  1. It's not intimidating until you stick a 767 with a wing to wing rail on the mtn. hehe
  2. you must have not paid the judges enough.... But seriously, maybe the accidently mark someone else down on your spot. It happens every so often.
  3. I remeber that boulder cross park. It was sweet. I remeber one day comming down, noone arround and some chick and her little bro were sitting on the back of the last jump just were you couldn't see them until you were just going airborn. Needless to say, she learned her lesson about sitting on the back of jumps. I hit her so hard she passed out, I felt bad. I wish I had it on video and bolder would play it over and over to show people what could happen.
  4. For a minute I thought they were claiming credit for the areas other mtn's open trails.
  5. Also, IDK if anyone else here agree's, but I found widenig my stance to the max on the board made rails 100 times easier for me to do. ^what he said seen a few peeps break tailbones by leaning back to far on rails. Stick with boxes (or wide rails) to you feel comfortable hopping on boardslide (almost like second nature) and then progress to the rails. You won't hurt yourself as much. Not that I am saying bomb the hill but rails/ boxes are easier to do faster then slower. Your also less likly to get hurt if you mess up as you'll clear the feature fast enough (taking from the side also helps). The right speed I find is landing about a foot to two feet in on the rail. This is all my opinion/observations from my experience over the years. Anyone who disagrees, please chime in.
  6. geez, I sprained my wrist and they practicly life flighted me. They are usually very good.
  7. Yea, Cold as hell, a little ice patches here and there but for the most part it was real nice. The ice was a non factor as there wasn't enough to effect your riding, just would catch you off guard once in a while. Park creww was right on top of fixing the park up right till the end of the night. They were blowing piles where the pipe it going to go, so i am guessing by next week they should have a pipe.
  8. good point, Thanks, Ill have to recheck it, it could be possible the thermistor needs to be replaced. On theother note, I agree, if it's a $/electric issue, they are foolish. Look at what happened to places like BC and camelback who had to close on the warmups. I would be building up the base as much as possible. Right now it looks like jack is blowing and it looks like they are blowing widow at bolder.
  9. I'll do it again this weekend, but it was reading about 1deg diff. from the big boulder thermo. I don't know where theirs is mounted, but mine is not in the sun and out of direct wind path. also, if it was below freezing in Philly and 30 in Allentown....? Again, pressure sytems change and can cause weird anomilies the cause it to be colder in a more sothern place. Note, I am note the one who said below freezing in Philly
  10. OK, what do you doubt, It's recently calibrated equipment that got those readings.
  11. from Philly it's faster to take the Turnpike to Pittston and then jump onto 81N
  12. JFBB started with the free check this year and it is great, but still only as good as the people running it.
  13. weather systems are weird, today I had a high of 38 and a low of 28 so far. Humidity has been steady arround 42% +/-4%
  14. I am 8 lateral miles from JF and it is 35.8deg right now
  15. Look at the readings on the mtn in real time. http://www.jfbb.com/webcams.asp The wecams gives you the temp and humdity. 37deg 43% wetbulb of about 31, can't make snow
  16. Dpends on where you are, If you are in the Big Boulder / Jack Frost area there are 2 places. 940 ski/SB shop onRT 940 has Burton. And Mike and matts on rt 115 sells brands like GNU, Nideker, etc. Personally I like Mike and matt's better. I stopped shopping at 940 after they crossthreaded a couple screws on me and gave me attitude while looking a new bindings.
  17. May have something with the expected afternoon warmup that pushed the wetbulb temps to 22+. Right now the wet bulb is 27 which is really shitty snowmaking. anything 21 and above gives you a poor snow quality. Now at 11deg there shouldn't be a prob, but again, if you need to shut down equipment ( lets say it takes 2 - 3 hours ) and the wetbulb is expected to hit say 21 by 11am then you may want to start shutting down the guns at arround 8 or 9.
  18. Hmm, wonder what this stuff is really like. Their the first ones I've seen adv. use for snowtubes. The only prob I see with the one is it doesn't look tho have an underpadding which may make it harder to turn and hurt a hell of a lot more. And if it has hard loops like dendix, you'll want to tape your hand in a fist so you don't break any fingers. Of cours I am just speculating as they don't really give you design details on their website. Makes me wonder, what resort arround here will experiment first?
  19. It supposed to feel liked groomed snow @ 11am but thats about 80% true. Yes, it can be "bumped" into mogals and such.
  20. Nope, 1. because it is probobly at least 50% true 2. because it is most likly an attack on that managment of the mtn and not on me. (unless it is a mtn I own) 3. If it was a mtn I own, I would want feedback, positive or negative. and lastly, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT Life is to short to take everything too seriously. Remeber, opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. BTW, Don't take any of this personally. If you do, well, all I can say is it's time to grow up and learn what life is about.
  21. Very true, I have to give them that. Time to invest in chillers for next year and hope for good wet bulb temps.
  22. Sorry, didn't know you kids would get all bent out of shape about this. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot you all would be poking fun at another mtn. btw. when is BC opening back up and when do they expect to have a park?
  23. It is kinda like the plastic fingers on velco but about 1" ot 1 1/2" high an the are looped. There is a padded base below. It's ok to ride on, feels a little wierd, but from what I understand it is high dedpendant on water lubrication which mean no water=bad for your base. It would actually work well in NEPA but in places it get real hot it would ruin the base of the board.
  24. hahahaha, poor BC, I wish they were open, I did like their park last year.
