  1. yea ill be up there at frost all day today.  i dont know about the snow being as bad up there though.  jack frost is up on mt pocono, and its usually a couple degrees colder up there and the snow quality is usually a little bit better.  they usually get more snow than everywhere else too

yeah right. this storm was a wet heavy snow all over, even in the elevations. this snow sucks big time.

  2. I'm thinking of driving up to the Poconos to ski this weekend. Which area do you think will have the best conditions. Should I drive all the way to Elk? Also, isn't this Presidents' Day weekend?

I'm thinking i'm glad i work on weekends b/c this is the worst weekend of the year to go skiing anywhere in PA. forget CB for sure on presidents weekend. its nice to have days off in the middle of the week. everyone else is at work or school and i have the whole mtn to myself. :nana

  3. worst day of skiing ever!! went to CB around 11am they had just decided to close the stevenson b/c of winds. condtions were all ice. They must have groomed when it was still warm out then it all froze so their plenty of courdory, not bad if you don't mind that skiing on bumpy ice feeling along with some of those "death cookies" that some of you speak of. and to top it off there was even bare spots showing on certain trails. At least they are making some fresh snow the next few nights!

  4. Hmm, I could have sworn some threads back on the official CB mb that claimed CB owned what used to be big pocono ski area. I know the top of the mountain and to the west of CB (past the housing) is state game land, but didn't know it came around to the east of CB as well.

yeah i thought i saw that too on the other board. its too bad if they don't own it. the state should let them expand on it anyway. they need to do something though to keep us regulars amused. i think the once a year weekend skiers could care less.

  5. so ussually by this time CB annouces their new attraction for the summer? is there going to be one or could they save some money for some ski area expansion? maybe those east side trails that have been planned for years, i know this topic comes up once a year. but i think its long overdue they do something new for the ski area!! Camelbeach already has the most waterslides in PA i think this is the summer to expand the ski area. :confused

  6. 1. Great staff except maybe the higher ups but we won't go there again.

    2. Variety of trails. (it also helps to know all the trails most people overlook)

    3. Conditions - been excellent this year even on trouble spots like pharoh and tut

    4. High speed quads! although i'm spoiled and get impatient when i go elsewhere

    5. parking at sunbowl. step out of your car into the snow.

    6. of course the bra tree

    7. condtions page is almost always up to date.

    8. great snowmaking but not the best

    9.

    10.

tried to think of ten but thats all i got for now.

  7. That is messed up. they could have ran the bailey and marc easily at least earlier in the day at the very least. however i did hear they had winds top out at 80mph at the top of the sully. and i'm sure there were some nice snow drifts up top too.

  8. Ummm I only weigh like 165-170...So I think that alone seperates the 2 of us...And uhh I ski fast :P

Anyway I was just saying a general rule of thumb...The first day a trail opens (after snowmaking) wether it is at CB, blue, BB, JF, Elk, Hunter, Etc it will have a ton of tennis ball sized chunks of snow/ice/crap that are awful to try and get any angles on.

And we need more snow, I agree :rock

went to CB this morning and condtions were unbelievable. The best this season. perfect packed powder. i skied almost every trail twice and the only one that had any ice on it was rocket. even pharoh was in the best shape ever. which suprised me :rock

  9. The snow was like ice in little balls.  The Ski patoral was out in full.  There were onlike 10 trials open I for one want my money Back  for this trip it sucked    :banghead  :banghead  :banghead  :cya  :pissed

what do you expect after a series of ice storms? packed powder conditons? if your going to go the day after an ice storm you have to expect some crappy condtions but only 10 trails? that sucks. :confused

  10. it was 10:15pm? you should have been off the snow on your way to your car by then. CB closses at 10pm. i know when i'm working and its time to closes you want to get out of there and not stick around for a bunch of kids that are screwing around. you can't blame them for trying to get you out of there but you can blame them for the way they handled that situation so stupidly.

  11. Yeah that made me wonder if they hired a 10yr. old to do the captions.  Mabey there just tring to apeal to the idiots who would think that was cool. :no

i thought it was cool and i'm not an idiot. :confused jk

seriously CB needs to step it up with making snow and keeping terrain open all week long. yeah the trails that are open have good coverage but they only have 7trails today and its the middle of january!!

  12. Just thought I would point out that blue has 29 of 30 trails open (only the pipe is closed, and has yet to be open this year), and Camelback has 7 of 33... I'm quite impressed with what blue has been able to do this year with getting and keeping terrain open.

i'm quite impressed myself with blue and very disappointed with CB. i guess they are trying to conserve snow but still by the weekend the anticipate only 23 trails. they'll never be open 100% even shawnee has most of their terrain open.

  13. I think its gonna get real bad at all the mountains around 12, which is when I plan on leaving. I may head back up in the evening to CB, but we shall see. Can't wait till the 3rd when all the vacationers go back to work/school and I have the mountain to myself for a week :)

i agree!! it wil be so nice come jan 3rd. :D

  14. Montage seems to have a little less snowmaking power then other mountains or they are just not as aggressive i know that power outage last week didn't help them but, didn't they have to close last year for a week during a warm spell b/c they didn't have enough snow? (or was that someone esle)

  15. how were the new stix, like them alot?

i love them so much, more than i thought i would, i didn't want to stop skiing but time ran out and my body said no more. can't wait to get out again which by the looks of it will be at least a week before i get a chance

but after the holidays i'll be out at least 3 times a week. :wiggle

  16. i love flying down pharoah right into bactrain. one of my favorite runs. but yeah pharoahs condtions do suck about 90% of the time. i don't think there is much they can do about it because of the way the trail was cut.
