  1. i thought jester hats are worn by cocky advanced skiers, kinda like a guy i saw in a mini skirt kilt bare legged sking all pro. no helmet but i'm getting one. i don't feel uncool wearing one at a ski place kuz so many others wear em. For a little more money, plus i can break even or possibly profit when i want different ones, I'll just use ebay or craiglsist instead of renting. for me, skis are better for balance and carving and controll. Blades are harder to cross, easier to jump/grind, and less awkward. i'll get used skis and blades and see for myself which is best for me.
  2. yeah i was joking. i just go around forums asking about them and hope for someone to call me a racial slur that i could potentially sue over and make some moolah, but i forgot to make my user name something like jewishSkiboarder or italianStalionSkiboarder to entice the racism! NAH, just kiding. i seriously asked about the skiblades. I feel they easier to do jumps on opposed to bending a big ski feels like binding wants to pop out! who knows maybe it's just the suk ass skis i been using cause they're free they are the ooold kind that don't widen at the tips at all and are like 2 inches wide in total. they suck and i almost crossed them on black diamonds a few times.
  3. aparently no 1st come 1st serve in the big/rotten apple. I think my new career that i'll have more $ then i'd know what to do with is to record myself driving around manhattan not breaking any laws, and settle all the accidents without going through insurance at a 25% discount... I'll just install expensive blinged-out side mirrors and when the cabbies and other shit heads break them off, I collect. while doing nothing wrong, i still have to swerve to avoid accidents once every 15 minutes or so, and this is just during the middle of the night when much less traffic and not while in the right/cab lane. third vid's not NYC, just had to post it.gotta get that bumper pad thing if you care about yer car! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w2S5jyyyyI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5erQVojgZI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bx3RO7FaRA
  4. yeah those fights aren't about ski vs snowboard. although, the second one with the narrator starts off saying that's the reason, who knows what happened... and the father in the 1st one sarcastically calles the kid/guy a ' cool snowboarder dude' or something, but ANYWAY, im not really sure what yer getting at askin about a skiblade report or getting hated on for snowblades, but if yer wondering, i ski'd sugarbush vt once and about 19 other times in PA at either shawnee, camelback, bluemountain, and some tiny 3 trail place Craigmeur nj that closed. never once in those 20 trips can i recall any of the trash talking that goes on at mountain creek. it was all mostly strangers joking around and making fun of eachoter but some people take it too far... I mean, i'm no saint eaither, i think the waitress heard me ask her for a lapdance lol.
  5. delete the thread if needed. i wasn't trying to encourage the negativity that happens sometimes at resorts or how some skiers and snowboarders don't see eye to eye, i would have tried to break up these fight if i were there. i mean, i know these arent such a rare find, you can find youtube fights from anywhere from ghettos to churches. i just felt like venting 'cause im new to the whole fighting/verbal stuff that goes on at these family resorts. the recent flaming i got for asking about snowlerblades ,which i looked at as advice and didn't take to heart/personally Recently went to mountain creek NJ for the first time, and for the first time in 20+ ski trips had 3 different strangers at different time who felt like talking trash about my clothes or skibladeds lol, which i ignored.plus the 50 other incidents of people i heard talking trash for no good reason mostly about clothes!, not like a good reason like "you @#$%&*##$!!! you caused me to fall!"
  6. can't we all just get along-rodney king curses. not safe for work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjuRY4ftCoE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQfCMYKTpJg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFQeU-COtYE&feature=related
  7. oh, didnt realize their's a skiboard forum. thanks for linking me there, but why can't I find the thread on those sites? you copy pasted the questions, right?
  8. is it generally okay with manegement if i bring one of the wing jackets and hit a jump and spread my arms and fly for some time? what about a small air horn for when you need to tell someone to get out of the way real quick? okay i'm joking
  9. to clarify this debate and for anyone who might actually want some foward input on this topic, i unexpectidly (noobie)found this has been discussed before numerous times. -blades are harder to balance on and are sometimes used to train skiiers to make balancing on skis simpler.(i somehow didn't notice this even on 88cm) -they 'chatter' when going fast unless ridden 'on edge', especially on powder with narrow blades (which i didn't notice because didn't go fast and rode wide boards in a NJ resort that was like packed ice) -they are looked down/made fun of on by skiers and thought of as an easier/wimpy alternative, kinda like wearing/not wearing a helmet despite the shaking 'chatter' and harder-to-balance factor. -breakaway bindings are highly suggested -they make you go slower -they are harder to cross eachother -they make jumping, landing, and landing grinds easier in that you don't have to bend so much ski legnth and you can land easier in ruts. but, the larger surface area of skiis might be easier only for a clean, flat landing. -not sure but i think turning on full skis is easier cause more surface area, but i didn't notice a difference.please correct me if i'm wrong about any of this. here are my sources: http://www.ehow.com/about_6404788_ski-blades-vs_-skis.html http://www.epicski.com/forum/thread/9322/snow-blades http://www.livestrong.com/article/117043-ski-blades-vs.-skis/
  10. but, there was no advice given from others. turn this into a skiblades vs. skis and list why skis are better. i think blades are better/safer cause: -they are harder to cross, -make me go slower, but i can go faster than i want to if i go straight down -they make jumping/grinding and landing easier for me cause they don't need to bend as much.
  11. I know i'm way in the minority with skiblades... i'm glad just being able to finally do some jumps and rails that i couldn't on skis. It's probably true that the larger skis' surface areas give better controll and make carving/slowing down easier. I prefer the smaller blades cause they are way harder to cross, don't bend on jumps/landings, and don't have to worry about rutty jump/rail landing as much.
