The update is I can keep the lense but cut the strap. Oh well, it is what it is.

So I think during travel I had a piece of my Smith IO goggle cracked. I opened the claim. They want to see proof of purchase, picture of the damage, etc.... I get an email reply approving it, but before they give me a voucher, they want pictures of the "destroyed" product. Cut the strap, scratch an X into the lense.
Seems like a darn good waste of a fine lense. Anybody else go through this?

I was out here about same time last year and it dumped all week. I stayed in Midvale. LCC road had a lot of avy closures that week and I was only about to get here one day. Solitude and Brighton the other days.
So this go around I stayed near slopeside.

Friday last day
Another ☀️☀️☀️day. Snow shower came through just after close.
Nice day. Started with some Mineral laps as that gets the sun first. Then sone plays over in Little Cloud area. Rasta chutes etc. The northeast facing aspects seemed to hold that nice chilly snow during this freeze/thaw cycle. After lunch getting into Cirque Ave some other fun stuff off the path. West Baldy, Peruvian area lots of goodies in there. Then to finish the day with some live music in the plaza 🍺
Forecast for snow tomorrow afternoon. 😢. I really thought about changing flight to red eye to get another day in but honestly, We all are pretty wiped out. Was pretty good and fun week even though snow conditions were not what you’d expect here but weather is always a roll of dice in trip planning

Today started with a nice snow shower. I hope the crew over in Park City has a piece of that. It softened the surface up enough to make fir a very fun day.
Visibility up top was pretty bad most of the day. The mountain staff posted signs “Experts Only” so I think that scared off the tourists bad the lift lines in Mineral were pretty short. 👍
The most fun for me was getting into some of the chutes and trees over in Little Cloud area,
My post yesterday was a wet avalanche debris. Kind of scary.

Bulletproof morning. Fast corn to slush cycle in Mineral Basin so that was the play.

They reported like 20 inches of snow here last week but sure doesn’t seem like it up on that ridge line. I am guessing it was very windy last week blowing snow out of the top of those lines she the bright March sun the past few days nuking the rest. Once you cleared the drop in area and the exposed rocks it was fun.

Crew was feeling sendy this afternoon. I Jerry landed it but one of us cleared the cat track
was hoping to hike up Baldy to go check out Livin the Dream but closed 😢

The sun was bright ☀️. The snow was everything from boilerplate to pure slush. And a little bit of nice chalk in between.
mountain reported 21” last week but the Cirque traverse was pretty rocky. Welcome to March sunshine. Great Scott was actually decent just the drop in was sketchy.
Had a little late morning show as two guys had hiked up the peak and went into a (as I heard) a rarely open line called Pipeline.
Winds were calm up top which I guess I can count as a win.

I try and take two a winter these days. One to JH and the other someplace else. Last year was Utah. Still thinking about where to go this March ...

This was my 8th (and shortest unfortunately). Always have a great time here. Glad for all your JH posts in from the past to convince me to visit this beautiful place.

I had a few days just as this crew departed and it was pretty much more of the same type of weather. Of course with my luck as I depart the snow arrives. 🥲
i feel bad cause I did not realize 49er is literally across the street from Mountain Modern. I would have stopped by to say Hi. 😔
@GrilledSteezeSandwich i had a French speaking crew on Mountain Modern bus offering everyone an early morning flask swig. They were from Montreal and I was invited up Tremblant anytime. They could really drink lol
Another guy from Exton, PA was staying out there ski bumming for three weeks. How I wish I could get that to happen for me. 🙏
Headwall and anything in Casper was closed during my stay. It is what it is. There is always next year. By Friday people were going out gates and my group had a short discussion about going up Cody. The intel was it was chalky snow up top but the bottom third of Rock Springs was a miserable sheet of ice heading back into the Hobacks. Deal breaker
So alot of our days started at Casper where the piste runs were groomed AM not PM. Not the steeps you want at JH but fun edgeable snow. The fog layer seemed to stay away from there.
Early lunch then over to Thunder and Sublette for some corn snow mogul laps around Ten Sleep, Cirque, Laramie area.
I don’t have pics yet but some North Trees were decent lines also cause hardly anyone was going in there and well when visibility was good it was nice.

It was fun times regardless of conditions Teton Thai up at the Bilkage had some really delicious food. I recommend, just get there before 530pm before the rest of the gsper hoards.

There is a line there called Beartooth. It’s on the trail map. It gets a decent amount of shade from the sun and the times I was there snow was good. (Pic of me in the middle of the run last year).

Smith goggle warranty

If you get the same model goggle then you have an extra pair of lense(s) in case they scratch or crack etc... I had the goggle with the reddish/orangish tint and I think all Smiths come with a flat light lense as well.
So all said and done once I proved I cut the strap they gave me voucher code values at the original product price.
