I actually think opening Monday is a sort of silly idea. Save the snow in whales to minimize melting and groom it out for the 26th when you will get crowds. There will not be many people out there this Monday.
I figure CB is doing Monday to get noticed as open so folks book hotel rooms for Xmas week.
That's exactly the idea. It'll last longer in a whale, last thing you want to do is compact, tear up, and till marginal snow with rain for three days straight, but hey as Drake said, "YOLO." We're gonna pump out as much as we can here at JFBB without a doubt and if the temp is in our favor we'll be able to run through the day tomorrow. I'll be sure to post updates from both mountains.

so can we expect a monday opening like camelback? would rather go to JF than CB
'If' would be the best word before Camelback. I can't rule anything out but more likely waiting out the next warm spell before touching the snow.

It'll come down to weather and elevation in the long run, plus the forecast next week looks like I'll be building an ark sooner than later.

This will be an impressive feat to pull off. Risky but impressive the way the weather has been but more power to them. Curious to the see the outcome come Sunday into Monday. Good day to watch social media.

Mother Nature hasn't been the best to provide snowmaking weather at all, rough start. Making the most of it.

Well we're going to open again... One trail as it has been, Freedom Park. There will be features, not sure what just yet.

Yesterday, aside from the drizzle, was a perfect spring park day. Too bad it's November and the snow isn't supposed to be slushy yet. Rail setup was a lot more fun than freedom has been for opening the past few years, but it started to get weird and janky by around 3 when all the professional film crews came out to get the shot for the boys. I may or may not have shifty tapped a light stand.
That should be the first and last time you get that close to a light stand especially one of mine. Yes I take a risk having it out on hill but an accident and purposely going for it is a whole different story. As for "professional film crews" I shoot for the resort as part of my job.

Better than I was expecting. We did 8 runs and then called it quits. I think Toast and I can claim first ones to the bottom. Also met weedreimer
Stoked you guys made it out today! It ended up being beautiful out, crowded but lift line was never obnoxious it seemed. Snow is holding up well. Get those turns in this weekend for $20.

Here's what you have all been waiting for - Two thumbs up for an awesome crew making this happen. 'Boulder Gives Back' all day on Friday from 10am to 8pm. On Saturday and Sunday $20 snow passes from 10am to 8pm. Get those shred planks and sticks ready!

No we're not doing a surprise opening today (Wednesday) but we should have a call sooner than later... and yes we are still doing 'Boulder Gives Back' regardless of when we open, that I can confirm.

Yessir and thanks, stoked to join the community here! Heather is still with us but handles marketing, I was brought on last year as the photographer and this year as well as shooting photos I'll also be handling our communications, social, and assisting with marketing.
To answer everyones question, all the shots I've posted so far are on Freedom or at the base of Freedom.

I'll keep you all posted with updates on opening. As soon as we know, you'll know on here. We just turned off the guns a little bit ago for the first time since Sunday night. Freedom ran through the day yesterday into last night with no grass showing when I did the morning run with our snowmakers. LOVE and our base area were fired up around 8:30pm last night. After walking down LOVE early this morning it would need a lot more nights to get it ready we're just working on getting the initial base down over there. This weather and upcoming forecast isn't making this easy to work with. Below are some photos from this morning... More to come as we figure things out here at the mountain.

Going into the second night here at big boulder PARK with snowmaking blasting away continuously since we lit up the guns late last night. Freedom approaching 24 hours of constant blowing, while LOVE was fired up tonight. More updates in the coming days...
