Making Turns

Making Turns (3/10)

  1. You cut down all the trees at the top next to Broadway
  2. Mark said they were owned by a company that could afford to lose money on a bad season, and that they'd do their best to not actually have to lose money during the rest of the year.
  3. They arent exactly first tracks. Well for the day. I guess you could call them third first day first tracks or something like that.
  4. A dumptruck would tear the shit out of the mountain. One of those things on top of a muddy slushy hillside is bad news. Im not sure you could even get one up there.
  5. Wheres Mark? How about we give this kid a job, yes? We'll put him in charge of the snowmaking. Apparently he thinks he knows how Bear should be run. Why blow on the other side of the mountain? Becuase they need to, and they can. Every gun was running that they could put on the terrain park, but those guns only take so much water at one time, and unless you want to uproot every gun and put it on one trail so when they do get the cold weather (in three fucking days) they'd have to move them all back again. Duh people...
  6. Why did this happen to everyone in physics? It snowed during mine too. It gave me strength during our mid-term exam.
  7. Theres hardly any snow on Black Bear and Kodiak though. Give it a good couple of days though and maybe, just maybe, they'll open.
  8. They both kick ass. Although I've not been to Blue yet this year.
  9. I remember hearing something about a guy who made a snowgun that could make snow in above freezing temps. Like really really above freezing temps, I think I heard they made snow in July. Apparently it never went into use because it wasted so much water. Im not sure if this is true. Maybe I thought about it and somehow it turned into something I heard in my mind, or something, I dunno. Anyway, as making snow in July isnt really necessary (although it would be pretty cool) if there is any weight to this then could it be adapted to make snow in borderline and adverse temperature conditions? Like mid 30s through mid 40s. This just popped into my head when I was reading all the things Bear is thinking up to improve the mountain. If its even a little feasible then cool. If it was just something conjured out of the depths of my twisted imagination then forget I posted this. It too was then conjured out of the depths of my twisted imagination and so didnt exist in the first place.
  10. about two weeks then killer lets hope the weather holds
  11. Why should it matter if they knock BC? Its not going to make our rails suck all of a sudden. The same thing works the other way around. Plus saying that they're sad because they dont build their own stuff is a little hypocritical because I know some of BCs jibs were purchased from Planet Snow a few years ago. The rest were copied from other mountains. so lets agree to disagree ok?
  12. They'll make what they can this week then start up again next week. I'm gonna set the opening date at the 21st for now.
  13. If you have fun at said mountain who cares if the rail was built by Park Logic or by the Ironworks. The fact of the matter is that alot of mountains (well hills really) in the mid-atlantic have really good terrain parks these days. Reason: demographically snowboarding is huge in this area, especially around the Bear Creek area. Hills in this area cater to snowboarders, and each mountain is going to hype up their own park, just as another mountain might claim best snow or best terrain we claim best jibs and booters. Most of the parks are really good, and if you can have fun then dont worry about it. Bear is always going to be better than Blue to some people for varying reasons. Its not a question of whos better or whether or not Ironworks is better than Park Logic. It just comes down to the opinions of local riders because when you look at it, both mountains are really good (albeit different sized) and alot of the things people have been comparing have been really superficial. Anyway Bear is going to go off (once they have snow) Blue is going to go off and we're all gonna have a good time
