  1. Ya, why didn't they open those new trails?

Wasn't there yet, waiting for them to be 100% before I check it out. I suppose all but the two new trails should suffice.

EDIT: Are the Glades they show on the trail map open?

The post was about the mountain being 100% open as the web site states. IT IS NOT no matter what level the slope is. I love skiing at Sno, however I am getting tired of all their lies or whatever the reason is for the wrong information.

  2. Yes.

A snowmaking war against Elk? Terrain open? I guess anyone who skied both places at the tail end of the last 60 degree temperature stretch would be the best judge. But I heard Elk's blacks were mostly closed or showing bare spots.

Not 100% open. I was there today. Easy street closed, Mainline closed, snake closed.

  3. Really!

My idea of crowded could be a little biased also. I am used to Bear Creek and Blue.

But I pretty much stuck to the Phoeba lift all morning and there was never a line and the trails where pretty empty until around 12 when they started getting a little more crowded but it was still pretty light for me.

I felt the morning was dead but around noon it started to pick up. Seemed like alot of busses in the lot when I was leaving around 2pm

  4. Melissa referred to it as a dark alley, which was pretty accurate. IDK, the made a big deal about switching out the lights and even had a picture of a guy on a roof doing it. I wonder what the holdup is? There a new light at the top of the Boomer headwall, but it's on a timer, so it's either bright or off.

I forgot about lights as a con also. At lkeast until they change them if they really are or not we will have to wait and see.

  5. Pros: They have a nice plan in place for the mountain.

Con: They may be bitting off more than they can chew too quickly. (It should be great when all is complete though).

Also the way they count trails is a bit crazy. Mainline is now counted as 2 trails since they have a terrain park there. Nordic shouldn't even be counted. It's the top of the mountain.

  6. plans for a walkway into the second floor of the lodge is in the works. Where the old stairs were is somehow supposed to become mini golf, but I can't imagine how that's supposed to work.

    Okay, that's all I've heard.

    What second floor?

Where the old stairs were is going to be the end of zip rider. There is a stake in the ground at the top that say end zip rider.

  7. Thats terrible about Cannonball. That trail should definately be a diamond. Also, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DOUBLE SQUARE. I thought CB was the only place to do this but wow, this really sucks.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN AT SNO MOUNTAIN: PLEASE KEEP THE TRAIL RATINGS THE SAME AS THEY HAVE BEEN

I agree the trails were great the way they were. I didn't know that CB had a double square. The first I ever scene this was on the map that Sno's office has.

  8. Wtf, seriously? If they want it to be a square square, whatever, but then they need to groom it. Also, sometimes I think Cannonball is more challenging than Boomer. AND, my friend Sarah who has tried both Smoke and Boomer (I'm too much of a baby to try Smoke yet) thinks that Smoke is def. harder than Boomer. Sno needs to recalibrate its difficulty scale. Even if it's "difficulty inflation," I'd rather see those slopes remain the rating they had before--so people don't think they can take their kids on it or wedge their way down. (Note: I am not knocking people who like to challenge themselves and then fall down, because clearly I've fallen plenty, but some of the people I see just don't even have the skills to get themselves down the slope safely without creating a hazard to themselves and others).

Also, where do you see the new trail ratings? Their website doesn't reflect any changes...

The office up there has a computer print out of it. I went in and asked if they had a new trail map and thats what they showed me. They didn't have enough of them to hand out but htey were fine with letting me look at it at the office window.

  9. Ha. Ha. I've got snow in my jacket to prove it, how's that? haha. I wish you could have seen the second headwall of cannonball. It was a total obstacle course between the bumps, ice, and fallen children. Seriously, we saw so many people bringing young children who could not ski on that slope, it was atrocious. I feel so bad for all those little kids falling/tumbling down the headwalls.

The reason all the people not being able to ski were on the slope is because they changed the rating on it. It is no longer a diamond it is now a square square. I don't know who else uses the 2 square system but this is the first I have scene it. Smoke was also down graded to a single diamond so there may be more skiers on that slope now.

  10. On a similar note, anyone notice that they haven't put out a brochure/pamphlet this year?

Talked to a friend that works at the mountain. These new trails are a joke. Baby moose is behind the lodge for little kids learning how to ski. Zip is basically a very short connection trail. Snake and sidewinder should be the same trail. It actually gets two names because it crosses fast track. Rattler sounds like it has potential and glades is off of fast track. Not sure what the plan for that is since we don't really get that much natural snow here.
