  1. its thanksgiving week, i thought they wouldve made a stronger push then settling for a hike park... I was really looking forward to riding bear tomorrow too, but now i might just head to camelback or boulder again

    They tried...the weather didnt cooperate....

Strap on your board and ride down the steps at a mall.

  2. they should have this hike park from tomorrow until they actually open...none of this one day thing...besides there really prob only like a few days away from opening anyways as long as the temp predictions for tonight and tomorrow night hold

Dissappointed about the hike park....They tried....rock on!

  3. i wouldnt eat lunch at normal lunch time because you will most likely not be able to find a spot in the lodge... or on the deck for the matter. it gets hella packed

Yeah they goota move the gypsies that camp out at the tables....they look like the Joads with their collers and stuff piled all over.

    Especially the house wives....

  4. Why is that an insult? That was a great perk for working there.

Too great, thats why its gone.

When you work in retail the worker usually gets a discount for themselves not family members. It usually ranges 10 -20%

Why should an employee get 4 $25 unlimited passes when season pass holders pay three times and more to ski at bear creek?

  5. That's great that they are scanning all the scammers who pass passes back and forth.

They should really have one scan point (Upon entrance) and scan randomly when people are in line. Too many siightseers walking around the base area....

  6. Now, take your graduate degree in business (that sounds open to interpretation) and go work for a ski area for a "number of years". When you are done, you can come back and tell us your opinion about whether they should have blown snow or not. This is not a snide reply, but rather a serious suggestion.

Open to interpretation? an MBA on top of a CPA is experience open to interpretation? Doubt it..maybe to some.

If Bear pulled the hoses well before this post, that tells me they had no intentions to see if it were possible to continue.

There are many evenings this season they could have blown snow, conditions weren't marginal. Crank 'em up for the weekend crowds yes, but during the week, they slacked off.

I have worked in service industries for years....very familiar w/ the cost benefit analysis. However it is their job to incur the cost and generate the benefit at the same time.

Meaning that if they are going to make the snow, they also have to generate the crowds to make it worth their while.

I don't think anyone who goes there will be surprised in the future when they tighten up their operations to improve the bottom line.

  7. You know, I put this out there because when I see an oppurtunity for business to make some scratch, hey go for it....

If you blow, they will come. How many more would have shown up last weekend for fresh powder?

I think its great they are doing the hikeable thing

If you gatta chance to blow then blow it for Christ sakes.....

If Bear wants to make more money, I can think of many ways to improve their bottom line, without raising prices. I have been going for a number of years and have observed their operations.

I also have a graduate degree in business so i am not some noob....

    See you next year.... ;)

  8. It was horrible today after 11:00 AM

The powder was soft and sticky with the the packed granular underneath. A real work out!!!
