I was there from about eleven thirty till three thirty. I was sad i didn't see anybody from PASR...? Although i lapped the park all day.
Had a great park day, i was impressed with camelbacks park, although i will never understand why bigger mountains dont have a park from the top to the bottom, like bear. the double lift just wasn't doing it for me.
The jumps landings were a little bit icy, but fun none-the-less. i lost a few binding screws and then the last two snapped when landing a 3. So i had to take a snowplow run down because i couldn't use my back foot. Than had to call it a day.
I really would love to go more, but i think that's my last day out.
great season 09-10!

The ONLY reason i still ride bear is because its the closest mountain to me...
everything about this season sucked at bear id say...
-
Just saying what i heard from over five people now.
But next week closing, would be prime!
Last night the last jump on tubing was right on target though.

I've heard from several people that work there now that Bear Creek is closing either this saturday or sunday...
with the amount of dirt spots they had last night, and with all this rain. I dont see it going past this weekend honestly. Bear doesn't care enough to keep it open longer.
-
if bears still open......
-
Why is everything at bear breaking!?
C box is not set up right, landings not close enough or something.
cascade jumpling is so prime though!
bears not gunna hold up much longer with this 60 degree weather..
-
GSS get outta here...
Anyone feel like every day they go they are parking in mud or gravel? Or whenever you try to get something to eat, every table is taken up with people just sitting around on their laptops? I think bear creek needs to expand.. lol
You gotta look for them secret spots... i've never parked in the mud or gravel..
-
yeah ice is normally fast.
fuck east coast night riding.
and fuck shoveling for hours upon hours
Shoveling sucks.
We've had pretty good night riding this year. but what can you say, its east coast.

get park passes. small children pizza wedging across a landing is a huge safety hazard to them and whoever is hitting a jump. your insurance company would love you, as would the local park riders who deal with mad gapers every weekend.
x2, this skiier dad and his sons cut right across the nuckle on the top jump of cascade while i was in the air. If i would've extended my leg, his head would've been off.

that made me chuckle haha!
I like the new setup alot. This is the first time in forever I have seen bear with an urban down box.
I like it but I think its almost too steep for how short it is. It also has a hard impact from landing
off of it. I love the fdf > candycane line though its sickkkkkk. Lets just make that last circle rail an up rail
and it will be legit
bravo
x2 Urban down box is awesome! but I agree with you. give it a slightly downhill landing. and maybe a little less steep.

Today was sick. Snow was soft, jumps were perfect, park crew setup some nice lips on the rails and the landings weren't all blown out. However, glad I had some new wax on my board though because one of the people I was riding was having speed issues on the snow.
x2.
Speed was deffinitly an issue, could only hit the top jump in cascade :-(
to all you kids asking for a flat up flat... you snowboard, don't you? toast is right, that's asking for death if you ski. i havent been to bear in about two weeks, but last time i was there, the dfd was pretty fun. its nice and low to the ground and good to learn stuff on before taking it to a bigger dfd.
Too bad we dont have a bigger DFD to take it too.
We need a nice high mellow one. fer surre.
-
step up jump would be prime.
Change in setup period would be more prime.
-
Lets just always copy boulder
I never like those butter pads. but that one looks a little better than just a flat block of ice...
-
lets get back to the topic of waffles...is it a waffle haus like up in Vermont where the waffles can be dipped in chocolate???
samme is killington.. i believe
-
good to hear mark! i was afraid of what might happen to bear with this crazy warm spell.
i'll be back as soon as my wisdom teeth heal up!
-
baby park is open its pretty sick actually too
...spoke to soon...
-
whats with bear building up all of their lips on all of the "urban" rails making it about a 2inch gap to get onto the rail.
Learner friendly i assume. since its the beginning of the season + they dont have the beginner terrain park open yet.

well if your looking for spots your gonna want to be willing to go farther than 10 minutes away from bear creek

while its a bummer you can't open soon, i just want to let you know that its awesome how much information you're giving everyone here mark. it's a lot more than some of the other ski areas do, and it means a lot to keep your season pass holders and regulars updated on what's going on when we're all dying to get on snow.
x2
LOoks like you guys have an insannne amount of snow! but i can wait till thursday

I know there's a TR on 12/12 already, but i figured id write one up for the park
Got there right around ten, had a reasonable amount of cars in the parking lot. but not full.
Grabbed a lift ticket and headed up the right side to freedom park. Which remains the only park with features on it.
Great setup! everything was really smooth and done just right. The jump is near perfect, no need to skip a few rails to get speed for it.
There was hardly a line at all untill about noon/one o clock. And right about then the park crew came out and went to work. Park was upkept really well and everything stayed really nice till i left at about three.
The other side was also alot of fun! random death cookies and ice sheets made iffy at parts. but they had some nice loose snow on boulder park and snow drift, great hips and walls to jump off of, and all sorts of fun things to play around on.
Great park, good snow, grooming could've used some work. But all in all, a great day at boulder!
i would suggest heading up before your home mountain opens to get some awesome turns.
