  2. All gone. :(

We should have a sticky thread detailing where/how to get the cheapest tickets at ALL the mountains.

At least, we should should cover all the PA mountains. VT would be nice as well.

I think a thread like this should be free of discussion and have just factual posting.

Here's a list of the '09 Customer Appreciation/Demo Days I found on the King of Prussia Ski Club site. Lots of $20 & $25 days, but it's a pretty far drive to get to most of the ski shops selling these tix.

  3. I like Elk for their variety of trails, long runs, and the VT/NH feel. I prefer CB and Blue for their steeper diamonds and high speed lifts. I ski mostly mid-week mornings, so crowds and snow conditions are hardly ever a factor for me, but I'm sure Elk would win these categories on the weekends.

  4. JFBB has had free (customer appreciation) days for the last 2 seasons, although it seems peak has eliminated it this year. you still had to get a ticket, but they just had people standing by the ticket windows handing them out.

    Jordan

Went by myself last year, ticket window dude even asked me how many I wanted. The snow was still pretty good for late March too. Wish they'd do it again this season.

  5. Great snow report Timeless. The lanes on Marjies were strange, but at least it was fresh man-made stuff and no ice. Overall the snow was really good this morning.

The one part about this morning that you left out was the 35-minute delay in the opening of the lifts. At 8am we were told that one of the detachable chairs was spaced incorrectly and they needed to cycle the chairs through. 15 Minutes later we were told that the groomers were still on the mountain. It wasn't until 8:35am that the groomers left the mountain and the lifts open. Would have been nice if they just told us they'd be opening at 8:30.

  6. Wow that would be insane if Camelback was open tomorrow...do they have enough coverage to make it through a night of 60 degree temps and rain??

I passed by CB today and saw that they had piles of snow under plastic tarps near the school area and also in the snow tubing park. It looks like they plowed the snow off the trails to help keep it from melting in the rain. Guessin' they'll spread these out so that they can have something open tomorrow.

  7. After closing at 4 today, they'll be closed till they can make more snow :banghead

This will probably be the story for all the area resorts. Hopefully all this warm weather will be behind us in a few days and everyone's 100% open by the end of January.

  8. I was checking out their website and I saw their 'Ski free on your Birthday' promotion.

If your birthday is in the off season, follow the dates below.

May - Your birthdate in Dec.

June - Your birthdate in Jan.

July - Your birthdate in Jan.

Aug.* - Your birthdate in Feb.

Sept.* - Your birthdate in Feb.

Oct. - Your birthdate in March

Has anyone taken advantage of this, and is there a 'catch' such as requiring you to bring a certain number of people with you? Is the savings worth the 3 hour drive from Camelback, or would I be better off at Hunter or Windham?

Sounds like a great promo, anyone know if other area resorts do this?

  9. Was a great day to be back on the snow. There was decent amount of people for the morning session. They didn't get Come Around open until about 10:30am, so everyone had to do Easy Out, Vista, Midway, (lower) Main St. Once open, the upper part of Main was in really good shape and people seemed to enjoy the park features (2 rails, 2 jumps). Yes, the death cookies were out, especially where Midway feeds into main. Tickets were half price. There was snowmaking going on on Tut, Lazy, and Homestrech, from what I could see, they might be open top-to-bottom for the weekend.

  10. i'd venture a guess that lazy will open saturday with all the extra snowmaking time they have...

Too bad Lazy won't be open for opening day, but I'll be happy just to be out on the snow tomorrow morning. Looks to be a cold one early on with wind chill temps in the single digits, but heck, we ski/ride in everything. Hope to see you all out there.

  11. Main Street, Main Street, Come around (with a few jibs), easy out, vista, explorer at MINIMUM.

However, by saturday we may be skiing top to bottom off the new 6pack with lazy mile, shuttle, tuts land, homestretch, and the falls.

Justo said they're pretty much blowing on everything but Paradise, Razors Edge, Challenge, and Sidewinder, and the lower terrain park and the 1/2 pipe.

Anyone know if there will be reduced ticket rates for Friday if they are not open top to bottom? The warmer temps today aren't helping :(

  12. I saw about 20 contestants when it started at 1:30PM. There were about 3 good crash and burns, but most people didn't have much trouble making it across, the pond should be longer next year. There were some good costumes including the Bikini Chick, Disco Stu, Barney the dinosaur, the Chef, Hula Boy, Naked Cowboy and others. Park Crew was there keeping the pond entry and exit in good shape. Gotta give CB props for trying something new.
