1. I feel like I need to clear some things up, because PAsucks has his facts completly wrong.

Let's start with some info about our groomers. We have five, including a Bombardier with a terrain park package and a new 2004 Pisten Bully with a terrain park package. We also have a new 2004 Zaugg that we use to cut the halfpipe, which is state-of-the-art in the industry. As far as our terrain park features, we build 90% of them in house. Also, as far as national media attention, in just the past few months we were listed in both Freeskier and incorrectly listed in Transworld. And let's not forget that we were the mountain chosen to be featured on Viva la Bam last season, which brought international attention to our resort. We are also hosting a nunch of competitions in our parks this season, including our own SHOWDOWN series, two MASS competitions and a JEEP King of the Mountain qualifier.

I was talking about "groomers" as in the grooming crew. Not the actual equipment. BCparkboy mentioned that they only have one "groomer" that knows how to groom the park.

Also, you may have been "listed" in 2 mags, but you are NEVER featured. MC is almost always featured whenever it comes to park rankings. ooooh Viva La Bam? Thats because Bam lives near BC! It has nothing do to with terrain parks.

Im very proud of you. You are boasting about hosting ho-hum snowboarding events.

PA Sucks ur facts suck alot of high end resorts use rails built by companies... have u hever heard of SUPERPARK? aka now tools rails and thy have the best park out there as well as vail who uses planet, um hood, heavenly??? no ur right no GOOD resorts buy rails, you should argue that some more.. and also isnt the JIB LAB formed from one of those companies and mtn creek just bought the employees? Yeah your right on that one

    you are wrong.

    Mount hood builds their own.

Heavenly builds their own. Day Franzen owns railsbuilders.com and also builds the park at heavenly.

    Vail Builds their own.

Bear Creek = needs to buy them

  2. PA sucks man just grow up.. honestly no one cares for your childish little remarks about mountain creek.. im gonna go on a mt creek website and be like oh you cant even compare mc to whistler and blah blah blah..

GROW UP! mountain creek doesnt care about you so why make these stupid rants? id understand if you were the owner of the mt.. but ummm your NOT!

bla bla....BCparkkid is full of himself and its interesting fun to prove him wrong. Its completely unbelievable for him to say that his park crew (aka a crew that NOONE has ever heard of in the industry) is comparable to that of "upper level" resorts. YET, as GOOD as they are NO mags features Bear Creek, no mags have any photos (except ONE time), no mags rank them as being worth anything in park review, NO promoters host any bigtime events in their park. WHY? Seriously, WHY? Because BCs parks is "so-so" at best. Average. If it were ANYTHING special, it would be getting more national recognition like MC has for years. ! So I guess in his head his crew rocks! :rock

    Pure comedy!

Also, didnt someone post that Bear Creek actually has to buy some of their rails? No reputable resort "buys" rails. They build em. All of em.

  3. Only a 2 people have no prior experience, and all but two travel and compete so they have all seen how things are susposed to be done, the rest have had a background in park building on some level, and the groomer that we work with basically on a daily basis has been to cutters camp a few times. I think as far as park crews go, we have one of the best, even including your very upper level resorts, there is a management here that is fully pumped up about freestyle, not to mention the comments from our riders, which i must say ive heard nuffing but good since the revamped park crew started this year

you guys only work with one "groomer"? That says it all. MC's park crew ARE the park groomers has 4 park groomers and all of them have 5+ years of park experience. So how can you compare yourself to "uppler level" resorts when you can't even compare with MC?

Why don't you stop with the childish insults and answer the questions this time. You probaly won't because you know you are wrong.

  4. bla bla bla..you guys are fools and the best part about it?>>> you know you are.

I've already made my points, its obvious you guys are afraid to face the truth. Deal with it, BC sucks!

Oh yea, BCparkdork....the day you guys learn how to build a park is the day you can start spraying shit from your mouth...Until then, shut it cuz you suck...

ps. i just seen the latest transworld and there was like 10 photos of mountain creek in it......Hmmmm.. how many photos of bear creek?

    you lose!

  5. the only thing mountain creek has over bear is a nice super pipe. the jumps arent any bigger.

    Are you on drugs?

