  1. Good to know! thanks for the insight!

We have a house that is a 2-3 min walk to a trail/lift that is not the town lift. So we should be good. We prioritized booking more of a ski in/ski out house since there are 9 of us. Makes it easier logistically and no car rental is needed.

  2. Glad you got to enjoy the snow after the storm. I was out skiing all Saturday and it was great. Pretty damn windy off the Gondola but it was excellent to ski on fresh snow. The snow was really piling up. I was hoping to get stuck in LP so we could ski again on Sunday and enjoy all that fresh snow that would hopefully cover whatever ice patches were still showing.

  3. Great day full of spring skiing. Got to the gondola around 9am and headed up alone. Much better snow coverage from the day before. It ended up closing in on high 30s with full Sun and blue skies. The snow was soft and buttery. Ended the day with a Lake Placid IPA which was delicious. It sounds like a snow storm coming which which will be awesome way to end the trip. Minus my little Acura trying to drive home Sunday with that much snow

  4. I’ll continue this thread with more updates from Wilmington/Lake Placid/Whiteface. March 5 to 13th.

We arrived Saturday 3/5 to mid 50s and rain. It poured most of Saturday night and all Sunday. It cleared out a lot of the ground snow. Today it is quite chilly with a temp of 25 and windy. Although the sun is peeking through the clouds today. I had to work yesterday and today so no skiing reports from me today. Everyone else went out today but are all beginners so I’m excited to hear the recap of their adventures.

    more to come.

Thanks for the report and glad you’re back on the slopes.  Is your husband a skier or snowboarder?

Skier. He skied a few times when he was younger so he was excited to try again. He took a private lesson Thursday and since then we’ve been cruising blues and greens. He wants to go skiing again before we come back to Whiteface in March so maybe we will take a trip to blue one of these weekends.

  6. Ironman Lake Placid just announced they will continue with the race in July but athletes must show proof of vaccination to race. As you can imagine, people's heads exploded. There are a ton of infuriated people. The Facebook group got ugly real fast. A lot of other US Ironman's have been gone off without any real strict rules like LP.

Now I have to decide if I can get Ironman ready in 65 days.. I've been half assing training assuming the race would be canceled again. Time to ramp up mileage and see what happens.

Ironman Mont Tremblant still looks questionable. I don't think the borders will be open to public in August but maybe they will also go the vaccinated athlete rule as well. Then again, a lot of Canadians said they haven't had access to pools/gyms because of their restrictions. Sounds like many wouldn't be able to race strictly due to not being able to fully train.

  7. I still wear my mask most days on my chin when I walk the dog or walking around the city. If I see a group of people walking towards me and they all have masks on I'll pull mine up. I know I don't have too but I feel weird if I don't. It's a habit now. Although I don't wear it riding or running anymore which has been amazing.

With less restrictions, I'm feeling pretty hopefully that my August wedding will feel fairly normal!

  8. Philly convention center has about 4,000 vaccine shots that will expire today or tomorrow and they basically opened it up to anyone and everyone. No appointment needed. Haven't read up on the fine print but it seems they are allowing anyone.

I don't get those who get the first shot and are hesitant to get the second..it makes no sense to me.

Do you like this or did you prefer virtual?

I did my entire master's program online. Although I signed up for the virtual online program specifically because I didn't have the time to drive to a PSU campus each week. So it was different than what people are experiencing now (what you wanted/paid for vs. forced virtual) but I enjoyed doing my program online.

  10. I wear a mask to run outside and my gym obviously requires you wear them while working out. Yes, its annoying but that's the world right now. It's been over a year of mask wearing, how are people STILL complaining as if no one else in the world is dealing with the same inconvenience. There are worst things in life than wearing a mask.

  11. I had my second Pfizer last Friday and has little no to side effects. I did drink that same night and woke up with a headache so it's hard to tell what the headache was from. Perhaps I was fatigued Saturday but again hard to tell if it was from staying out late or from the second shot.

Either way, the headache and fatigue were minimal. Happy to be fully vaccinated.
