  1. Camelback has gone a long way to make this customer much happier. :wiggle I can now ski on Saturday and feel good about my season pass purchase! Thank you Ashleigh this goes a long way!

    "Dear David,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your concerns regarding the different types of season passes and how they are able to be used prior to the start of night skiing. I understand your concerns, and I am happy to let you know that all season passes will be honored on Saturday December 8, 2007, regardless of the normal restrictions. We are opening for night skiing on Friday December 14, 2007. Beginning that day, Nights Only passes may only be used from 4-10pm, and regular restrictions will apply for Sun-Fri & Nights passes. I hope that this relieves your disappointment with our early season pass policy for passholders and that you have a great time on the mountain tomorrow on Opening Day!

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 570.629.1661. Thanks again and have a great season!

This is fantastic - See you at camelback on Saturday!

  3. Because Camelback doesn't want to piss off the night passholders by not allowing them to ski for 1-2 weeks. You can still ski on Sunday morning...so the night passholders get to ski maybe two Saturdays that you don't get...but you weren't expecting to ski those Saturdays so it's really no loss to you. Next season just buy an unlimited pass if you really want to ski on Saturdays. Camelback does not have to be fair....they really don't care about their passholders..it's been the recurring theme for years...nobody is forcing you to ski there.

All good points - i'll shut up

  4. I'm answering this from Camelbacks point of view..I'm sure they don't really care though..

If the Saturday night to Friday night passholders were allowed to ski on Saturday days..the unlimited passholders would also be pissed..you shouldn't expect to be able to ski/ride on Saturday days if that's precisely what the pass excludes. Camelback made a concession to nights only passholders because they aren't going to have night skiing for a few weeks. If they didn't offer Sunday skiing then I could see why you should be entitled to Saturday day skiing. Quit complaining and accept the terms of your pass. Life isn't always fair..

You are missing the point - i am not pissed because someone else gets to ski; i am pissed because I dont get to ski. If the unlimited pass holders are going to be mad that i get to ski then why would they not be mad if Night pass holders get to ski?

If i have to accept the terms of my pass then why do Nite skiiers not have to accept their terms?

  5. I wanted to take the time out to express my sincere disappointment with your early season policy for season pass holders. You have offered 3 types of passes in three tiers and each are priced differently based on the days available to the pass holders. The first type of pass is the unlimited pass

  6. Can your ride on a regular Saturday night if night riding was available? If not then this is fine, if you can ride Saturday night with a Sun-Fri + nights pass then you're right, this is a little weird.Shawnee's new marketing slogan should be "SHAWNEE: half the mountain, half the price!"

to answer your question yes Friday night is available to me with a Sunday - Friday pass. no matter what this is not fine. I am sick of defending this mountain. I put up with this crap and defend them on this board and elseware and the pay off this. I paid more and i get to ski less. Night skiers get to ski 7 days a week i get 6 this sucks!

  7. Great way to start the year off on the "right" foot. Those of us who paid the extra money for a Sunday - Friday pass dont get to ski this Saturday :confused but those that paid only for night skiing do get to ski 7 Days a week open to close :screwy . Great way to start the year off with a pissed off customer!

  8. hold on - yeah it is great they have snow but full price for two runs? it is much easier to cover when there are fewer surfaces to cover. in additions they do not have to cover any connecting trails in order to open which means you are far less spread out. "more firepower per acre" can be achieved two ways more firepower or less acres. In this case both are true.

I think because the other mountains don't have the same climate conditions they don't bother with the investment. i am not sure that more firepower would help - location, location, location. that is why it is not closer because closer = less snow. BBJF is smart for making the investment in the "firepower" (i prefer the term snow-power) because their locations gives them the best chance to make the most of it. however their locations also limits the available terrain.

Ahhh always a trade off in life!

  9. I took the day off from work so that i could spend it skiing. It was fantastic! The snow got mushy as the day went on but having the sunshine on my face and the snow under my skis was great. to me this is the best way to celebrate getting older.

  10. 8 to 10 is very quiet.

Before 11 it's fine, after that it depends on the weekend and conditions. If it's a sunny (or even dry) weekend this time of year then it gets pretty bad between 11 and 3 then it dies off a bit.

correct! I like to get up there early on Sunday and leave before the the crowd gets out of control. You can get a lot of sking in if you do it right.

  11. I can't disagree more with Chippy. I was there there this morning and i felt the snow was in great shape. Note however that i did stay on the Nile side of the mountain so i can not comment on the front four. It is true that it is always disappointing when the raceway is closed because it is such a fun trail. Cliffhanger was in fantastic shape. I must say that when Cliffhanger is in good shape it is my favorite trail in the Poconos.

    • I like the bartenders and the music. good place to relax after a bit of unwinding on the slopes
    • I like the snow - i think generally speaking the quality of the snow is well kept - i do wish they would groom a little at the end of the day before the night crowd
    • I love cliffhanger it is a great trail
    • I like the speed of the lifts - but hate the crowds
    • I like the hidden lifts that you can get on when the crowds get to be too much to handle
    • I like to ride the quads in the morning until the crowd starts to build then the hidden lifts until the crowd on the slopes gets to me then it is time to go - but by then i have gotten in as many runs as most peoples whole day
    • I like the raceway it is a great run to open up on
    • I like that it is close
    • I like to park close but if i can't - oh well - i only walk to and from the car when i get there and when i leave thats not enough for me to get excited over
    • i love the varied terrain

  12. Once I am up at CB skiing I don't like to stop just to eat. However once I get in the car and start to head home (80 - 33- 78) i find myself very hungry. Where would be the best place to stop to grab a bite to eat. in addition just in case I have the kids with me is there some place without Live music and limited smoking?

  13. hahahahaa - yeah it has been explained that all the parking spots closest to the lodge are for who ever gets to them first which is about 90% employees :wiggle

Hey I just clicked that Promo - that is awesome! You must be very proud!

  14. It's going to be foggy with no crowds, if it is your first day out then I am sure it is "worth it"

Well i would say it was worth it as I have been waiting since March to get back out on the snow. There were no crowds I think the cars in the parking lot was the staff more than the guests.

However from a more critical point of view (keeping in mind that most of what I have to say has more to do with Mother Nature then with CB) the snow was mushy. coverage was good but terrain was very limited. basically tut or birches from the top which leaves Meadows or Laural at the bottom. it was very warm.

given the results of waiting the extra week (i know the gamble did not work out the way the staff had hoped) i would say CB made a mistake by not opening last week. The snow was not good enough to say that the "refrigeration" factor had a major impact. the coverage on the open trails was adequate but not overwhelming. and the amount terrain that was opened was limited. all of these things would have been in place had they opened last week. But hey that is the past and now we have the rest of the season to look forward to - if it ever gets cold enough to make more snow.
