  1. I dont understand how you wake up at 7 to go skiing for 2 hours.

Because the weekend crowds at Blue don't show up until around 10 or so. If you get there at 7:30, the snow is the best. Hell if you get to any place for first chair the snow will be the best.

  2. Maybe they leave it the way it is because they think it's ungroomed, "off-piste" challenging terrain. It is a double black diamond after all. You need to do some serious checking yourself before you wreck yourself.

  3. ha i'll be there first chair. until about 3 in the afternoon. theres a chance of snow that day so hopefully it will scare people away. but yeah i figured that sidewinder wouldn't be open but you never know. :banghead :banghead :banghead

It was pouring yesterday and that scared no one away. Keep that in mind. Many people have there ski days/vacations planned out months in advance so they will ski no matter what.

  4. what the hell have they been doing with challenge that has made it so ultra shitty this year? i havent been to blue since challenge opened, so i havent skied it, but from what i've heard, its like a block of swiss cheese? how can they possibly groom something that terribly and be ok with the end result?

From the looks of it, they haven't been grooming it at all, or at least the top section of it. Mad death cookies and chunks missing both days I've skied it. I'm sure many more will get hurt on it.

  5. Tom Wallisch, Steve Stepp along with a bunch of Roundtop Riders will be at BB tomorrow. There is a large group of skiers home for the holidays making a reunion out of it tomorrow. There will be lots of cameras and lots of throwdowns, if you are park skier be there tomorrow.

What time is this all going down? I really feel like sleeping in tomorrow.

  6. Got up at about 7:45. Took some runs with toast, soft delicious packed snow on lazy and paradise. Went over to the park around 8:30 and met with Shadows and all them. Had a killer sesh in the park all day. Tricks went down, asians were sighted, clothes were wet. I did a wallride to fakie beowulf butter out and a pizza steeze on the rollercoaster. I also had the first nut of the season on the flat-down-flat. Couldn't get 2 out on the flat down today, I suck. Left at 1:30 when I started to ski lazily. Super fun day. Might go to BB tomorrow, might go to Blue. Might sleep till 1. Who knows.

  7. I think they should open sidewinder without the park until New Years and then close it up again and blow for the week and open the park the weekend after. I haven't seen it but assuming there is enough snow, just push it out and spread the crowds out they won't have the park built by new years anyway the weather isn't there to blow enough. This is one of the busiest weeks of the year you need to spread people out or you get more injuries, worse conditions, and a lot of unhappy people.

They wont do it. Suppose they groom and pack down sidewinder now, then we get another warm front after New Years. They wont be able to blow then, not to mention the current snow on there would have taken a turn for the worst with the mass crowds and warm weather. Right now there is enough snow to start building features I think, it just needs to be moved around. But since they only have one chance to build the park right they want to eliminate all chances of failure.

  8. A bevel will grip more on the ice. When I sharpen edges I slide the file down into the tool so it only touches the edge and doesn't grind away at the base. I haven't sharpened my edges in....ever. I completely detuned under my feet and around the nose/tails of my skis. My edges are pretty shitty right now anyway. Some gnarly pitting and kinks are in them now.
