RidgeRacer Posted March 1 Report Posted March 1 Hey all. Back from another fun session Blue. In the house today we're JFDan, mixl, Askier, Dirtwolf, Mark, BenM, Enjo (and I think I saw pops) and a few others. Conditions were better than yesterday but overall just ok. Rode the OG 6 all morning. First run on NMDW was pretty dang good. Switch was good as well but the best conditions today were on lazy so we skied it multiple times. Didn't try freefall or challenge. Side wasn't bad. I even did a midway to yeti to burma run. Went yeti because main looked terrible. I didn't ski it but others who did ski main said it wasn't good. It was cloudy with some flakes to start but the clouds (really unique looking ones today as a matter of fact) gave way for some really nice sunshine about halfway through the sesh. Overall a very fun day. 8
Schif Posted March 1 Report Posted March 1 Showed up around 9 this morning. Hit snooze a few times and figured an hour to warm up wouldn't be the worst thing. Snow was bad but not horrible. Stayed out until 10:30 or so when I got crashed into by a guy on Midway. Was able to stiff arm him away and stay on my feet thankfully but him and his pointy skis went down. Called it at that point and it seemed like everyone else left. 4 1 1
enjoralas Posted March 1 Report Posted March 1 (edited) Pulled into the lot right about the time the lifts started spinning, dropped the child at Camp and on the lift about 8:30. Ended up on the chair with Mixi for our first run, but we ski slow with stops so lost him on Paradise. Didn't think the snow was that bad until the last run down Main St, that and the people it was time to quit. Got to the lot about 9:45 and looked like everyone was gone, so the food remained packed up. De-booted and Pops shuttled us up to the top lodge where we had a couple drinks amd shared some sausage with Rob and Tim behind the bar. Back down to the lower lot to pick up Grayson, and got him a waffle and myself a brisket baked potato from the Spud Truck. It was good, but a little skimpy on the brisket and cheese sauce so I probably wouldn't spend the $12 on another one. Still want to do a baked potato bar in the lot. Home now and put all the Sausage Sunday provisions away, lol. The pork tenderloin that had been prepped sous vide has been seared and married with a maple apple sauce for luch for the family. Sorry man…I bailed. I think everyone else had stuff happening and had to leave as well. There was end of season party talk on the lift today.
PSUFrankenstein Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 I was planning on a short session at Blue or bear creek this morning but I hurt my foot somehow. Should be back next weekend. 1
AirheadD8 Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 1 hour ago, Benm said: The cloud I was checking them out this morning. Lenticulars can stack up to crazy heights. The North side of that cloud is rising air and south is descending. Once you’re solidly in the wave it’s perfectly smooth air. Under the cloud is rotating column of very turbulent air. It’s been a while since I was in wave but my max altitude was 12,500’ over Beltzville. Over the turnpike tunnel is usually a sweet spot. 2
Schif Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 There was a lot of cloud talk on the lifts today. Thanks for capturing it Ben. Also I was chatting with some patrollers today and they have been getting tons of complaints about coming soon. Apparently the winch cat is broken which is why they haven't groomed that in a week. The patroller today was saying he saw a fairly competent teenage skier just give up on the middle of the TCS headwall and just lay down and slide 50 feet. 2 1

And yeah, when thats bumped up, and icy death, it just knocks another trail off the count, since Razors is pretty much always closed, NMDW is skiable, but still not great. Saturday was better than Sunday for sure. Second session Sat was just softened up enough, but still really crowded.

There was end of season party talk on the lift today. No worries at all. Most of the stuff was the makings of breakfast sammiches, so it'll keep til this coming weekend. Only the pork tenderloin and check steak that had both been done sous vide needed to be eaten, amd the family had pork for lunch and steak for dinner, lol 2
