  1. PEOPLE......... R E L A X!!!!! first off this is NOT global warming, if you watch the wether channel at ALL which you obviosely havent this is el nino and its not the first time its happened, The same weather conditions have been happening since they started predicitng weather. Its just one of those years that we get screwed and dont get to ride till january, so instead of complaing and blaming it on global warming which it IS NOT. lets just calm down, and hope that since they open late that maybe we can get to ride into late april.

THANK You :bow finally someone with some thought telling everyone the real reason why this weather sucks. Also, Global Warming isnt going to just sneak up on us and be like "BOO" no skiing until January. It probably wont be in our skiing/boarding lifetime in which we will actually suffer from Global WARMING.

  2. yea, i saw the blowing of snow from the cam last night..

but from the looks of the webcam there is nothing new.

ok sounds good, even though it is going to get warmer again for a few days..i looked on the bear website and yes they blew snow:

"Update: We were able to blow snow Tuesday night at the top of the mountain"

  3. check the webcams, they are going all out. tonight and tomorow night should get decent snow made to keep some cover until the next snowmaking window on monday.

they made snow last night? it didnt look like they had any new snow

  4. yeh, this really sucks..i am so pissed i didnt even make it up once. I was going to head up on sunday but an employee told me saturday night that bear was going to be closed on sunday..now i got a season pass without going before christmas

  5. The temperatures got down to 33F last night so the snow was able to firm up a bit and allow us to do a bit more pushing. We have decent coverage on open trails today and all the features are still in great shape thanks to the park crew.

We are going to stay open as long as we possibly can given the forecast. It looks like we do have a possibility of some colder weather on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to patch things up and keep the trails open. Let's hope the forecast holds true!

Well I hope so because I think I am going to head up on sunday.

  6. hahaha skitzo... sorry, I am not always politically correct. Yes COC is primarily a snowboarding summer camp. The trend however is that there are a bigger percentage every year of skiers. I expect that the trend will continue

Papasteeze, the link for Nipples's promo doesnt work

  7. even though i didnt head up today, i just wanted to say that by the pictures, bear did a great job opening in this weather..I am still trying to get up on sunday (if theres still snow) looks like if the weather cooperates, its going to be a sick season. not that it wont be without good weather but i think you get my point.

  8. thanks for the update, i am hoping to head up this weekend. Also, i love the interactive terrain park maps. I have been so anxious for them to open up.. :rock I just looked at the new terrain park page...nice work Ironworks...cant wait for all the features to be up..Looks GREAT

  9. If they groom everything out, then let people ski on it, then groom it out again, the snow surface won't be as hard, and more rain will go into the snow. If they leave it in piles, or groom it, and let it set up for 48 hours, letting the snow get harder, more rain will run off of it, making the snow a lot nicer when they do open, and saving more of it.

It would probably be icey most of the season if they opened then closed for rain then opened again, since its the base layer of snow.

Ok, thanks for the clear up. It really sucks though that the weather is not cooperating. We need some colder temps and snow SOON!!!

  10. awesome, thanks secta....see whoever there saturday, i'll be in all houndstooth plaid haha...i'll also be the guy falling down all day cause i suck lol

yeh im hoping to get up there in saturday too, im probably wearing a red jacket with a red camelback. I really need a new jacket!

Also, I dont really understand why Bear isnt opening on Tuesday, i saw what BC-Mark said although why not get a good day in on Tuesday as supposed to waiting after the rain :confused

  11. I know its great that Bear is opening on Thursday and thanks for the update Mark, but .....I am so dissapointed!! because I was so siked to get to Bear on Tuesday because i didnt have to work and I scheduled around it and now I cant go on Thursday because I have to work and I got basketball practice... :thumbdown:banghead:banghead

  12. You can pick-up passes Saturday from 9am to 3pm. I would strongly encourage you to do so if you live close-by so you can avoid opening week lines.

27F and dropping...should be another good night!

Is it absolutely necessary? and how long would the lines be? just because I live in Blue Bell, about 45 minutes away and my parents would prefer just to drive up once...

  13. WOW! thanks BC-Mark for the info, and that stuff about the hotel being built sounds awesome...It is really great to see that Bear was able to blow through the whole day, I am sure that will be very helpful in the amount of snow blown so far..and is it okay to stop by saturday to get my season pass, or can I just come on tuesday?

  14. Bear is still blowing snow!!! They have gotten in a good 12 hours as of now and it seems like most of the big guns are up and running and looking at the weather, they will probably be able to blow snow for the whole day because the high is going to be around 30 at 3 pm.and the terrain park cams are up again

  15. I hate to be a bad news bear, but the weather next week is looking really poor! i mean there is a few days in a row where there cant be any snowmakinG...How long do think Bear will be able to stay open if there is days without snowmaking and very high temperatures
