I bet the powers that be told him to stop talking.

I agree with that. They have no BS to feed us so they put a gag on everyone.

  2. I think it will be kind of sad if the same partners get the mountain back somehow unless they pay off all their debt. Maybe thats what KC meant in an earlier thread that bankruptcy is actually a good thing. If they have as much money as they bid why can't they pay their bills. Sounds kind of fishey to me. Just venting since many people that they did business with will likely get screwed out of money and then they bid under a new name. Just seems wrong to me.

  3. I thought you said Sno could get 100% open with 24 hours of snowmaking? Lulz.

Typical Sno Mountain stretching the truth. You would think most of the mountain would be open instead of what they are calling 8 slopes. Needing more time to get connection, Nordic, Baby Moose, the two bunny hils cannonball, bomer and whistler is a joke with how they have bragged about their snowmaking ability. If you think about it the real reason is they probably didn't want to chance opening the day of a storm with the unknown of people being able to get there. In reality that was probably a smart decision with the financial issues. But don't make up BS just to make it sound good. In KC's defense he is only relaying what he is told. I know how the main people only tell the management team certain things.

  4. Let me try to put this in simple terms and concepts for you. Let's say there is $100,000 in a bank account. A business cuts checks to pay it's employees totalling $110,000. All the employees who cash their checks first, up to $100,000, will experience no issues. The poor saps who waited a little too long will be S.O.L. If you cash your check ASAP every time, then you will never notice a problem.......that doesn't mean that nobody else was left high and dry.

As someone pointed out.....it doesn't matter where you cash your check. If you go to Wal-Mart with no ID, then they send you on your way. The check can't bounce because it was never processed.

Side note: This is just another great reason to have direct deposit people!

Just because the sale doesn't happen in July and somehow the owners of Sno manage to work out a short term deal for now that doesn't mean they will learn how to run a successful business or manage their finances. Long-term smoke = FIRE!

Sno suspended direct deposit when this was happening. I got it to prevent this and all of a sudden it stopped. My supervisor told me they don't offer it anymore. I don't know if they brought it back or not. I would assume that this was a cause and effect type of deal but not positive.

  5. You never know about the investor. They had one step in a few years ago when the concession company from the stadium (CPI) stepped in and bought into Sno. That was around when they were bouncing many of the payroll checks. I think it will be much tougher to get one this time though with the word out that they are having the troubles that they are. I hope something good happens. Would hate to see the mountain just sit there. Not only from the skiing and boarding side of things, but the seasonal jobs they provide. They might not pay the best but it is nice seasonal part time work for many.

  6. sno mountain skier, I looked more into it, and yea it's closer, to a road than I thought, but the top to bottom vert is shitty compared to the side there using and the terrain isn't as diverse.

skier17, regardless, so your upset because the company didn't staff enough people to make sure every lift was fully staffed every operational hour of the week? when they could make a smart business decision and try to save money.. Yes, dirt bag employees are a staffing issue, but huge? did the place go under? did some tragedy occur because of a lack of employees? are any of my or anyone else's complaints due to a lack of liftys? My mind's on something else and I'm not prepared to defend any negative little point of my response, boo fucking hoo, long haul blows anyway, the only thing it's good for is being able to pound down a couple of beers on the way up. get off on northface lift, take a little trip down the hill and get on iron horse, it's not that big of a deal.

I never said I am upset. All I said is a possible reason that the lift is closed is not enough staff. I also said it is expensive to run. So I agree it shoulkd be closed when the mountain is not busy.

  7. So Santa people not showing up for work is not a staffing issue. Wake up thats a huge staffing issue. Trust me I know what I am talking about. As far as montage I was just saying that before the place was ran into the ground they had people there like it or not.

When I say the place was ran into the ground I do mean by Lackawanna county and not by Sno when they took it over.

  8. Given that the water barrels used to weight test lifts are still on the chairs I think it is safe to say that it has not been inspected. I don't think it is a staffing issues, but rather they need the state to pass the lift.

I hope they are waiting on some small parts or something and not something $$$$$$$. I'd love to see the lift open soon, but wont hold my breath.

If the barrels are still on the lift then they have a problem of some sort. I do know for a fact that in years past they have always had staffing issues with all lifts. Espically later in the season and long haul was always the last concern.

  9. That lift does not run due to the expense of running it and getting the extra people to staff it. Look at the past history of that lift all the way to the montage days. You can say its not running for saftey but they are feeding you a bunch of BS if thats what they are telling you. Thats why in the past they would on;y run it on holiday weekends. Now it is not even close to busy enough to run it. Before the county ran Montage into the ground the place used to be packed with long lift lines to back it up.

  10. Haven't heard or seen anything yet. Hopefully some of the Sno regulars have a little inside info on their season pass brochures? I am sure they are out by now? The financial state of Sno Mountain has been in question here since the waterpark fiasco a couple years ago... Nobody really knows how they are doing...

  11. Place looks nice but for the price I will travel the extra half hour and go to a better water park such as Camelbeach. Place has potential but for now not much to offer at premium prices. They have racer slides, lazy river, wave pool, tornado and old crappy slide. Not sure if the bumper boats are included or cost extra. However don't really want to take the ride to the bottom of North Face to go on bumper boats.
