  1. If you look close the next time you ride a lift, you will see a "catch" on the other side of the sheeve(wheel). It is there to catch the cable if there was ever to be a derail. It only let's the cable drop a few inches. And they have finger switches on each one to stop the lift if and when this happens. There is also a counter weight at the bottom of each lift, witch drops to counter act the slack in the line to keep the lift line from hitting the ground. I worked as a lift mechanic for 3 yrs at bear creek and was lucky enough to never see this happen, but there are so many fail safes to save the lift riders that you would never hit the ground or really come close. Unless the cable snaps. Every year they have to test each and every chair and lift line. For the grips(clamps on top of the chair) they run 3 test on each one. And for the chairs and lines they actually load the chairs with 55 gallon drums of water to act as people weight and they run multiable test on roll back and stopping power of each lift and line. But still no one can predict what mother nature brings as far as wind and weather. Hope this helps

  2. Hey everyone,

Thanks again for all the input. It looked like we were getting over the hump with snowmaking and then Tuesday's deluge set us back again. On the bright side the grooming staff has really stepped it up a notch with the addition of Dave Shankey direct from Deer Valley, Utah!

Ok, here are a few questions that we would appreciate you taking the time to answer. They are simple questions that will help us determine how we should proceed with the development of our parks.

Keep up the great work Mark....U :rock ..........Drew

  3. Dude, they ran out of water in their ponds is what I am hearing. I am not sure why, but that is the word...

There should be water in the ponds now from yesterday and todays run off. The warm weather did take a lil bit of a toll on them today. But if you were there the last few days you should've noticed there wasn't a halfpipe there. O wait the thing was completely filled with snow. There's snow there, the groomers just aren't pushing it . And with todays warm weather they might not even groom tonight.I know from my grooming experience, that you can't push in the warm temps. You'll lose more then half of what you push. I know today i threw a bunch of rocks from the lift lines while i was waiting to get on the lifts

  4. The place was pretty packed. But it wasn't to bad. We had a few long waits in line, but all in all it was a good day out again. As the day progressed it got slushy . The terrain parks were in pretty good shape and i did get to watch my friend eat $h!t . So that made it really worth it :rock We did get quit a few runs in, in the few hours we were there.

Thanks thinksnow for fixing that for me

  5. Hellz yea dude....me and my boys gonna be up there from open till whenever :rock