Every aspect of MC's park BLOWS Bears away. How many times do we have to go over this!>>!>!!????

-MC has the Jiblab....ie some of the best jibs in the country. The jibs at Bear Creek look like a couple of amatuers from metal class built them.

-MC knows how to setup jibs. Bear does not. Bear Creeks park is like a park you would see 5 years ago. Very oldschool!

-Variety. MC has every jib imaginable and MULTIPLEs of some. Bear Creek has the basics

-Amount of features. MC has sooo many more features its not even comparable

-Pipe. Does Bear Creek even have a pipe?

-Events - MC is hosting a Grand Prix event!!!!! That says it all!!!! whats the most prestigous event that Bear hosts? hmmmm a USASA??? wooop deee dooooo!!! Also, MC was chosen to host this years Transworld Trans-Am and other sick events. WHY? because their park is the best in the area.

ALL you little PA whiners can keep claiming about Bear Creek but we all know in the back of your minds you KNOW that MC blows it away. ........ losers.

Oh yea...Isnt Bear only 500vertical feet total? Umm correct me if im wrong, but more than one of MC's parks have DOUBLE the vertical of BEars entire mountain!!! Comparing Bear Creek to Mountain Creek is like comparing Mountain Creek to Whistler!!!!! ie. Not even in the same league!!!

  6. dude why do u keep coming back. dont u get the hint NO ONE likes u.mtn creek is over crowded and its that simple. keep ur ass over there less people on our mountians then

DUDE...Do you think I care if any of you like me?

    NOOOOOOO

You people are ignorant. If you ride during the midweek, Mountain Creek is not overcrowded and its got a park that Bear Creek only DREAMS of building. No matter what you say, and how many times you keep claming it, the REAL riders know that MC is worlds better than Bear.

  7. iF ANYONE DOESENT WHY?? I THINK THEY HAVE GREAT IDEAS FOR THERE PARKS. :rock:rock:rock

    Yep. You are right.

To me its a waste to go to Bear Creek when I can easily drive an extra 1/2 hour and get to Mountain Creek.

Mountain Creeks park has Bear Creeks park beat in every possible way. Design, flow, variety, difficulty, # of features, grooming, setup...you name it! The only advantage to Bear Creek is that its less crowded on the weekends which doesnt matter to me because only idiots ride on the weekend, everyplace is crowded.

Its an easy decision. THe only people that should be going to Bear Creek is the people who don't drive or cant afford gas. Or beginner park riders.

  8. maybe some of us just dont feel like driving 2 and a half hours to ride? i dont see why everyone is so set on everything being street style. who cares if gaps onto rails are out of style? who sets whats in style anyway? i dont find street style to be any harder, its just different. personally, i'm more comfortable hitting a street style rail than hitting a 10 foot gap onto a rail, the consequences are so much greater. i'm surprised no one has touched on this before, but did it ever occur to you that maybe the mountains that get ranked highest contriubute to the magazine by advertising in it, thus giving transworld money? this is how gear reviews are conducted for the most part. if you look at any gear guide, at least on the ski side of things (i dont snowboard so i dont know how their reviews go) the companies that turn out the "best" skis always have the biggest or most adds consistantly in a magazine. wonder why k2's didnt make freeskier's editor's choice this year? its because they spent their advertising budget making skeeze instead of putting ads in freeskier. see the connection yet? bear creek doesnt have the kind of cashflow to throw adds into every single snowsports mag out there. there is however, a short writeup in this months freeskier on bear. with no advertising whatsoever. so i guess they're doing something right with their insignificant little hill, huh?

I've never seen a 'Mountain Creek' ad in Transworld, Snowboarder or any other mag for that matter. This theory doesnt hold any weight.

Hunter advertises in those mags and you DONT see Hunter in them! Killington advertises and Killingtons park isnt ranked. Also, the resort guide is based on reader reviews, not editors choice.

  9. Like i said its personal preference. Not everyone around her is a MAJOR freestyle expert. you gotta work your way up to street style. And if theyre not ready for street style ofcourse theyre gonna like bear better.

You didnt answer the question. Why wasn't Bear featured? hmmmmmm. :nono

Beginners may like Bear better. But that certainly doesnt mean its a "better park". MC overall has the best park in the mid atlantic, argueably the east.

