  1. dont knock the bus til you've hit it. the fact that the rail is built on top of a bus really doesnt factor into it whatsoever. its just a big gap up onto a nice flatstock rail with a big gap off. its just intimidating cause there is a bus sitting under it.

It's not intimidating until you stick a 767 with a wing to wing rail on the mtn. hehe

  2. so i just have a quick question. would any of the employees from boulder's park crew/judging staff be able to explain to me how i scored 0 points for the feature marked J2 on the scoresheet at the z games last night? i'm really confused as to how that happened, because i'm pretty sure i actually did a trick on every feature and didnt fall either run.

you must have not paid the judges enough.... :rofl

But seriously, maybe the accidently mark someone else down on your spot. It happens every so often.

  3. The Boulder Cross name was used back in 2001-2002 season for the park and races on Big Boulder trail.Gotta give mad props to Moto-X for building that!!!That was prolly his best work up until recently.Sick,Sick Sick.I was one of the first people to drop-in on it when finished.I bet it was the most fun I ever had at JFBB that season on the Boulder Cross course. There must be a few head's on here that remember it???The HUGE water-gap(literally,it was a warm winter) at the end was nut's until they made him take it out due to high risk. That gap hadda be around 30',it you didn't make it across you were taking a bath.Anyway,on to my name suggestion...how about "Boulder X-ing"?Make a sign like a moose or deer crossing traffic sign for the trail, lolz.

I remeber that boulder cross park. It was sweet. I remeber one day comming down, noone arround and some chick and her little bro were sitting on the back of the last jump just were you couldn't see them until you were just going airborn. Needless to say, she learned her lesson about sitting on the back of jumps. I hit her so hard she passed out, I felt bad. I wish I had it on video and bolder would play it over and over to show people what could happen.

  4. Also, IDK if anyone else here agree's, but I found widenig my stance to the max on the board made rails 100 times easier for me to do.

stay low with knees bent, and lean forward if you are having trouble with falling back. just practice it alot...boardslides are now second nature to me and i can do them without thinking

    ^what he said

    dont lean back

seen a few peeps break tailbones by leaning back to far on rails.

Stick with boxes (or wide rails) to you feel comfortable hopping on boardslide (almost like second nature) and then progress to the rails. You won't hurt yourself as much. Not that I am saying bomb the hill but rails/ boxes are easier to do faster then slower. Your also less likly to get hurt if you mess up as you'll clear the feature fast enough (taking from the side also helps). The right speed I find is landing about a foot to two feet in on the rail.

This is all my opinion/observations from my experience over the years. Anyone who disagrees, please chime in.

  5. Yea, Cold as hell, a little ice patches here and there but for the most part it was real nice. The ice was a non factor as there wasn't enough to effect your riding, just would catch you off guard once in a while. Park creww was right on top of fixing the park up right till the end of the night. They were blowing piles where the pipe it going to go, so i am guessing by next week they should have a pipe.

  6. I would think that there thermometer is not accurate. There have been times where there humidity read 0%. They are the same temp as Mt. Pocono.

Any other year they would blow snow. It must have something to do w/ Peak. This time of the year, they should suck it up and blow every chance they get....especially the way this winter has. If all the other places are doing it, JFBB shouldn't have a problem.

good point, Thanks, Ill have to recheck it, it could be possible the thermistor needs to be replaced.

On theother note, I agree, if it's a $/electric issue, they are foolish. Look at what happened to places like BC and camelback who had to close on the warmups. I would be building up the base as much as possible. Right now it looks like jack is blowing and it looks like they are blowing widow at bolder.

  7. Earlier I drove up frpm Allentown to Blue and the temperature dropped from 30 degrees in the A to 27 degrees at Blue on the drive up..and that was right when you said it was 35 degrees by jackfrost..so you live on top of a hot springs or something??? And it was below freezing in Philly..better re-calibrate the equipment..

I'll do it again this weekend, but it was reading about 1deg diff. from the big boulder thermo. I don't know where theirs is mounted, but mine is not in the sun and out of direct wind path.

also, if it was below freezing in Philly and 30 in Allentown....? Again, pressure sytems change and can cause weird anomilies the cause it to be colder in a more sothern place. Note, I am note the one who said below freezing in Philly

  8. I work for an insurance company.. and yes, it is covered under the contents portion of a homeowners policy.

Like Johnnypowder said, the best thing to do is take an inventory (photo or video) of all of your things. Keep a copy of it and also see if you insurer will take a copy (just in case your copy was stolen or burned in a fire!). However, I highly doubt any insurance company would let you put it on your policy like a peice of jewelry.. mainly b/c this is an item that you are using alot, and subjecting it to a lot of wear and tear amonst everything else. We have people trying to add their golf clubs, bikes, computers to their policy and we have to decline it. We just tell them it is covered under the contents portion.

