  1. Arguably the best snow. Maybe the best snow in the Pocono Mountains... If we extend it to the Endless Mountains, I will take Elk any day of the week, rain, snow, or shine. I will not detract from JFBBs ability to rebound though. They definitely have Elk beat on snowmaking no questions asked...
  2. I have no idea what the efficiency on these is, but my guess is that they keep getting more guns because they are more efficient. They are probably retiring less efficient guns every year, but we don't hear about that...
  3. I had this season pass for 3 years in college... I think the first year I got it, which was my Freshman year, 04/05 season, the pass was $229... Sure its gone up a bit, but not too much... I think they ask for a Bursars letter, and I walked into the bursars office and had them print one off right then... However, one year I picked my pass up when school wasn't in session and I printed off a current copy of my transcript and they took that... Could all be the luck of the draw...
  4. Nice additions. I thought about getting them for my Jeep Patriot. I only need the seat well liners since the back of the patriot is plastic already... They should work great. My dad has had them in all his past SUVs and wont go a prolonged period of time before he gets them...
  5. Yeah, I want to be somewhere opening day, but I just spent some time in Europe (15 days), so I have to work a little bit. Plus we havent closed on a condo yet and I don't know what the overall status of that is or when it will happen. I have been trolling the Sugarbush message board since Win Smith posts there, and they are aiming for a Nov 1 snowmaking start with slopes opening the 20th. Its attainable if the weather is there. Hugo, what do you think of the new building? I believe it is going to be the new ski school and rental shop?
  6. I'm not going to be going then, and possibly not even the first or second weekend in November, but damn it would help ease my pain if the temps would allow them to blow some snow... Don't ask me why, but it would help... Means we are that much closer...
  7. When will the temps start dropping enough for Killington and Sunday River to make a run at it? The 10 day doesn't look too promising, and if the temps don't drop shortly after that there may not be any Halloween skiing and riding to be had
  8. I have to agree with that... Bell definitely has some mediocre food at ridiculous prices in that basement... You can take it upstairs if your motivated for a much better view lol. Elk may have high SP and Day Tix, but their food is pretty damn affordable... No complaints there...
  9. More like its for good reading and discussion, but I frankly don't give a shit what a bunch of editors say... However, I still find it interesting that Snowshoe has been consistently making this list...
  10. That walkway seems like a cool but utterly ridiculous idea... Will the Blue Crew still make an early season trip with only 600' vertical available?
  11. Answer: You should drag him along with you to make a pass worth it...
  12. Currently in Rutland... Heading up to scope out some of the condos tomorrow... Probably won't make a decision, but we will have a good idea of if the condos are worth it, in the right place, and something we would be interested into holding onto for the immediate future (5-10 yrs)... I'll let you know how it goes...
  13. Been to Sugarloaf three time. I did a trip to Sunday River/Sugarloaf 2 years ago before Thanksgiving. Sunday River Monday , and Sugarloaf Tuesday. Tore up my knee like 3rd run on Monday but decided to man up and stick with it. Still hurts every once in awhile, but the doc says its fine. After the day at Sunday River there were reports of some frozen precip coming through with a possibility of r**n mixing in... We looked at Sugarloaf where they we expecting 95% snow with a small chance of rain mixing in, so we drove up. Being early season and them having an extensive but not that powerful snowmaking system, meant they only had 6 trails open off the superquad. We checked into the Spillover motel to a dusting with a ton of hunters there for deer season. Woke up the next morning and there were about 6 inches of snow on the ground. It had clearly rained a little and it was currently sleeting. As we got closer to the mountain it became clear the elevation was going to be a big factor in the storm. By the time we reached the access road it was totaling about 15 inches. Got our tix and hit the lift... First run up, there is Seth Wescott chilling at the top of the lift terminal talking to the lifties. Being that he is the shit up there, he peeled off onto some closed terrain... I'm guessing they didn't clip his ticket... Some wind, but most trails had shin deep pow with some areas waist deep from blower pow... Snowed like a blizzard the whole time... Lift on windhold after lunch and knee killing me so we left home... Went back a month later after a rain/warm event and mostly boarded on some boiler plate with some granular on top... More terrain but bad conditions... Went back 2 months later during a rain/snow event (mostly rain)... All lifts on windhold except for the t-bar... Decided it wasn't worth the t-bar to hold into the rain and left... I would go back to the Loaf, but there are definitely better mountains... It could be all based on conditions... I can say that they may not get the storm fronts that VT does, but it is cold as can be with a heck of an elevation and Latitude...
