  1. Conditions at Camelback were a major improvement compared to last week. Hats off to the hard working snowmakers that really turned the trails around in a short time.

Asp was amazing with great bumps you could really play around and have fun with. The bump run really ads that extra level to Camelback compared to years past.

CB snowmaking keep up the good work.

Hope for a big dump this weekend with the NorEaster.

  2. so after about 5 mins they were able to lift Kevin Breen high enough to unclip his step in binding and release his board.. after that he just hung there for another 15 mins.. soon enough the park crew was there, guys on snowmobiles, lifties and a whole group of just your everyday park rats.. they finally got a rope thing around the cable and pulled one of the park crew guys up to the lift so he could un hook the kid and bring him down.. he was alright just really sore and his shoulder hurt like hell he said..

Are you shure ski patrol was not there doing the rescue? No one else is trained to use the lift evacuation equipment.

  3. It should be getting better by tomorrow, I'll have a second hand report later in the evening, but hopefuly someone will have a good report on tonight's conditions.

Conditions were almost the same as yesterday so I won't start a new conditions report for 02/07/2006

According to the CB website the east side of mountain will be closed again tomorrow. (Wed) They must be blowing the stuff pretty deep over there. Should be really nice later in the week when it finally opens.

  4. The east side of mountain was closed for snowmaking on all those trails. The west side Asp and Hump were closed.

From the condo it looks like they turned on a lot more guns tonight.

Conditions were better than expected since all the bad weather last week and over the weekend. Loose granular with hard stuff under it. Everything should keep getting better as long as it stays cold and they can keep those snow guns going 24 hrs a day.

  5. Oh yeah, I just remembered. I noticed a lot of garbage under the lifts at Mountain Creek. In particular there must have been a promotion of some type where a lot of stuff got tossed onto the trees by the lift. It really looks like crap and can't be good for the environment. Some corporate marketing department's bright idea I guess.

  6. Everything was "rideable" was no walking except getting off the gondola. Bare spots and thin cover, some trails full cover it was a real mixed bag.

The gondola you have to take everything off every time then u have to walk over to where you would ski, it was just very muddy at the top. That was the only walking part, and it was a longer walk than usual.

  7. Took a ride up to Mountain Creek today 02/03/2006. In a nutshell, conditions are really getting thin and they need some cold weather to make some snow to build the base back up.

Stopped at South Peak first and it was supposed to open at 4 p.m. but that never happened. Conditions at South looked real thin too. Vernon was thin but once you worked your way around the obstacles you were fine.

Some trails were bad enough that I broke out the camera phone and snapped a few photos and posed in the galleries.

We can really use come cold weather.
