ice softballs and crud, made carving a pain. Freefall was excellent, no popping off the lip of falls, but the snow was overall good and everyone in a good mood

Didn’t realize it was you in front of me at the gates to start this morning. I’ll make sure to say hi next time

That's great. I will not miss the Choke and having to ski through the terrain park with unpredictable people around after skiing the Lazy Mile.

Now we'll only have to contend with that nonsense after skiing Widowmaker, Chute, Switchback, Upper Main Street, Middle Main Street, Lower Main Street, Even Lower Main Street, Vista, Come Around Park, Burma Road, Little Gap, and Barney's Bumps for bumpers like @indiggio

I completed the survey and gave everything a perfect score except for this issue.

You don't have to contend with that choke after skiing Vista, Widowmaker, or Come Around Park. Let's get the facts straight.

I saw that on teh Face Books. I wonder if Blue the True charges the same since it and Camelback are essentially brothers now???

Last I heard Blue was charging(threatening) $20 for a new pass but never actually charging the person and still printing one

Tried to find some on Blue's website but it's really no help so can anyone rec something decent within a 15-20 min drive? Don't need anything flashy but then again want to avoid bedbug type places. TIA

Woodstone would to be the top choice for convenience with under a 10 minute drive. When we had weddings at Blue in the summer, the recommended places were in Bethlehem or Lehighton, both 20-25 minutes away since Woodstone had their own weddings going on.

Why?? On epic Powder Days, charge non season pass holders as high as they'll possibly pay, even $500 or $1000 if possible, and the ski hill station will be a little less crowded for us VIP season passholders. Then Blue will make bank and can invest in the mountain by spending the money on extra cattle corral ropes for the VIP line, and maybe hand out free mini hot cocoas for the first 10 season passholders. And there won't be pictures of thousands in line being spread all over social media. Everyone wins.

    Thanks. Figured out how

Blue is still probably leaving money on the table. Next time it snows they should charge $300 per ticket, $50 parking. Why not throw on a $25 convenience fee too like Ticket Master??

Not sure how to give warning points but this post makes me want to look into it.

I really think a of this had to have been Ikon driven.

It's not going to get any better...

We just need 7 snow storms so they’ll all use their Ikon passes and then it can go back to normal. Easy.

Why is new tripoli pronounced the way it is and not like every other version of tripoli ?

"The name comes from Tripoli in Libya, in commemoration of the fighting in the Barbary Wars. The pronunciation of New Tripoli is with the stress on "PO", as many non-natives make the mistake of stressing the first syllable which will often be corrected by natives."

    v busy at work today

    what's a kunkle, anyway?

"(Eldred Township's) largest village is Kunkletown which is named for Joseph Kunkle, one of the earliest businessmen and hotel owners in Eldred Township. Abraham Smith erected a grist mill in 1762 along Prince’s Run (Princess Run). In 1812, Phillip Hess ran a gun factory for the U.S. Army. The gun factory closed in 1830, and Samuel Berger and Abraham Blecker began a tannery on the old gun factory property until the tannery closed in 1877. Thomas Snyder opened a store in 1832, and the Kunkletown post office wasn’t opened until 1864, with Joseph Johnson serving as the first postmaster."

We were talking with a girl in the row who said that the parking gate was open and they weren’t charging.  Didn’t fact check her though.

Saw the gate sticking straight up in the air but looked like no one was parked in it

The gates should be closer to the loading area, and an attendant should be pairing up the six outside the gate and sending them through as a group of 6.

Singles line that goes right to the cattle shoots to fill chairs. Just saved them a $7.50/hour employee for the rest of the season.

Has management never skied at a resort that fills chairs without paying someone to do it? KSL owns 17 resorts and can’t figure this out

Camelback responded to yesterday: "Due to all of the snow we did have delayed openings for lifts. We are working on getting more terrain and more lifts open as soon as possible."

Is it typical that snow makes lifts stop working? Never heard this one before!

Camelback's social media is not getting any flak like Blue's is. I guess Blue was way worse or Camelback's clientele are just totally ok with spending $100 to stand in long lines all day and look at closed lifts.

Skiology Matt said we had freezing rain in the middle of the snow storm which was probably the delay for the Comet Quad as well.

Both 6's are currently running.  looks like they are setting up ropes to run the old 6 today.  I guess they are working on redemption.

Only had the quad and MSE on the conditions report today 🙃

    Also no Razors

Edit* No Razors listed but apparently it's open, and not groomed.

What really gets me is that for how many years have they done "gating" at the OG 6 & quad, yet they seem to have totally forgot how to do it at the new 6???  They've tried on multiple occasions to have someone stand right before the chair and proceed to count to 6, only to have people totally ignore them and do what they want anyway.   They really don't need a ton of room anyway to gate the people as having too much room there only causes more problems with people not being able to count to 6 and stay together as the assigned group.

Yeah, there's not as much room in front of the new 6, but they should have known about that at design time.   Since they didn't and clustered that all up, blow/push more snow in front of the readers to provide more area to wait. instead of putting up a fence to stop people from going around.

Filling the chairs would have helped and I was also wondering why they can't do that anymore. Also, isn't one of the selling points of the season pass the VIP line? What happened to that?
