Most parties are held at the half-way house by the roaring fire pit. I've seen a few over the years in the parking lot on Spring Carnival weekend.

Oh and thanks Jeff for that very accurate beer menu update.

No problem. I tend bar on Thursdays so stop in if you are skiing!

Very firm Packed Powder. Won't take much traffic for ice to peak out. All the moguls are gone on Tunck Slalom will be closed for racing. The West Indians should all be open, in fact, every trail but Lehigh will probably be open by Sunday. Skiing's great- bar beers are cold...

Update: 1:00pm

Conditions improved since Friday. Blew additional snow overnight on many trails. Packed to loose powder on most slopes. Tunk is now moguling. Top speed this AM 56.8 mph. Not bad for a 66 year old. Bar beers are cold....

Saturday 's usually the busiest day. SP holders usually ski from 8:30 to 10:30. Take a break

until noon, then ski until the lunch crowd comes out at about 1:30. Sunday is less busy and by afternoon a lot

of the crowd is headed home. You can also run the singles line on the quad or the double on the quad side.

another tip is most skiers will head to the quad side first, so around 11:00 am the twin doubles at the lodge can be less crowded.

Overall skiing will be less busy than Blue and the Pocono mountains. Montage is the exception and should be

a good choice depending on amount of terrain open. All of ELK's trails should be open by MLK weekend.

Thanks Rummy - you think Montage is less crowded than Elk on a holiday?

Northface on Montage, where all the interesting skiing is, I have never waited in a lift line for more than 1-2 minutes even on a holiday weekend.

On a normal weekend I ride the quad lift solo half the time.

Will likely be there one day this weekend.

I frankly don't understand how they turn a profit on their skiing. (Or why more folks don't take advantage of the great skiing they offer).
