  1. i completely agree. i dont see how somebody who didnt participate in the event can criticize it. i dont know of any people that participated in the event that didnt enjoy it the way it was, and if somebody didnt enjoy it, there is something wrong with them because it is by far the best thing Blue has put out there since i have been skiing there.

I see all of your points. But if you would have read my first comment (Post #2)I was trying to insinuate that I would have done it had the transition been designed better. I try to do things with a little common sense. I saw the obstacle and realized that if I didn't have enough speed with the lack of a straight line approaching the pond, I would have eaten it at the transition. It's that simple. I'm not stupid and I know my ability. I also have no bruises or broken bones because of it. I also don't have mommy and daddy to wheel me around while I heal and miss school. It's called common sense and responsibility. Some of you will figure it out someday.

I'm sorry that no one was able to put 2 and 2 together and figure out that all they had to do was fill up the pond more or leave the hose running while the event was happening.

Like I said, I call it like I see it. If I don't appeal to your positive outlook on life and Blue Mountain then don't read my posts.

I thought that this forum was about telling the truth and not getting the "Yep we are 100% open with a 90 inch base on every trail" crap that you get when you call.

Maybe I was a little confused.

Otherwise... Blue Mountain, this season, did have the best conditions overall for the longest period of time especially considering the weather this year. I would still recommend Blue Mountain to anyone who wanted good value for their money in this area.

...Regardless of what their employees think or say about my posts.

and next year make the pond longer and the approach more straight without the wall at the end and I'm definitely in. Also, where else can you see boobies in bikini's in the middle of winter :yes

  2. Nice post boblikescats... (heavy sarcasm) :confused

Constructive criticism is appreciated from people who actually tried to make it across from this point on.

I had a great time today, and yes I was on the clock so that made it that much better, I think I was anyway...

The only complaint I did hear is that some people were going multiple times before other people got to go once, which sounds like is what happened to Tretiak. From what I heard from people who participated, the top was kinda like a line for a jump in the park, you kind of just went whenever it was clear. So it was all up to the participants how many runs they took.

Huge thanks to everyone who participated, and big thanks to all of you who came out to watch. Hopefully this is a yearly event, we were already talkin about bigger ideas for next year.

I apologize for telling like it is.

If you need to hear the same thing in a different way they be sure to read post #25.

Sorry if I offended you of any of your co-workers but you do have signs all over the mountain that say "We want to hear what you think" (although for a different Reason)

Now get back to cleaning up the trash under the lifts. :lol (heavy sarcasm)

You weren't the MC were you?

  3. you can tell it was their first time.

It was a good idea but I would have thought they would have used a little more common sense.

You had to come down and basically turn before you could cross if you didn't want to jump. It would have been better if there was a straight shot and the pond was longer. I guess vista wasn't wide enough to accomodate this...:lol

Next year I wonder if they are going to end the pond with a brick wall about a foot tall. That'll really make things interesting.

They could have filled it up more to make that transition a little less "dead stop like"

They also could have done without the jump. THAT IS WHY THEY CALL IT "POND SKIMMING" not JUMPING

    I know I know....Your wondering, Did I do it?

Hell no! I would have ended up like the guy who looked like he was bleeding and got lots of love from the red jackets. I could see the ice wall at the end being a big problem. That's why I steered clear.

Oh by the way, the MC caling the shots was an idiot.

Next year, I vote for Doug on the MIC.

  4. Since we are off topic once again....

    Doug,

The little pane to the left says Home Mountain NOT HOME MOUNTAIN(S)

You don't have to rub it in... :lol:angry:

Edit: Your avatar is the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.....EVER!!!!!

    Damn I'm gettin' old.

  5. Yeah...That lift closing shit was un-called for. You would think they would invest in a PA system...I read this happens often...

"Hey Patrons of our mountain, we just decided to close the quad on the left side of the mountain....last chance or you're walking...."

I guess this is what you get when you go to a mountain that really doesn't give a shit about the money you spend there.

Even better We took a day off of work to go there and paid to ski the day with limited crowds, as in Friday as opposed to Saturday.

I can say that the conditions were good and it seemed to be more windy in the morning than when they closed but I didn't have my anemometer with me so I guess I could be wrong.

Needless to say they handled the situation pretty poorly and I have mow made the observation that it is not worth going past Blue unless you're going to Gore, Killington, Stowe, etc....

Thank you Camelcrap for educating me on the best way to spend my money on skiing...lesson learned.

It's a shame, maybe it was the "new" factor, but it was actually a fun mountain to ski, until thay crammed all of the people on to one quad that is.

    :angry::angry::angry::thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:upyers

  6. I would think the Mr. Millers' of the world would focus more on the idiots that can't tell where they should be skiing.

How about ticketing some group of foriegners that are in the middle a trail (Chute) that they should not be on.

That would never happen. They only ticket those of us who can ski fast and in control on any of terrain that Blew Mtn can provide.

That's a great business model, penalize the good skiiers who champion your mountain above all others and sell busloads of tickets to those who cause the congestion and problems on the mountain and in the lift lines.

I never will get it I guess...

    Doug,

The Blah blah blah had to be perfect. I wish I was there to see the expression on his face!

  7. Let's face it. From what I've seen the mountains don't really give a crap. The only way to keep idiots out of the way would be to have the path to the jump (or Whatever) blocked off with rope or a fence of sorts. I don't spend much time in the parks (a waste my 1080's) but the few times I have hit a jump I always seem to be cut off anyway.

I think if enough people would just stiff-arm the ones who get in the way, eventually they would get the point.

All in all I blame the mountains. It's all about making as much money, as fast as possible. (can't blame them for that)

They throw together a park to get the increased revenue and then safety comes later after people have been hurt.

If this were a job OSHA would have their asses. They sould limit the amount of risk as much as possible before they open a new park or trail. That way you are in control you and there is no need to worry about others.

But, like me peoble are still gonna fall and get hurt. That the parks can not fix.

  8. OK guys I have another one for you. Who here has skied Plattekill or Belleayre and what did you think? My company has free tickets to both and Bob & I have a Friday off in February. I was going to do a poll to see which you liked but I thought it was asking for punishment. I can just hear it now.. "who did Sexkitten's poll?". No thanks, I don't need anymore "she's a guy" discussions. Thanks in advance.

    She's a guy...she's a guy...