  14. Stowe, Jay Peak, Smuggs, and Loon all in there... I should definitely pull for that condo lol
  15. That has an 80-85% accuracy rate based on historical data taken after the season... I'll take 80-85%...
  16. That kinda sucks since last year was a shitty snow year north of the Poconos... Depends on where you looked... Mid-A or NE?
  17. I would be a dan of either the 22nd or 23rd of October since I will be in B-Town for stoketoberfest... Brew Works...
  18. Honestly, I haven't been to Sno/Montage since 1993... I am pretty sure most of the trails below the lodge werent even there at that point... I am always concerned of the ski industry in PA... I don't think any of us want to lose a mountain, even if we don't ski/board there... I am just hoping they are making progress so they can keep Sno viable into the future... I would be more than willing to come try it out this year if my schedule allows... I just hope they start putting some of the money they make back into improvements once they stabilize the Cove...
  19. Its like anything to deal with adults... They figure we can make some decisions for ourselves... You know, your body is yours to do what you please mentality? However, that is slowly being taken away... It may not be a good example, but you have the right to do what you want when your an adult to a certain degree, and you must be held responsible for those actions... Children can't make sound decisions all the time, and there are many parents who arent smart enough to make those decisions for them. Thats why the law takes care of children. I personally wear a helmet when I board and have taken quite a few headshots... However, I have been known on occasion to trade my helmet for a baseball hat when it is 70 degrees with 15" of slushy corn on the trails, and I would like to keep that option available to me... I dont like my rights being taken away because you never get them back. Every law is just a stepping stone for a stricter law... They would have never tried to incorporate a blanket helmet law for all skiers and riders regardless of age, but they will start at children and start working their way up to adults. They are doing the same thing now with motorcycles...
  20. Update: I am doing my due diligence on a Mountainside Condo at Sugarbush... Alot of factors played into it, but the biggest ones were price, fees, taxes, snow, proximity to other resorts, and season pass price... I won't have enough fluid cash to get a 7 day season pass at $1,199, but a 5 day without weekends for $499 is easily attainable... I don't board much on weekends or holidays which are probably the peak times we will rent it... It is a huge plus having Stowe, Killington, and Bolton Valley within an hour... I would probably get a discount card to one of them so I can get a little variety here and there... I am hoping for good snow since it is farther north than K-Mart and gets a respectable 270" a year... I am aiming on going about 8 weeks this year if work allows and will probably try to live there and work at Sugarbush for the 11/12 season... It would appear that the taxes listed on the MLS already have the Act 60 taxes included since the literature I read says that condos are all lumped together, regardless of the resident's home state since they are considered luxury type homes... The more interesting part is the taxes on the sale should we sell it in the future... They are different under Act 68 and I have an e-mail into the realtor to ask him how it works... If we get some good news back from the realtor on the taxes we may go check out the condo in a couple weeks before I head to Europe... It is priced nearly $30k higher than the same condo right next door, so we should be able to talk it down a good chunk... I'm really hopeful and optimistic...
  21. Its a ridiculous law... I don't mind having a law that makes children wear helmets for anything, but the implementation of this law will cause more problems than benefits... Congratulations Jersey... You suck a little more than you used to... So on the whole scale of things, it makes you minutely worse, but worse nonetheless...
  22. That would be awesome... I wonder how much extra the taxes are... We would be renting it out some peak weeks in the winter, and during the summer.. I would go for 2 weeks at a time probably 4 times a winter... It would be worth it... Weekday pass is affordable at $529... 7 days a week is out of the questions for now at $1199...
  23. Can you ask your brother what kind of summer rental income to expect? I'm not expecting to rent it much in the winter, but most of the summer would be fine...
