  1. The only thing I know of (and I already admitted I'm not an expert on this subject) that Sno did not provide was dirt work.

for what it's worth, i understand that Neptune prefers making half pipes without digging dirt. i was told by Sno mgmt last year when they were blowing all the snow for the 22' pipe that Neptune liked having the flexibility of "moving" the pipe as they cut it and not being limited by the dirt hole.

  3. i was killing some time today and stopped by TJ MAxx, and they have a bunch of pants and jackets in stock, lots of marker, and a decent selection of pants, all pretty good deals, especially If you dont mind wearing last years stuff at half price. Also, the ski corner is having their tent sale, starting tomorrow. I stopped in to look around and left with a sweet deal on a new board... oh well. rent is for losers.

this week through Sat the 18th is also Buckman's Pre-Season Sale (Tent Sale & Swap). we have received a lot of consignment items so some great deals are to be had. Tents are at Montgomeryville, King of Prussia and Reading.

  4. Hey,

Want to hit Camelback this season but not planning on buying a pass?

Buckman's has an exclusive new item from Camelback called the Triple Ticket Card.

For $79 you get a card which is valid for 3 open - close lift tickets to Camelback.

(Good ANY day except MLK weekend and President's Weekend.)

    That's only $26 for a lift ticket.

    "Triple Ticket Card:

The card retails for $79.00 per card and it will give the user 3 lift tickets good throughout the 2008-2009 winter season, with the exception of MLK weekend and Presidents Weekends. The Triple Ticket Card offers up to 50% savings over the retail day lift ticket prices. The card is easy to use, go to any ticket window at Camelback Mountain Resort hand the card to the ticket clerk, the card will be swiped and out comes an open-to-close lift ticket for the day. Please note the card can only be redeemed for one ticket per day. The Triple Ticket Card is non-refundable and non-transferrable, and it is only valid for the 2008-2009 season."

You can only buy the Triple Ticket Card in Buckman's stores now through 12/13. Not available online. Offer is gone after 12/13/08.

  5. Not that anybody really cares but Rich Wiseman just landed as President of Bromley, VT.

AND the guy who was President even took a "demotion" so that Rich could step in.

  6. I know there are some Elk regulars on here. What happened to the on hill demos on Friday, 2/29? There were no reps anywhere on the mountain, and so no demos to be found. When I picked up some tickets at a local ski shop they said two of their reps were going to be there.

Over the years Elk has had good demo days (for PA and the Mid Atlantic), four a season starting in Early Jan and ending in late Feb/early March, and many different reps present, and usually a good variety of skis to choose from, too. And if you waited for the demos later in the season, you could sometimes try a few of the 'next year's' skis.

But they dropped the ball on this one, two thumbs down to Elk!

Elk knew going in that their last 2 Winterfest dates wouldn't have demos. The February 1st date was the last day of the SIA Vegas show. I know we sold tickets to that date and clearly advertised that there would be NO demos.

The February 29th date was the last day of the Edison, NJ show.

If all the reps are tied up at shows then they can't be at Elk doing demos.

The only demos left in the region are Shop Employee only demos. If you really want to try next year's gear head to a demo center up north or wait until next December.

Don't need 2 items? Bring a friend and each get 1 item then split the cost.

Don't have any friends? then take 30% off a single item.

All our gear is on sale as well. It's March Clearance Time!!!!!

The biggest Cardboard Derby will be Friday the 29th at Jack Frost. It's the Preston and Steve (WMMR) Cardboard Box Derby!

you can find video on wmmr.com of theirs.

Don't even think you need a lift ticket because they do it on their tubing hill.

  10. I wanted to find out who was going to the Buckman's Rail Jam tomorrow and at what time.

I was going to ride Boulder Saturday and stay through Sunday,

but now I'm thinking about grabbing 1st chair Saturday and driving back to Buckman's for the Rail Jam.

I called the shop and got a few times from them:

    Ok, here's the deal -

Going to be a great time even if you aren't competing. Loads of giveaways.

    See you tomorrow!

  11. ll take 2 I'll give u ten bucks each

Just be careful! Most resorts can invalidate the tickets if they find out they were re-sold.

Anytime they give tickets/vouchers to ski clubs or other organizations as donations they clearly state that if they are sold they are void.

since you didn't pay for them, why not spread the love and simply give them to someone or just let them expire.

  12. it's saturday at the King of Prussia mall parking lot. starts around 12 or 1 i believe.

on another note, i just talked to cosco and it appears as though he in fact will not be attending on saturday.

Ok, just found out from Atomic that Ian went off on his own and booked a trip to the Nippon Open without telling Atomic.

That said, they have booked Tim Durtschi instead. Tim had the opening segment of Poor Boyz movie this year plus a segment in Rage Films.

for you boarders we also just confirmed David Audbry courtesy of Oakley.

as we get closer to the event we are still working to finalize Pros. stay tuned!

  13. Looking for a conditions report for the non park part of the mountain. Thanks in advance and see you all up there tommorow AM.

I was there this morning until about Noon and....

snow conditions were ok. typical sugar snow. if they get another night of blowing and grooming they will be good. It's just the curse of rain, cold temps then warm temps and a lot of people using the slopes.

Don't get me wrong, they were in good shape overall. Just not ideal but who is at this point?

    BUT

it was crazy crowded. The line to get into the rental shop was taking 2 hours. They had to extend the 4 hour lift ticket because everyone was spending 1/2 there ticket standing in line for rentals.

The lift ticket line didn't really start to clear out until 11am and was probably taking 30-40mins to get a lift ticket. They were parking in the very first parking lots as you come in (the gravel ones) by about 10am.

Amazingly the lift lines weren't that long (probably because everyone was standing in line to get rentals and lift tickets) but were on the increase.

Get there early, park close, stake out a table, make some runs, don't eat during the peak times, wander into the bar and relax!