Though it may be listed on your policy and if it were stolen, you are still subject to the deductible... so if board and bindings were less than your deductible, you have to pay for all of it.

Its a great thing those kids were caught, but all the more reason for CB to stop trying to earn a $ for every little thing and have a free ski/board check like Blue.

JFBB started with the free check this year and it is great, but still only as good as the people running it.

  9. I am looking at the weather right now and it is 22 degrees with 45% humidity which equals a wet bulb of somewhere between 16 and 20 degrees according to this:

    http://www.skibearcreek.com/winter/winter_...ortwetbulb.aspx

I see no reason why JFBB should not be making snow at this point unless they are having equipment problems or something unforseen. These next few days are prime snowmaking oppurtunities and imo should not be missed given the previous stretch of warm weather.

Look at the readings on the mtn in real time. http://www.jfbb.com/webcams.asp The wecams gives you the temp and humdity.

    37deg

    43%

wetbulb of about 31, can't make snow

  10. Thank you - where is a good place to purchase? I would like to bring it back home.

Dpends on where you are, If you are in the Big Boulder / Jack Frost area there are 2 places. 940 ski/SB shop onRT 940 has Burton. And Mike and matts on rt 115 sells brands like GNU, Nideker, etc.

Personally I like Mike and matt's better. I stopped shopping at 940 after they crossthreaded a couple screws on me and gave me attitude while looking a new bindings.

  11. Can somebody please explains this, preferably somebody from JFBB? Why were all of the snow guns turned off this morning, when it was 11 degrees...was it TOO cold? I can see on the open trails, but the closed trails didn't even have the hoses hooked up. The phone recording says that they are making snow whenever possible. It doesn't get much better than what it was this morning and nothing was running :confused:confused:confused:confused:confused . At least blow snow on the trails that are closed.

May have something with the expected afternoon warmup that pushed the wetbulb temps to 22+. Right now the wet bulb is 27 which is really shitty snowmaking. anything 21 and above gives you a poor snow quality. Now at 11deg there shouldn't be a prob, but again, if you need to shut down equipment ( lets say it takes 2 - 3 hours ) and the wetbulb is expected to hit say 21 by 11am then you may want to start shutting down the guns at arround 8 or 9.

  12. This stuff is better and doesn't need to be wetted.

    http://www.neveplast.it/eng/np30.html

Hmm, wonder what this stuff is really like. Their the first ones I've seen adv. use for snowtubes. The only prob I see with the one is it doesn't look tho have an underpadding which may make it harder to turn and hurt a hell of a lot more. And if it has hard loops like dendix, you'll want to tape your hand in a fist so you don't break any fingers. Of cours I am just speculating as they don't really give you design details on their website.

Makes me wonder, what resort arround here will experiment first?

  13. How is that supposed to feel? Is it like groomed snow? Can you have it bumped?

It supposed to feel liked groomed snow @ 11am but thats about 80% true. Yes, it can be "bumped" into mogals and such.

  14. and im sure youd be this way too if we started "attacking" your home mtn

    Nope,

    1. because it is probobly at least 50% true

    2. because it is most likly an attack on that managment of the mtn and not on me. (unless it is a mtn I own)

    3. If it was a mtn I own, I would want feedback, positive or negative.

and lastly, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT

Life is to short to take everything too seriously. Remeber, opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.

BTW, Don't take any of this personally. If you do, well, all I can say is it's time to grow up and learn what life is about.

  15. what people also have to understand and keep screwing up and being dumbasses about is remembering the location and water supply of bear. bear is a little futher south from jfbb and its enough for a small degree change. also bear takes their water for snowmaking from a sitting pond which is warmer then running water in rivers where most other mountains get their water. so really you cant be dissing bear for their lack of snow, all there is to diss is the sun making the water too warm

i dont know how many times people have tried to explain what i said above but the other people just dont seem to get it :banghead

Very true, I have to give them that. Time to invest in chillers for next year and hope for good wet bulb temps.

  16. Whatever jackasses, they're blowing snow right now. How many of you would give you "expert" opinions if we were 5 ft deep in snow right now? Amazing how all the "experts" in here must major in snowmaking 101. That is, if you're even out of high school yet. :wiggle

Sorry, didn't know you kids would get all bent out of shape about this. :crymore:

I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot you all would be poking fun at another mtn.

btw. when is BC opening back up and when do they expect to have a park?

  17. i don't really understand it though is it just a sheet that is laid down, if it is, how would u turn on it.

It is kinda like the plastic fingers on velco but about 1" ot 1 1/2" high an the are looped. There is a padded base below. It's ok to ride on, feels a little wierd, but from what I understand it is high dedpendant on water lubrication which mean no water=bad for your base.

It would actually work well in NEPA but in places it get real hot it would ruin the base of the board.
