Popular Post RidgeRacer Posted February 16 Popular Post Report Posted February 16 (edited) Just back from a really really fun morning at Blue mountain, the true mountain. Small but mighty crew today consisting of me, Atomic, Mark and Dirtwolf. There were also cameo appearances made by Nastar Glenn and Airhead who we saw from the lift. Not much in the way of crowds early on. It was a country club actually from about 8 to 9 which was quite pleasant. Snow wise about 2 inches fell on the mountain and conditions ranged from western groomer to soft and at times semi slow or grabby. First run on razors was quite nice with an inch or 2 over the cord (first pic).. everything was good and stayed good however. I'd give it a solid 8.9 out of 10. People started filing in around 9:30 with the lot growing ever so steadily. A very nice morning at Blue overall. Grateful for the 8am open today. Edited February 16 by RidgeRacer 9 4
AirheadD8 Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 The Chute bumps were really nice except for the very bottom part that kicked my ass twice. I had to keep going back until I felt like I had done s decent job. Quad had a delay for some reason and the challenge lift peeps got first dibs on an untracked Razors. But there was still some nice areas. I did something stupid…. I know shocker lol. I thought I ended my season. The line under challenge lift enticed me in from sidewinder . First turn huge rock lost right ski and my knee went into another rock . After I collected myself the rest of the side country was ok. I talked to Oz on the way out and my knee was screaming. After I did a pit stop in the men’s room to check out the damage I felt better and went back out and hit Barneys and the Chute again. Damn work… left 10:15 ish 5 1

Johnny Law Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 A very fancy Persian gave me a touch of his illness and I had to sleep in yesterday but made it up today. Snow was super soft thank god as the fog was super thick up top. Herb tourons got in early and often and they had 3d everything by about 1030 or so. Super nice day considering the fog but it continues to be mad busy at blue straight out the gate. 3
C1erArt Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 Figured discretion was the better part of valor and called it a day at 10 when I had to completely stop and thread my way through the crowd at the intersection of the bottom of lower Main and lower Lazy. 2
Johnny Law Posted February 19 Report Posted February 19 Today was pretty good super soft though the fog at the start was the super thick doodle turns type. Some brown around and they were pushing snow at the falls. With the cold we've had it seems unfathomable that its thin but they were definitely playing in the mud. The pink knit jawn lady who works the quad that is related to Wu took a huge chunk of ice to the dome when it came off the roof of the lift shack. Keep your head on a swivel when your out and about. 4

I mentioned to someone this weekend that I was surprised with the arctic cold we've had that they didnt make snow to push Falls to full width. Crazy that they could be having thin spots already after that January 2

Looks like $ before the snow again . . . Hope they snap out of it soon. Can't live and die by that ground penetrating radar stuff over common sense, cold as hell, blow for all your worth. Save the radar for late season when they're trying to stretch. Driving over a marquee trail on a single digit night in January and deciding radar says its deep enough is bananas. Speculation by me, of course. 3

RidgeRacer Posted February 20 Author Report Posted February 20 2-20 night session... I debated on coming out tonight but since I'm not skiing on Saturday, I figured I may as well come out for a RAD (right after dinner) session. Definitely glad I did. Very spring-like tonight weather wise and snow condition wise. Not much in the way of lift lines either. Like law alluded to in a previous post. Feels like we went from winter to spring really quickly. That said, definitely soft snow tonight with enough bumps and lumps to keep the speed in check. Fun but need to keep you head on a swivel type of evening 8
Johnny Law Posted February 20 Report Posted February 20 Rode this afternoon, obviously quite wet but that certainly kept the crowds down. As it was actively raining the snow was very good though vis again was at a super premium. I mostly ran rasins as you can use the fencing to get some reference. All noobs out from what I saw, golf clap for learning on a day such as this. 4
