saltyant Posted July 25 Author Report Posted July 25 @GrilledSteezeSandwich Are you getting your Camelback season pass this week?? Looks like they'll be discounted for a radical upcoming ski season with a $100 gift card. With that you can probably buy 5 Hot Toddys at the Camelback resorts ski lodges. 2
RidgeRacer Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 They’re probably struggling with SP sales after last years snowmaking debacle. Blue will be even more of a mad house this winter
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 Congrats to the Camel on first in PA unless anyone gets open today 1
enjoralas Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 Good for them for hustling, and finally caring about their clientele enough to do something like open 12/3. Just Nile Mile and Sunbowl will be a total shit show of course, with the crowd they pull (quality and quantity) but hopefully it will be mitigated for the first few days by being midweek and so early, and hope they can expand terrain by the weekend.
JFskiDan Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 Camelback opening tomorrow is such a good thing for us. 2
trackbiker Posted December 2 Report Posted December 2 It is normal for them to open on the Stephenson side? You can ski down Sundbowl from the lodge but how do you get back to lodge and the "free" parking?

No, not normal for them to open this way. It was 100% due to the cracked footer on the new bubble lift that needed to be replaced. They just set the tower back about 10 days ago. Was surprised they set it back already, actually. No way that concrete footer cured already. Maybe it doesn't need the tower off of it to cure? There's still excavators on the slopes around the two towers you can see from the Base webcam. There's a very new but slow quad lift that runs up Sunbowl to get people back up to the main lodge area. 1

I heard that they have four more footers to go but that they are “Two weeks ahead of schedule “ But I’m not sure what that time frame is. The new sheriff seems to be a straight shooter. I’m not an engineer but I thought it takes awhile to cure like you mentioned.

There are ways to speed this up with high / early yield mixes etc. With buildings we are ok to start setting steel once 85% design strength is achieved. We usually wait for the seven day test breaks to verify this. 1 1
Icecoast Posted December 3 Report Posted December 3 Wow. The past decade with lifts at camelback sure instills confidence. Multiple bad footers?

I'm not sure multiple were bad, I think they may be excavating around the others to verify. No insider info, just from what i see on the cam. I only ever saw a crane in once, and one tower down, but excavators have been parked around multiple other towers at various points.

AtomicSkier Posted December 3 Report Posted December 3 I was there. Conditions were far better than a Blue opening. Very quiet...I pulled in at 8:47, parked right across the street from the Stevenson, booted up, and walked down. Was probably 6th chair? 6 1
