  1. Hey Guys,

I got word from group sales that they will no longer be honoring discounted group season pass rates. However, they now offer "lower rates for all" if you purchase your pass before the end of october. Last season I asked for even lower rates due to the amount of revenue we brought them (it was very significant) and obviously got the denial. Below are the prices for early bird passes:

Earlybird Season Pass Rates (Purchased By 10/31/13) Rate Adult Unlimited
    • Valid open to close, every day
    $375 Youth (6-21)/Senior (62-69) Unlimited
    • Valid open to close, every day
    $320 Off-Peak
    • Valid any non-resort holiday Monday through Friday, open to close
    • Valid every day after 4pm
    • Valid anytime opening day to 12/23/13
    • Valid anytime 3/3/14 to closing day
    $285 Value Pass
    • Valid any non-resort holiday Monday through Thursday open to close
    • Valid anytime opening day to 12/23/13
    • Valid anytime 3/3/14 to closing day
    $170 Unlimited Family
    • Valid open to close, every day
    • Valid for IRS dependents and spouses.
    $1,490 Off-Peak Family
    • Off-Peak restrictions apply
    • Valid for IRS dependents and spouses.
    $1,130 5 & Under/70 & Over $25

Sad news...That Value Pass is a joke considering their season usually starts second week into December and struggle to last thru March. May have to get an offpeak before the price spike.....probably best to save up and take a few good trips out of town....decisions decisions

  2. I see why you get the feeling of the closed group feel, but everyone from here I've met couldn't be more welcoming when you meet them. I only started on here like 2 years ago and have only posted for about a year and now I always have people to ski/ride with wherever I go in PA.

yeah definitely good overall vibe in here otherwise

Stick around and keep posting Nodaysoff. PASR is a very welcoming bunch. More so than Alpine Zone. I remember when one dude posted that he was from PA in the welcome thread they basically told him to come here. lol

BTW has anyone else resorted to reading PASR while driving (well at red lights at least?) :help

    LOL geez

I think the only person still regularly on here in the fifty to sixty year old age bracket is me... And I'm the token liberal...

    I add diversity.

    lol that's awesome

I'm in the 45-50 aging punk rocker liberal demographic. I just keep politics to myself. This is a recreation-based site, so taking shit seriously has no real place here.

    And now, back to .gifs:

  3. Whats your number for "core group"? and why has it been weeded down this core group? Think about the number of people that ski in PA vs the number of people on this board. There might be something that keeps people from posting here.

i'm not calling you out or anything, but think about it.

    This........

    Aannnnnnd

It was always a long shot from the start. Look around PA mtns, 1% if that are actually decent skiers and a smaller percentage of that is super obsessed with skiing like PASR people are.

Then they have to also be people who do shit on-line like talk to total strangers, beyond that they have to get past the tight knit aspect of this place, in a sense its kind of an all boys club.

That's a pretty rare group of people.....

This. Definitely get that closed group feel in here. That walk in::look around::walk out type of awkward feel lol. It is what it is though. I don't post much, mainly lurk/check the roll calls-conditions to determine whether or not I'm up for the drive to Blue....Seems a bit routines in here- the seasoned posters meet up early for a session, peace out round noon and do it over again. Not much variation, I used to think majority of the riders in here was in the 50-60yrOld bracket LOL. Just sayin.....my2cent :wave:glare:

Sidenote: any accumulation going down at blue tonight, sucks how the storm barely touched us. If it wasn't for work a NE road trip would've been on deck

  4. Yeah not looking good…at all for BC. I think spots like BC would benefit from layin some SnowFlex down as a base in the parks. This way they can still generate some movements during times like this when mother nature becomes inconsistent. Would also mean year round jibbing too. I think you can still stack a pretty solid base over snowflex once the temps are right. Just sayin…

  5. Did you used to run a resort or something, why so harsh on the internal workings of ski areas??? Or are you just the type of fella that gripes at dominoes while waiting for a pizza cause they're so disorganized???

    Too funny

Cool thread none the less, was a;ways curious about BC's operation......Any chance of "more runs" "adding acreage" rumors?

  6. Even hardcore PA skiers usually quit at the end of March...just saying I don't see CB making much $ from here on out.

Thats it in a nutshell right there. since we have had some warmer days, most people are going to flower shows, car shows, tailgating at the local wal-mart....etc. there is definetly a much smaller audeince for skiing in march, then say January.

Thats tru, i guess areas like PA is not use to extended seasons (consistantly), so they switch modes both mentally and physically. New England is still in wintermode, out west, etc.

They have the snow and anyone who skied there last weekend knows they had the people to stay open for sure.. With the other mountains closed (except Boulder which leaves CB to pretty much monopolize all the non park peeps), they would be pretty dumb not to cash in on at least one more weekend IMO

    agree

  7. CB got about 14" of fresh today which is cool, even though I'm here at work thinking I should've called out. Anyways, while looking at the near forecast for CB, I notice there hi is 33 degrees with a lo of 14 overnight for about 4 consistent days. So my question is: why is sunday there last day for winter season? They have the overnight temps to keep it going, unlike Bear and Blue. Is it just a rational thing to do from a business standpoint? One would think with the demand for skiing/riding, and the fact that they'd be the only mountain open in PA after this weekend, the ball would still be rolling even if they have to switch the hours of operation. No? Not really sure how the politics of ski resorts work out, just curious.

  8. Waddup people,

Was thinking of hitting Blue tomorrow, any predictions on what Blue mountain conditions will be like once the rain is done? Currently debating b/w Blue and 7springs, 7S is an extra two hours away from me but may be worth it since their gettin 3-5" of snow(possibly wet snow).

  9. It looks like I am a day late and a dollar short for this conversation, since the Tuesday sessions are now finished for the season, but please allow me to add my $0.02 anyway. I make no claims about my freestyle ability, I am just an old fart who has been around the industry a long time.

    First, some history:

Bear Creek hired me to be the Freestyle Coach in December of 2006. At that time, there wasn

  10. Im a snowboard instructor and saying this as a freestyle rider not an instructor you are way better off taking one just for the simple fact that they know the correct way to do it and it will make your time in the park more enjoyable. You will learn things first rather than learning from falling. I would recommend taking one!

Yeah I know what you mean with the falling part. Lol. I been watching videos(SBaddiction, etc) so I have a basic concept and understanding, just need the visual feedback. It seems like every week the lesson is focus on certain features, guess ill call and see what's up. Thanks

  11. Waddup people, new guy here.

This is my 3rd season snowboarding, just recently started messing around in the family park @ BC (mainly jumps). I was thinking about taking a freestyle lesson @ Bear on Tuesday nights since I ride alone most of the time and kind of feel like I need a little push on my progression. Has anyone taken a freestyle lesson @ Bear? Is it worth it? Would I be better off taking a lesson at another spot like Blue, JFBB, etc?

Thx in advance for any suggestions
