shopey1080 Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Vibes are high. Starting off the day with Patrol rolling the sled. 2 1 1 1
RidgeRacer Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Ugh. Probably a great day today. Got in late last night. Slept in. It's 9:40. Hopefully you guys are still skiing and its wasn't a short sesh.
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 I didn’t make it up obviously my knee was bugging me, I was tired and wasn’t keen on a spicy drive. I still got to play in the snow and my Noon cancelled as expected. 1 1

mute1080 Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Way better on the drive and skiing conditions compared to yesterday. Crowds showed up at 10 and I saw they announced day tickets were sold out around 11 am. 10/10 3
Mixilplix Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Today was a winning trifecta....fantastic conditions, great peeps, and super good parking lot treats thanks to @enjoralas. started with two smooth quiet trips down NM/DW, then did a TCS which got cut up really fast. Over to Main which had some nice semi untracked down the right side. Things got chopped up quick but it stayed ridable until the crowds came on the mountain. Today was slightly better with the groomed up snow from yesterday underneath. Conditions felt much quicker than yesterday. This weekend was just Tits Mcgee....... 4 1 4

But the lines were actually minimal until around 9:30 once all the jerries and herbs finally got around to getting here from Filthadelphia and Dirty Jersey for our sloppy seconds. That's just bananas to pay $90 to stand in line and ride the chair lift for probably 35 minutes per run. Holy shit, is that not optimal. I'm glad we all optimize our time by getting there at 0800 sharp. I didnt arrive today until 0807 due to horrendous roads driving from Hazletucky. My normal commute is 50 minutes, today it took 1 hours 20 minutes. Edited January 18 by saltyant 1 1
saltyant Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 I poached X-ing and got some untracked fresh perder so that was pretty radical. Plus JohnnyLaw and BenM and maybe even JFDan witnessed me from the Main Street Chair Lift a few times and they said my ski pole technique was radical. 1 2 3
saltyant Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 (edited) Some lifestyle shots today. @GrilledSteezeSandwich missed all the fun and the lifestyles. Even @NMSKI got a good lifestyle photo. That last one was @MrsSnowBunSki on a little motorized cart but she was driving so fast I couldn't capture a still photograph with my jitterbug. Edited January 18 by saltyant 5
Mixilplix Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 And a big shout out to Becky Boo for the Girl Scout cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 2
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Of course I missed the shrimp but salad bar at Weis markets was virgin 1

I had ok skiing Friday and real nice yesterday and didn’t even have any FOMO today until this picture. That’s a great jacket hard to even recognize you in that. You ski any glades? 1
NMSKI Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Best day of my season so far. First tracks down NMDW was very nice. Fun to ski the mountain a little differently than usual! Thanks to @enjoralas for the meats! 5 1

Yeah X-ing was lit, and @NMSKI even said he might possibly consider the consideration of possibly maybe removing me from ignore. I skied some glades of Coming Soon, that was sick. I also crashed on my first run on Switchback at the top because I forgot how to ski perder for like 5 minutes and just sent it. I was pretty trigged and cursing out loud because I couldn't get my ski boot in my Elon bindings for like 8.5 minutes because of all the perder but after that run the morning improved, especially with all that untracked perder on X-ing and I heard a rumour that some local PASRs poached Come Around Park, which was closed but was radical. 1
saltyant Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 The instant I launched myself onto X‑ing at Blue Mountain—swaddled in my gray puffy Patagonia jacket that made me look like a Michelin Man who had recently discovered mindfulness—the entire mountain seemed to gasp in anticipation, as if it knew a legendary display of moderately competent skiing was about to unfold. The morning temperature hovered at a dignified 34 degrees, the kind of temperature that says, “I’m cold, but I’m not trying to ruin your day,” while a light but steady snow drifted down with the energy of a thousand tiny stagehands sprinkling confetti for my grand entrance. Beneath me lay three inches of untracked powder so magical it might as well have been harvested from the dreams of baby snow leopards; each turn sent it puffing upward in dramatic little clouds, as though the mountain were sighing at my magnificence. My skis’ metallic edges didn’t just carve—they surgically bisected the molecular atoms of the snow with the precision of a caffeinated physicist, sending microscopic particles fleeing in terror or admiration, hard to say which. And the solitude—oh, the solitude! X‑ing stretched before me like a private runway commissioned exclusively for my questionable athleticism, a stark contrast to the rest of Blue Mountain, where crowds swarmed like a Black Friday sale at a waffle iron factory. Yet here I was, gliding through a serene, untouched wilderness, performing turns so dramatic they deserved their own orchestral score, soaking in a level of peace and grandeur so wildly disproportionate to the actual length of the trail that it felt like the universe was playing a prank on me. Every second was packed with so much cinematic gravitas, so much exaggerated alpine majesty, that it seemed physically impossible for all of it to be contained within such a… compact… geographical footprint.
DiMe Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Touched down in EWR from SLC at midnight wasn’t amped for PA holiday weekend pow 🤣. Those lift lines look so fun!!! 1 1

Those lift lines look so fun!!! @mute1080would have been at Blue Mountain at 8 am sharp even probably after a 16 hour flight from Japan that landed at EWR at 3 am. That man is a trooper. There is no way in hell I would have been at any PA mountain or any mountain the morning after either unless some highly attractive redheaded woman was waiting for me. And the lift lines were not like that at all until around 930. Even then it was a short line at the Main Street 6 pack. By then we were all ready to consume tea and strumpets anyway. 2 1

You're welcome and any time! Today we were reminiscing about those good olde days when @toastman would tell me "STFU", "Stop", and ,"ok". Mostly to "STFU" though. One time on my epic Stowe thread he even said "fingers crossed" when I said I would get buried in the perder. I think maybe that was in 2018. I remember being on the gondoobie in solitude when toast man wrote that. @RootDKJ used to call it a gondoobie. I think maybe we even talked about Root Man and even VTmark today. And of course @RajeevGuptaSucheeta came up in conversation.
