  1. here's an idea, tear down the park and lengthen the tubing because it's a joke....haven't seen one urban set up, the bleacher jib is covered in snow and set up as a flat box, so what was the point in building it?..every landing has a crater in it and to clear any of the jumps you have to bomb the whole hill, so change the sizes and move the bigger ones over to black bear..this mountain has soo much potential and every year more features and money are pumped into the park yet im still consistantly disappointed...these new "exotic" features are dope but you should learn how to set up a flat box first...."you cant run before you can walk." -JFK

  2. dont have every rail set up the same way(like it is now)...mellow down rails and up rails are where it's at....put more than 4 rails out..if there is enough snow to build a jump, then that means there is more than enough snow to put out several rails...understand what urban means(i saw the staircase and it looks like it has been re-done...problem is it's still isnt anywhere close to being urban..i havent seen a gap onto a staircase since '96)..push the snow up to the sides of the rails so that the front of the rail is sticking out of it...set up the the red rail that is usually at the bottom like this, on a small downslant and at least one of the 15 boxes bear has....turn 2 boxes into a mellow A frame rail, not nearly as steep as they had it before..bring out some tires, barrells, tubes, or whatever junk they can find and set it up...put like 2 rails at the bottom of the mountain for people to hike and mess around on..that's about all i have right now...

  3. Last winter Bear Mt. had both step down and a step up boxes and rails.

the thing with big bear and mammoth is that they think about things before they build their rails...and their set ups are creative and original...they actually progress and i think bear creek should take some notes...

Um...what? The double C and hubba ledge are going to be some of the most trickable features in the park.

first off, look at the rails that i mentioned...when did i ever say something about the double C?...and the "hubba ledge" isnt trickable because it's 5 feet long..there is a difference between a rail being too short and a rail being short...

  4. just some thoughts - bear keeps coming up with these rails and boxes that may look cool when you draw it in your trapper keeper, but they arent going to be fun to hit over and over(step down, the U box, concrete ledge, etc.)....rails and boxes that are trickable are the most fun, which means rails that are simple and not too long...i ride with skiers too and the ones ive talked to arent feeling the step down/up box..clean tricks just dont look that good on it....all the rails are basically set up the exact same right now and it's annoying when kids keep saying it's the beginning of the year...look around at some of the other resorts...a couple ideas for the park would be to first vary up the ways in which the rails are set up....have the red rail at the bottom set up urban and on a down slant.. have an up box with a landing, urban down box, connect 2 boxes to make a mellow A frame rail, not too steep... set up some stalls or bonks(use whatever-tubes, barrells, wood, tires)...the mailbox to cliff drop was pretty dope, try that again...someone mentioned bmx style jumps with a lot of pop, that's a good idea...and set the staircase up more urban(actually push the snow up to the sides of the rails, so theyre sticking out of the lip)..i believe that set ups like this will greatly improve this mountain...

  5. Bear has plenty of flat boxes, they don't need two more. Again...have you even hit the step down box yet?

yeah, bear does have too many boxes, so why did they build the step down?? No box should ever be set up as a step down in the first place...it should be set up as a step up or they should sell it to spring...and boxes like that are only fun if they're wide enough...bear should have built boxes with different widths instead of building the same exact boxes as they do every year, except for the 4 by 20 and the picnic table..

  6. HURRAY!!!great idea i completely agree and i mentioned this already like just put it like a foot off the ground and then like every other week or sumin make it a like 5 foot drop or however they want to make it

nothing needs to be said after an idea like this...

  7. i agree taht the step down needs to be a bit wider and a little shorter, but i cant bust on bear for trying to progress its rails because it is a great idea. I think bear needs to have a flow box thats like 2 or 3 feet wide like boulder always has out, they're real nice to try new stuff on

yeah, they got a dope box that is about 4 ft by 10-15ft...they never seem to bring it out early in the season...they should...every box is the same width right now

  8. actually i just saw the bear edit and the drop down box doesnt look like it has too big of a drop, but i still think the box should of been built a little wider and shorter...anything is better than a straight to drop to straight box....bear shouldnt of even set it up like this in the first place...i guess setting it up as a step up would their best bet, but cutting it in half would be better

  9. A wedge is how rails should be setup. It gives you the option of coming in from different angles for lipslides and what not. Again it was opening weekend, they need to setup things to please the most amount of people.

The ledge is going to be a sick feature. The way it was set up this weekend was good so people could get a feel for it. I agree it should be setup on a slight downward slat and with a gap on in the future.

yeah, but like i said before the rails should be pushed into the lip. by pushing the rail up into the lip a better variation of tricks can be thrown...right now the wedges are gaps on and lipslides dont look good...bear has been doing this for too long...they need to learn

Dont forget guys, the step down could at some point in time become a step up. There are also plenty of features that havent made an appearence yet. If you guys are looking to give feedback and advice you should brainstorm ideas for the future as opposed to criticizing the early season/limited setup that you see now.

some of us have thought of this and the rail is too skinny and long for that to be fun..and the step up looks higher than usual set ups that are like that...it wouldnt be fun for most kids....maybe if the box was a foot wider that would work, but since it's not that wide and is really long, that option wont be fun...brainstorm before you try to make points...

  10. Nope, not like that at all. Down rails, flat rails, gap on, ride on. The hubba ledge is awesome! Good first day set up.

not at all, evey rail is set up with a 2 foot cheese wedge onto a rail that is flat(except for the down box and single barrel rail, which should not have gaps onto them)....bear has to stop living in '99 and start setting things up urban(with the rail built into the lip). Also, i cant decide if the 4 foot long concrete ledge or the 100 foot long step down box gets the worst feature of the year...the concrete ledge should be set up on a downward slant, not flat, too...just some suggestions
