  1. WHY ARE YOU CLOSING THIS WEEKEND IS GOES BACK BELOW FREEZING AT NIGHT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND ALL NEXT WEEK. god damn this place frustrates the fucking shit out of me. I can understand if coverage was super thin all around, which it might be after today, but setting a closing date a week in advance is a little bit much. Especially after they didnt open till like January. /rant

The snowmaking cut-off was reached last week, so it is irrelevant what the temperature will be next week...

I have been there almost everyday the past week and a half and we have barely had enough attendance to fill the first upper gravel lot on weekends let alone weekdays, even though I do not want it to end I can understand why the mountain chooses to shut down when COSTS > Income

There is a large snowmobile race next weeked which has been planned since last fall, despite the hopes of many, it is not really a viable option to stay open to skiers and riders when there are snowmobiles doing 80+ mph racing around the mountain. This is supposed to be a big event so I didnt expect to stay open.

Even yesterday while working, there are huge stretches on cascade in front of some of the boxes which are turning to complete mud. Black bear is the only run which has ALOT of snow. I agree the jumps could be pushed out and extend the season slightly with a hike park or something similar, but that is yet to be determined. ( and I highly doubt it due to liabilty and costs of still employing people to work it)

All these reasons aside, I agree it sucks bear is closing because it also means I am temporarily unemployed... but this is something people need to come to terms with because we live in PA and Bear is not a mountain that operates solely on the ski business. They will ultimately make the decisions that are most financially beneficial to the resort.

I hope everyone had as good a season as I did and I hope to see some wicked outfits for GAPER DAY this weekend!!!!! :wiggle:banana:

  2. There's no such thing as raging at kutztown. Cops cracked down hardcore this year.

Go to shortys. That's the closest to a rager you'll get and it still sucks

Not completely true, I still know of one house that can fit 100+ in the basement and has its own operating bar down there... as well as a few other smaller party houses

  3. Cascade is sickkkkk. The tubing jumps are weird. I feel like the first one is bigger than the second? Black bear needs a build but I'm sure that's in the works.

From what I heard, Black bear will be closed tomorrow for a rebuild and to build a jump for the big air contest this weekend.

  4. the new features are the 38' rail seen in the picture above, arbor rail, flat-down-flat, small cannon rail, slanted 420 box so its hit-able multiple ways, and the donkey d rail on a down.

  5. Anyone have word on the park setup?

Park setup is awesome, and not just saying that because I work there, added about 5-6 new features last night. Really fun, that 24 hours of snowmaking helped a ton.

  6. I'm on park crew, and yes there may be enough snow to open black bear and put a few rails on it, but if you have gone down it you would realize it is not flat across its width and does not yet have the "tiers" or different levels that it did last year where we can put features side by side. So at this point it would be a really sporadic setup if we were trying to put rails in random places because much of the trail is still very uneven and would likely pose an issue with groomers trying to properly set up the trails grade . Alot of snowmaking still has to occur before a jump line and other larger features can be built. Not trying to start a fight, just trying to convey my thoughts

  7. tell me im missing something, but did they still not fucking put any more rails in yet aside from what looks a like a bonk? what a joke.

Oh. I didn't know about the coverage part. I will run over the parking attendant if they don't put anything new out for tomorrow. I plan on being there.

With what snow would you like more features to be added?? There will be more features added in time, the mountain has literally been open for 4 days... its going to require more snowmaking and a night of re-grading the trail to accomodate more rails.

  8. Yeah I understand where they are coming from, I went up there this morning and despite all the guns being on it still looks like it would be way to thin after the cats got up there and groomed. I agree with there decision from what I saw

  9. Exactly like the description says, I have a brand new set of Intuition PowerWrap Liners that I am trying to sell locally for $100. I just bought them within the past month but unfortunately the volume of the liner appears to be too thick for my Nordica Ace of Spade boots. These are still in the plastic with the tags on, NEVER been heat molded or anything. Only reason I am not returning or exchanging is because the lowest shipping rate I have recieved to ship these back to Vancouver is $45 which on top of the purchase price is too much of a loss to swallow.

These liners are $187 dollars from Intuition. Im asking only $100 so if anyone local can benefit from this let me know. I can post pictures if you are all skeptical, but I am a pretty reputable person. Here is the link to the site if anyone would like to read more about them.

I am also including the home fit kit that came with the Liners. And just to remind everyone they are size 27.0, and it is the PowerWrap, not the Plug or PowerWrap+

  11. Dude has one post don't buy from him and the skis are hella old. Rossi scratches were only $200 new 5 years ago

If you read the post more closely instead of just posting, you would notice that there are Rossi FKS 18 bindings on the scratches which sell for $350 new. They consistently sell on other forums for $150-200 alone

  12. If you live towards the 400 block of main You had fight night outside of your house the other night haha

Shit when was this I never even heard about it and I was up here all weekend? I live behind Deturks Hardware, low 300 level block

  13. Nice to see some other KU people on here. I live on Sander Alley just up the street from Shorty's and I also work on the park crew at Bear Creek. Hope to see alot of KU people out at bear this year, I know there are a few of us. And btw I am a senior and dont think the ski/snowboard club is active or even exists anymore... maybe one of you younger guys can resurrect it.
