i went one year for May Day.  And if i went, it was lift served.  i dont know what year it was, but i remember @toast21602 being there as well as many from Blue.  i know there were plenty of years were it was patch skiing, which i would not have participated in.

if you go back in time, BB called it quits, most likely on Sunday April 10th, 2011.  (i posted on Monday April 11th that BB was closed for the season, except of course, to reopen for one day in May.)  I think Camel was open daily until the 10th of April, but continued to reopen Fri, Sat, And Sunday every weekend after.  They made snow in April to extend the season.  

They can now have the crown.  BB closed for a month, and then reopened for one day.  

I will give them credit where it is due.  Nice work Camelback, hope they do it next year.  this was a super fun April.  

Any Pocono resort could blow a whole bunch of snow on a trail and keep it open if they wanted to.  It would be great if this lead to a competition among resorts.  But they wont.  This isnt a blip on Blues radar at all, for sure.  

Agree that CB did a great job. Their grooming is several levels above Blue. The downside of skiing in May was that Cliffhanger was closed because of blowing or ungroomed icy conditions much of the year. Don’t know if Blue has a trail they can do that to. Maybe Challenge, certainly not Razors. And then you have all that run out from the bottom of Challenge.

Jlaw and i were talking about that last Sat.  didnt know how they were managing blowing a shit ton of snow on it, grooming it or not, closing it....etc.  

Seems like once the trail got thin and some dirt poked through, melting just took off rapidly.  there is a river running down it now.

Vista would of course be Blue’s easiest bet to keep open late and far less resource intensive than Cliff

And would gain far less interest.  But being right next to slopeside would be good for business.  but also having people skiing on Vista would i think be a problem for all of the other activities that Blue likes to move on to in April/May.  

Blue doing what Camelback did is not on their radar at all.  And im ok with that.  Moving to Camelback for the late season stuff was a nice change of pace.

The homestretches at Blue kill Blues chances at making this happen. Would be more feasible with the old Main Street setup

Yeah I expect even most Blue Passholders here would drive to Camelback and spend $25 for Cliffhanger over Vista

I could see Montage Northface pulling it off. That area gets little sun and has no runout. I’d shoot for Boomer as the most direct trail and one that is nice with bumps

What's most impressive to me wasn't really the fact that one trail went until May. It was more so the fact that there were 3 decent trails open (variety) in mid April.

That was nice, and staying open during the week when Blue was weekends only.

Camelback, in their closing day post, alluded to more snow, and more trails open later for next spring. lets hope the weather allows for it.