  12. bingo! , justion. thanks for an actual answer! i'll get breakaways. so you want to take a 4 hours bus ride to a mountain instead of driving and then ride on snowblades? is this for real? i said 4 hours total, 2 each way, and YUP i'd rather take a relaxing bus/train for about the same cost as driving without putting miles on my car and being more 'green'. It amazes me that snowblades even exist anymore. They're good for exactly zero things. Grow a pair and get real skis. You'll thank yourself a year from now when you learn how to actually carve a turn. ii can carve a turn on long skis and have gone down non-hardcore black diamonds. all i'm doing the whole time is fighting the mountain and stopping myself from going too fast and avoiding the idiots near me. i'm not a speed junkie and prefer jumps and rails. i was hitting jumps and rails I'd never imagine to with long skis on my first day with 88cm so it's a win win for me. i understand what yer saying from a speed junkies perspective, but yeah i don't care about speed.
  13. I just asked for links not what you prefer. thanks for the 2 links i got. cheked 1 of those already and found 88cm the smalest there. i'm looking for the magic minimum cm number(s) so i can search ebay/craiglsist for used. i dont care bout image cause im getting a snowbaord too and snowbaorders are the coolest, right!?
  14. i plan on using 88cm or preferably the smallest possible skiblades/boards if i can find them. the only disadvantage i could think of for breakaways is if they unexpectidly break off when hitting a rut, landing a jump, grinding etc. when using such short skis, does it even make it more likely for a worse injury if the bindings are locked in? am i sort of 50/50 that breakaways could come off unexpectidly and locked in bindings can injur easier? don't persuade me to try bigger skis. i used regular skis probably 20X and last time i borrowed 88cm skiboards and love the better controll. the only thing i miss out with small skis is speed, but all i have to do is not carve, and i'll soon go faster than i'd ever want to. thanks
  15. i googled and found little without spending hours and hours. i want the smallest skis/shiblades/skiboards/whatever possible for about a size 11 mens boot. i'm 5'8" 155ish, so no links to kid's stuff/almost novelty toys like i was finding. don't persuade me to get bigger skis, cause i used them about 20X, and last time borrowed 88cm skiboards and it was a world of difference how much more controll i had. i could grind and hit jumps and not have a giant ski in the way that needs to bend most of the time and makes things so much harder. all i lose out on is speed, but if i just don't carve, i'll soon go way faster than i'll ever want to. thank you
  16. PA public trans outside of philly aparently sucks and greyhound bus is like the main option. It's takes 4X longer than driving because of all the stops and loops around off course.
  17. public transportaion in NJ aint bad in terms of destinations, but it's gotten so expencive that in general, people would rather drive I've heard. They have so many bus destinations from port authorty like BJs wholesale and Bradlees (like walmart) and malls. these days, people can just shop online. I'd guess that half the people going to the resorts i listed are coming from nyc area and other populated places in jersey so it's a supprise busses haven't caught on to the profit they could make even if they just did full day weekend trips. lol, I should petition to get the mountain creek bus to return at the end of the night instead of getting there at 9:12 a.m and leaving at 4:30. yeah, i'll gladly take a train/bus/amtrak anywhere if i could that's over an hour drive, safer, greener, easier, no miles on car, and usually= the same cost as gas, so it's a win win situation. it's just the taxi cost that makes it not worth it unless there's others chipping in. take care
  18. I also checked all the destinations in PA From Manhattan's GWBuss terminl, portauthority bus, and journal square path bus in jersey city ,and none are a ski resort.
  19. In case any1 else was wonderin bout the same thing: I called all the places on my original post list and they said there are no busses that go there(except mountain creek). The customer service people I talked to were mostly life-time locals and convincing that they didn't just tell me NO cause they weren't positive or didn't want to spend time on the phone. Next, I called NJtransit bus and the person was kowelagble and convincing and did tell me that mountain creek from portauthority manhattan/wayne transit center was the only bus they had. Also said no NJtransit busses go out of NJ and to check out Trans-Bridge, a charter bus but that only goes to nyc/area from places in PA that are not close to any skiing. So, I gotta do 4 hours of driving to go skiing or the mnt. creek on crowded weekends during peak hours bus for only half a day or the other trains listed but those are way to far for just a day trip. the last thing i gotta check is possible busses from NYC. If i don't post the reuslts from that within 5 days from today, then I didn't find anything from there.
  20. there's also this that goes from grand central in NYC to Thunder ridge in Patterson, NY ($25 each way and 100 mins and free 1mile shuttle to ski resort[you can call and they pick you up anytime usually]) for me it'd be like $80 bucks and have to NJtranist to pennStation in NYC then subway to Grandcentral then take metro north train to patterson NY, not worth it.
  21. in case others wondering about this: someone on another forum linked this for mountain creek:http://www.mountaincreek.com/mountain/getting-here/nj-transit-bus-line/ its weekends and holidays only. its a bus that leaves from Wayne NJ transit center that goes to creek for $4. the bus starts of in NYC somewhere and is $12 from there. the bus gets at creek around opening and leaves around 4:30. I'd have to take a train fron mew brunswick to hoboken then get on a different train to WAyne Transit Center to get the bus-it's only $18 each way total bus and trains but I'd like to stay later than 4:30.
  22. AH, forgot to mention more clearly that the bus place must be on the way to the resort from around middlesex county nj in order for it all to make sence. I gotta edit original post.
