  1. As usual the PA conditions don't help either. Warm temps mixed with well below freezing temps don't help the grooming process. Most of the times the grooming is spot on, it just seems to be random days. I always stick up for the mountain when speaking with guests on the lift. I love the work you guys have been putting in the park. It has come along nicely and compaired to last year we already have like 2 times the riding days in :)

  2. They modified the lip again and yes, the last foot of the kicker pops you up now. They have changed the lip like 3 times now. We were dropping in from up at the lifts and cutting no speed just strait down black bear and off the kicker.

  3. Bringing the thread back to life. I've noticed early week days, such as tuesdays like today, have a less than stellar grooming. The slopes were almost perfect sunday and monday morning. Then once again Tuesday spotty grooming. 3 - 6inch transitions in the middle of trails, random icy groomer tracks, ruts and uneven rollers. I really don't mind so much myself as I love terrain park and all conditions, but I've seen some interesting grooming on a couple Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I've actually heard a few guest talk about writing letters to managment as they bring their kids to learn at Bear Creek. Below par grooming leads to below par conditions and prevents riders from returning to the mountain. On a good note the big kicker in black bear is fun to hit when the conditions allow you to get enough speed. Sorry for the slightly negative post but I've been hearring it a lot the last couple weeks from guests that I meet on the lifts.

  4. Bear must be hurting for income this season. They called to let me know they were extending the early bird specials into november and calling all the previous season pass owners to raise awarenes. I thanked her and told her I already bought mine in october. Funny, seams like PASR brought them a lot of revinue but couldn't hook us up with a discount. No wonder your season pass sales are down. 5. Indeed, Thank You. I just picked up an offpeak pass this year since we don't get a discount. If this log in works like the last few years, we will most likely be getting the early bird rates all season. So even though it doesn't give us a discount, others that can't afford a pass till closer to the season may still be able to get the early bird rates using this log in. No way to know, but I know atleast one of my friends still got the discount in December before Bear opened last season.
See you Guys on the Slopes!

  6. I'm a towny. Grew up in Ktown, went to college here. I freebord and snowboard. Getting a bear pass fo sho. Closer we get to winter the more excited I get. Small mountain hard not to find who you are looking for because they are always in the park, like me most of the time :)

  7. The kids are outta control lately. They don't belong cutting across the landings. What is worse are the parents who don't even notice or care that this happens. It is a lose lose the only way they will learn is after someone takes off their dome piece. Please Stay out of the landing area I'm not hurting myself to save you.......

  8. There is no way Bear is going to open the same time it did last year. It was like summer out today. I'll have a chat with the Mother and see if she can throw us a bone. I am not promising anything though.

I agree, seriously, it is still warm enough to walk around in shorts and a tee shirt man.

  9. I believe the Price is fair and with the economy everything is getting more expensive. Fuel, Heat, Electricity, so as stated above they need to get money somewhere. I understand you are not complaining but $50 isn't much of a concern with the way the economy is running. I'm ready to get the Shredding on ASAP.

  10. I bought my first snowboard this season. I picked it up quickly and was riding the terrain park in a month. Thanks for the epic jumps and the ill rails. Totally worth all of the pain. Next season I think I will board even more. THANKS EVERYONE and I already miss bear -_-. See you on the mount next season.

  11. What do we mean second last full season. You think global warming is gonna really heat up and kill the PA snowboarding seasons from now on???? I hope not and by the way I bought a custom element from www.ccs.com and I ride at least 3 times a week.

  12. I fly down the mountain in control all the time. If they yell at me i will tell them thanks for the advice and move on my way. If they follow me around I consider that harassment as will everyone else. They already had one guy fired for it, so I would take it to hart if they yell at you. You paid for your season pass you have every right everyone else does, and I signed that wavier saying if i get hurt it is my problem. I'll keep it at that....

  13. I board better alone. Sounds strange but then I keep complete concentration on what I am doing and hardly fall. When I board with others I try to see what they are doing and seem to be accident prone to falling and/or cutting someone else off. I do enjoy riding with others and try to pay more attention now after I totally took someone out. Hasn't happened since but i felt bad. The dude got up and was totally cool about it, I apologized but he said it was ok we all have to do it at least once. Also yesterday around 4:30 the terrain park was packed it was like an accident waiting to happen but i didn't see anyone get hurt. All in all yesterday was a nice snowboarding day.
