  1. No I wasnt being completely serious, so don't worry. I never studied resort management or anything but I think I know a bit more than the average layman does on the subject.

I also realize it'd be impossible to build one from scratch because of the level of development and the amount of red tape. If anyone here becomes a multi-millionare then we're definitely gonna talk about buying and re-opening a mountain.

That was only half-sarcastic I think.

Ohhhhhhhhh ok, its totally sarcastic. I just want a place to pile up snow and stay open into June, but don't we all...

  2. What steps have you been hitting..I love skiing down steps..I wonder how crispy the ones in fron of the Phully Art museum would be..lol

The ones off my front porch because they're the only ones around. They're wooden and narrow and my girlfriend had to take out a nice splinter the other day (thank god she wants to be a doctor).

I got my hands on these white coated boards used for papermaking. Hopefully they'll prove slippery enough to slide around on and once I get new plexi on my box I'll have a nice little jib setup for the summer.

  3. Hahn Mountain not Hawn Mountain, ok. My bad, I didnt remember the spelling, just the pronunciation. Also cleared up some of the details about the mountain I didnt get right. I had no idea they had a double lift which is strange... oh well.

    rumor rumor rumor

I had heard somewhere that somebody had bought the abandoned Blue Marsh Ski Area and where going to turn it into an all mountain terrain park. That nagging voice in the back of my head says its all lies though...

  4. There's a lost ski area in north Berks County called Hawn Mountain. It's on the eastern end of the mountain that adjoins the Pinnacle to the southeast. Think it closed in the 70s. You can still see the runs clearly on the mountainside. I think they had a couple of rope tows and a t-bar and maybe 300ft of vert.

  5. A few little patches at the top of sasquatch and kodiak but thats probably gone by now. I saw the pond last week too, its huge. It's all part of their new snow-making project to be able to open the mountain in about 2/3 of the time with a wet bulb of 28.

  6. People would really come from all over PA to ride a little patch of plastic?

It would be fun if they did it but it'd be a better idea to get a bunch of people together and order or build something yourselves.

  7. ummmm....

All this looks like are those plastic bristle things they've been using for, well, several decades now. Although the quality looks a little better I'd still be afraid of some serious rug-burn type deals if I fell on that. Not to say I wouldnt use it because I'll take what I can get in the off-season.

Anyway. Yes I would think you can groom over this stuff, or just take it down before they make snow, which is probably the most logical choice I can think of.
