How long did this take to do?

A couple of days of messing around. The data is easy to get, its all publicly downloadable from NOAA but I had to overlay it with coordinates from ski areas so I had to generate those manually. Then I entered the totals for each ski area manually but I like doing that part so I don't automate it.

Imported the data to some statistical software (Prism) to generate the graph.

Ok so since we're waiting and its raining here's another one:

This is a measure of "freezing degree-days" which is calculated from the number of days below freezing and the number of degrees below freezing on those days. An explanation I found here:

"FDD = a 24 hour period where the average temperature is 32F (or 0C). That's simple enough. However, it kind of stacks; if the average temperature is 17F (-8.3C) for a 24 hour period, it is equivalent to 15 FDD because 17F is 15 degrees below freezing. 15 days at 31F or 1 day at 17F will yield similar results."

Think of it like a "snowmaking potential" score.

And while I'm messing around. If we average all those Eastern PA mountains together and look at the data longitudinally we get this:

Trendline added via simple linear regression.

Usually takes 40 mins to get to VTmark’s house, but took 1 hour 10 mins around 6:30 last night.  Between Saturday and Sunday had about 6 inches at my apartment and 8 inches at my parents house

Some of these are just getting outrageous. Waiting for You to post your 0-48" picture that you have stashed away for occasions like this.

Like this? Somebody posted this and said "I can't believe we are going to get 20"!! Dummies.