Care to answer the question? How could Transworld be so bold to OVERLOOK and to not mention the Terrain Park Superpower known as Bear Creek? :wave

  10. u actually gained alittle respect from me. you actually posted a comment with detail that explains why you think mc is better instead of being an ignorant asshole.

Thats cool if u think mc it better which it is. But its more personal preference then nething. Some people think bear creek setups up theyre shit better than mc. Its all about the rider. Not who has the better setup. If the rider likes to be able to get onto a rail without doing it street style thats cool. Maybe hes working on his style more than street type stuff. Then he will like bear creek better and think bear creek it better. But maybe u like street style rail and ull like mc better. u cant really compare the 2 mountains in aspect of park. the vert and number of competeion is compare about the the park itself isnt.

Bear setup is oldschool. MC sets their stuff up like the west coast resorts. Setting jibs up with big gaps is not really "in" these days. Look at resorts Like Bear, Ca , Park City and Mammoth. Almost everything is streetstyle. This setup makes riders better. You need to OLLY to get on a rail like skating. Personally, other than this message board Ive NEVER met anyone that thinks Bear is better. Im sorry, I just dont think you guys in PA have a clue.

Answer one question. Transworld Resort Guide lists and features the best parks in the country... Mountain Creek was featured. Bear wasnt even mentioned. Is this because Transworld doesnt have a clue and you guys are right?

  11. Keep him around... He is entitled to his "wrong" opinion :)

As long as we don't get off into profanity, from what I understand he isn't doing much different than what led to the creation of this board.. Let him speak, it apparently makes him feel good! :)

WORD!!! there is always one or two in a bunch ... :D

We are happy to be of service to you PASUCKS!! :)

Bear may have a few dedicated park guys...but Mountain Creek has like 30! Seriously. Its cool that you dig your little local riding spot, but there WERE a few people on this board CLAIMING its better than MC. TO THOSE of you claiming this, you really must be dilusional. SORRY!!!! Its ok to have your own opinion, but at least admit your ignorant.

Bear Creeks total skiable/rideable acreage is only 90 acres.

Mountain Creeks parks are 65 acres! BY SIZE alone you can't even compare the 2 resorts.

MC has bear beat on all fronts.

Parks - MC beats in variety, # of features, innovation, flow, you name it. You just cant compare

Events - MC has the Grand Prix, Peanut Butter and Rail Jam and the only east coast Transworld Trans Am

Superpipe - Does Bear even have a regular pipe?

Verticle - MC is double the vertical

Rankings - Every year Transworld, Snowboarder, Freeskier all rank MC as one of the best parks in the country. Does Bear Creek event get mentioned? I just got the new Transworld Resort guide and they DONT even mention bear. Still think Bear is better?

Seriously...Pride in your local riding spot is cool. But don't spam all these message boards with false-hype. The day that Bear Creek beats MC in Parks is the day that MC gets hit by an avalanche. NOT HAPPENING!

  12. Incase anyone here wants to know i figured id hook ya up wit some names of the people who will be keeping Bear creek at the head of the class in terrain parks this year

    Head of the class?

    What class? Pennsylvania?

You guys can hype up yourselves up all you want, but theres no way you are in the same league as mountain creek.

  13. Can someone explain to me what is so odd looking about our features? I'm sorry I forgot ledges aren't popular on boxes... right... U just got an invite up to the house this winter. When you see the setup I will respect your opinion because Im really cool like that... but until then, keep your mouth shut. If i had the money to spend hundreds of dollars on metal materials I would, but I don't... for now I build affordable stuff that doesn't break. And the setups are a thing of beauty. I have plenty of people to back me up.

A thing of beauty? What are you smoking? Based on the photos you've posted. Its more like good try for a backyard "bob villa" park, but its not the real deal. Not even close.

