  1. Aside from getting stuck in a tree well at one point it was a great day.

One of my first days in Sqauw 2 years ago, a buddy of mine got stuck in a tree well that was easily 6 ft deep. It took him about half hour to build himself some steps sturdy enough to climb out. Completely nuts. That was also one of my first days out west ever, and that was not something I even thought would be remotely possible to happen.

Glad you made it out ok.

And that pic from the lift is awesome.

  2. Has anybody had any problems with the audio in the Bern Helmets? I had a Watts for about 2 weeks and the right side speaker already does not work? anybody else?

I've had mine since the beginning of last year and no problems as of yet.

  3. Excellent day at JF. Great coverage everywhere. Trees are still where its at. Some gnarly moguls forming in the challenge glades.

My brother hit his first jump! He took a couple runs at the first jump in one park. Hit the deck a couple time, but figured it out in the end. He was all smiles after that.

Lots of people at BB. New pair of his/hers jumps on love, good work.

R2, where you at? Were you there today? We took a couple runs down lehigh looking out for the red pasr coat, but no luck.

  4. Rode boulder from 4:45-8:30. Coverage is great, and the snow was awesome. Firm, but still a nice powdery coat everywhere to carve into.

Freedom is in good shape and has some pretty good flow to it. Two complaints would be the jump and the butter box. The jump is a little sketchy, as in poppy with a skinny steep landing that is pretty easy to overshoot. And then the butter box is just chillin before the lift. Think it could be better utilized.

Love has some legit down rails and fun jumps. Would be nice if there were another set of jumps in there though. The ramp/wallride at the bottom is fun too.

Boulder was ungroomed and had some nice whales forming on it, so nothing was hittable. Guess they're gearing up for a rebuild.

Was very surprised by the excellent snow conditions. I'll be trying to get another day in this week for sure.

  5. I just sold my 09 contrabands and am lookin to get some 2010's. Now they have 3 different kinds (regular, LTD, Nitrane). If youve ridden any of them or just know, what do u think/what differences make it worth getting better contrabands?

Never rode them, but what was wrong with the 09's?

  6. I've never stayed in a Hostel. Wasn't really looking too, but a friend sent me the link because he thought it might be interesting. I'm looking at 4 people going right now, so I guess thats why he thought the hostel might be cheap. The 49er sounds good though, I'll give it a look. Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be heading out there the week of 2/22, stoked!

How about getting from the airport to the town? You guys rent a car, or just take some kind of shuttle?

  7. got to Jack Frost about 10 am, no where near as crowded as i thought it might be.....at least the slopes anyway. seems like more people were hanging out by the lodge than on the slopes, and that didnt bother me. parked over near frosty so i made my way to east mountain pretty much skiing about every other trail. the beginner trails were nicer to ski on since conditions were typical for the day after rain, then freezing temperatures. not alot of people skiing east mountain, so the trails hadnt loosened up too much, still pretty icy. floyds was pretty interesting...lots of people sliding down it after realizing there wasnt too much grip. the elevator and the trees on challenge are gonna need some love by either mother nature or the wonderful folks at JFBB. (hint, hint)

skied my way back over to frosty, spending a little time bombing Janes Lanes since the snow got pretty nice there around noon.

Left JF about 12:30, grabbed a samich, and headed over to BB. the slopes at BB had some more traffic on them so they werent quite as icy. definetly more crowded than frost, big boulder lift line was moving pretty good, so i just made runs on bunny schuss, dragonfire, big boulder and mittlewig. eventually found PC and Serch, made a couple runs together before PA RR joined the usual suspects. we made 1 run together before i had to roll.

i am making some turns at frost monday, if anybodys around.

I was there from around 1030-300. The conditions started out pretty bad, but got real nice right after lunch. I was mostly just lapping the park after lunch, the jumps were a lot of fun today.

I'll be at Frost tomorrow as well. Headed up with a buddy who is still figuring things out, so I might be spending a little more time on the blues.

  8. I was there with my little brother. Challenge was definitely the place to be. The glades are so much fun, excellent work there.

We also took that unfortunate voyage down under the lift on the east side. Our boards were not pleased.

I thought I saw you on the east side from the lift eyeing up the elevator, but was only guessing from seeing your avatar. Guess it was you after all.

  9. Flights booked. I'm going to end up with 6 days in UT, and 3 in CO.

Now I just gotta find some lodging for UT.

I tried planning a trip like this a year or so ago, and got some good recommendations on where to go/stay. I can't find the thread though. Is there a way to access older threads? Or are they gone?

  10. Don't get me started on mileage. I pull 30 miles worth of commute each day, and I haven't been closer than 130 miles from home on a weekend in months so I'm averaging something like 430 miles a week and I haven't even been on the snow yet!

When I was in school I interned @ Hershey park, which was 60+ miles from my school. Luckily gas wasn't quite so jacked up back then, or I wouldn't have made crap.

    Sorry for derailing this thread.

  11. Maybe...I went to Stowe three times last season and that's almost 900 miles roundtrip..plus Killington which is 700 miles roundtrip..plus driving from Denver to Jackson Hole..so I drive plenty of miles..

Dont make me bust out my calculator and last years stats for a miles driven pissing contest
