I arrived in the CB parking lot at approx. 4:00 and headed to the customer service office to receive my free lift ticket for showing up with a season pass to another resort. when i walked in the customer service door their was a line of about 5 people who were mostly purchasing season passes for next season. Unfortunately all of the staff were standing around one computer trying to figure why it would not work. after about 10 min. of standing around and filling out some general information about myself i received my complimentary lift ticket. once i got to the snow their were a fair number of people standing around, but no real lift line. my first run was down king tut then i took a run down marjies delight the snow on these trails was descent with a soft layer of loose snow on top of a harder but very carvable base layer. while i was unstrapping from my second run a snowboard instructor doing one footed ollies ran into my snowboard, and when i asked him why he hit me he, he decided he needed to get his students on the lift for another run. my third run was down the rocket which was extremely scraped off. next i took Julius cheeser to the east side of the mountain for some runs down cliff hanger and Nile mile, both of which were in excellent condition and not particularly crowded. while riding the Stevenson express i recognized one of the lifties form prior years and pranked her just like years past. also while riding this lift i was able to the 21 and over nastar race down race way and all of the middle aged men wearing racing suits and making washed out turns. At around 6:30 i noticed the lift lines beginning to build up so i headed to the west side of the mountain for one quick run down The Hump. all in all it was well worth the free lift ticket, and the drive. on the way home i decided to stop at the loft to see what snowboards they had in stock. after looking at the snowboards i found a K2 Zeppelin with a large scratch in the base and asked that sales associate why it was not being sold at a greatly reduced price. He tried to convince me that after one night at CB that the scratch would be unnoticeable, but i pointed out to him i have been riding on a snowboard for 4 seasons that has smaller scratches, to which he had no response and i left.

The 5th was great. First time I've ever been to CB during the week (boy, I could get used to that). I just bought a new pair of skis and was testing them out before heading out this weekend and dealing with the crowds.

I got there around 11am and left just before 3pm. I actually had to force myself to stop for lunch. It was just me. Half the family has the flu.

5TH wasn't too bad either. Warm sun and soft snow. All in all, a great day. If it stays like this, may have to extend to the very end.

Hey Jim, leave that liftie alone. :D

my name is not jim...