    Your jibs = :no

  14. Okay people please listen up... My little brother PARKRIDER used my name on here and didn't know it because he is a dumb F***... Notice that I do not curse on here (that often :halo ) Everything that you read, please disregard it and aim your focus and attention to PARKRIDER. I absoutely love mountain creek, its where I learned and gained my passion for freestyle riding. With that said, to say I have no experience is ABSOLUTE BULLSH*T. I know more about freestyle fabricating and design than anyone on here. Can you weld? Can you build half the sh* I spend my life doing? Believe it or not tough guy my life is parks, as of august of '06 my ass ships off the Green Mountain College to life on Killy to major in ski resort management and business operations, then its off to an internship at mammoth mountain with a person call Oren Tanzer (who I have spoken too already). Oren is single handily responsible for having Mammoth's parks and pipes in both transworld and snowboarder magazine's top 10 every year. Tell me what you have in your back yard... I have plenty of people on here who can back me up that my life revolves around freestlye progression. Make sure u look at the PIC of the day as well, it doesn't look like your box on there. Now that i have vented.... I'm sure you were just going with the moment and didn't realize that it wasn't me talking. So i apologize for any out bursts. Finally... buy a ticket to shawnee because whether you think it will be good or not, Its gonna kick ass. Thats a fuck*n promise!

Its cool that you are super stoked on learning to build parks, but the point i was trying to make is that you really have no experience. Building wooden features in the back of your house isnt really helping you. No resort builds thier stuff out of wood. Also, maybe im confused, but don't resorts use snowcats? Do you know how to drive one ? Maybe once you start your internships it will be a different story, but for right now you are just like the rest of us with crappy homeade features in their backyards. Don't act all high and might because you built a few odd loooking wooden features, they are not as great as you think they are.

  15. So... it's pretty cool that ParkBuilder got a new job, eh?

You two sound like a couple of little girls, knock it off.

    35479

Yea. He's now employed by one of the shittiest resorts in the east!

    :nana

Why didnt he just apply at MC? Oh yea, thats right. He's never built a park before.

  16. Mountain creek doesnt have much more vertical, well not enough to large noticable difference

    35471

Huh? Its DOUBLE the vertical of Bear. Get it? Bear Creek X 2. I'm not saying MC is BIG, I'm just pointing out how tiny Bear actually is.

  17. do you even want to hear about the cork screw rail there trying to build?

    35464

    Keyword = Trying

Rails like that are circuslike. And why are they trying to build that when its already been done before? Squaw valley has one, Timberline had one. Its not really anything that great.

I just went on Bear Creeks website and noticed that they only have 500vertical feet? You are kidding right? I mean seriously, MC is small enough...you can't tell me that some tiny resort with 500ft of vertical is going to dethrone them. Mountain Creeks Parks alone are double the vertical.

  18. I've got news for you, EVERY mountain is empty on weekdays, even Killington, so it doesn't take a local to tell you that  Every post you've made so far is negative, and your username is "PAsucks"  This is PAskiandride, I don't get it, why even join if you're just going to continue to rag on PA mountains, and promote MC?  I've been to MC, and I'll take Blue Mountain, hell, even CAMELBACK (Yes Adam, i DID just say that) over MC.  I'm sure you know your stuff, so instead of telling BC that they're doing stuff wrong, why not suggest ways to improve.  Move jumps where, put certain rails where...Contribute.  It's the only way places improve, if they hear constructive criticisms.  It may not be your home mountain, but it would sure be appreciated by all the die hard BC fans.  :rock

    35460

    Lets be friends!

I agree as a resort, Mountain Creek has its downfalls. I was speaking specifically about the park. You don't see resorts like Bear Creek or Camelback or Shawnee hosting Olympic qualifiers of Grand Prix Events. And you dont see them showing up in magazine top-10 park rankings. MC has.

Anyone ever shoot fire out of their ass?

  19. Becareful what you say, Bear Creek is blowing up. And has the potential to be the best, im calling park of the year out of pa and MC...we will see though.

    35455

Histerical. Bear Creek had some decent jibs last year but they have no idea how to set them up. Their park doesnt flow at all. And the place is tiny. Mountain Creek is hosting the Olympic qualifiers this year and i heard they are investing a ton of money in the park. Bear Creek doesnt have enough experience to overtake MC. they do a good job for what they have, but it really isnt that great.

Isnt there a thread about them having to buy their rails? MC has been been building their own rails for years and many consider them one of the best. period. Its cool to see another resort stepping it up, i just think they are outclassed.
