  1. Morning Update: Rhodo park is closed --- the landings are hard. The Big Pipe will continue to be open. Conditions are Packed Pow, with spots of hard packed snow. Snow surface conditions are very good - even on the hard packed snow. Wind is brisk -- watch out for frost bite.
  2. The artic air continues to stay in the Poconos and the snow makers have been real busy blowing in the the LG Park and Pipe with snow!! Today - CB has all slopes open (EXCEPT THE LG PARK & PIPE) also open is the Rhodo Park and the Big Pipe. All slopes have been groomed (including Rocket), but the bumps have been left on Lower Cleo. Snow surface is Packed Pow and very good coverage continues. With the current cold temperatures -- the snow has stayed real dry and is squeeky and fast!! Crowds should be light -- plenty of mid-week room to carve, freeride and jib in the park. Please watch out for frost bite!! Take breaks often to warm up.
  3. A few weeks ago it was 60 degrees -- this morning it was below ZERO at CB!! Everything is open EXCEPT for the LG PARK and PIPE. LG is recieving another round of snowmaking. The Rhodo Park and the Big Pipe are both open. The Oakley Rail Jam Quarter Pipe in Sunbowl is still in place for your jibbing pleasure. Bumps continue on Rocket, and reports are that the slope is a little scratched off. If Bumps are what your looking for -- Lower Cleo might be the route. Conditions are packed pow, with very good coverage. Crowds should be light because it's Monday and cold. If you like packed pow, and no crowds and nearly exclusive use of a Quarter Pipe, Today is your Day!! Please take measures to protect yourselves from frost bite -- you don't know you got it until it's too late...
  4. Ooops -- sorry wrong month -- I wish it was January..
  5. Superbowl Sunday --- Today - everything is open, both parks and the big pipe. Conditions are packed pow with very good coverage. One half of Raceway will be closed for the Mid-Atlantic Snowboard race, but there is still plenty of room to ride. I bet that by mid-day there will be a light crowd due to the temps and being SuperBowl Sunday. The features used in the jam will be soon added to the Rhodo Park and add to the hit selection. Please remember that a Park Pass is needed for both Rhodo Park and Oak Grove Pipe. Special thanks for all the riders/skiers that came out for the Oakley Rail Jam and made for a great spectator event. Also a special thanks to Oakley, Buchman's and The Loft for sponsoring the event. Without the sponsors -- cool events won't happen. We are into several days of very cold temperatures -- please be aware of frostbite.
  6. Update for Today's Dawn Patrol Report: The Laurel Glade Park has: Rainbow Box Log Jib 16' Flat Box Flat - Down Box 12' Up Box 2 Jumps and Yes -- the sun is still out. 7. Wednesday -- today I'll try not to post as lame as yesterday.. We have 27 (of 33) slopes open, including the Oak Grove Pipe and Laurel Glade Park. I don't have a report on the LG park set up at this time, but will post after I get it. Conditions are packed pow, with very good coverage - edge-to edge. Snowmaking is continuing on the remaining trails and this weekend we are looking forward to having 100% open. Todays highlights -- Cliffhanger is open - Who's going to be first (other than SKi911)? Bumps on Middle Cleo The Big Pipe Lastly -- The Half Pipe Fence crisis -- This has been resolved -- yesterday the park guys moved the fence much more up hill. There should be no more problems. If you like packed pow, skiing bumps and arching GS turns on Clifhanger -- all with no crowds -- Today is your Day!!
  8. Beverage selection -- I got that from coming in the from checking the slopes --- and mixing my coffee with hot cocco, and reflecting on the wide assortment of drinks in the cooler and Main Lounge (for those 21 and over)... We have huge selection of Pepsi Products, apple juice, orange juice and cranberry juice and gallons of coffee & hot cocco!! Sorry for the lame line, it's early. In any event, the skiing/riding is going to be darn good today!!
  9. Tuesday - Forecast is calling to be a few degrees warmer than yesterday and a few clouds. We have 25 slopes open with packed pow and good coverage. The Laurel Glade Terrain Park is closed for snowmaking and will reopen Wednesday. I haven't gotten any word on the set up -- but it will most likley be comparable to past set -up's (I'll post more info when I get it). The LG Half Pipe is getting blown in with snow -- no opening date yet -- but it is getting snow and will open soon. The big pipe is open. Most of the remaining un-opened slopes are getting the finishing touches of snowmaking and rough grooming. The weekend outlook is looking like we'll be nearly 100%. Again - if you like packed pow, no crowds and huge selection of beverages with no wait -- today is your day!!!
  10. We are currently making snow on several trails. Snowmaking took a brief rest on Saturday, but started again Sunday. For this coming weekend -- we will most likely have several additional slopes open. Give me a day or two to narrrow down which ones will be ready to go and on opeing date.
  11. Papa- Thanks for the critique. The photo that you used for the review on the other message board was taken after one of many shaping sessions by the groomer (cut Thursday Night, photographed and posted Friday). Your expert was correct- it was a little rough. To judge our pipe with that photo is incorrect-- that
  12. If you missed CB this weekend, you missed out on some good skiing and riding! The Pipe opened, and we had a bunch more trails open. But don't worry -- We have more of the same today, and most likely, no crowds! We have 25 slopes open, including the New Pipe and the LG park (sorry - same set up), good coverage edge-to-edge with Packed Pow conditions. The Rhodo should be opening later this week. As soon as I get a more exact date for Rhodo, I'll post. If you like packed pow, a nice pipe and no crowds -- today is your day!!
  13. Below is a link to the CB photo page -- as I promised a few pipe riders -- I posted their photos on the website. The highlights of my day were seeing the Tele skier in the pipe and the snowboarder doing a hand plant. http://gallery.skicamelback.com/gallery/al...t.php?cat_id=68 I saw a lot of great pipe riding. Unfortunatly I couldn't put all the great photos up.
  14. Thanks to all that made it out today for the opening of the pipe. Below is a link for a few photos. http://gallery.skicamelback.com/gallery/al...t.php?cat_id=67 If your haven't gotten your Park/Pipe Pass, the Park Crew Hut at the top of Rhodo is open.
  15. Just in-- Little Caesar, Pocono Raceway, Pharaoh and the Bactrian will open Thursday-- all skied from the Stevens Quad..
  16. OK -- you are getting it here first --- When the new Pipe opens, it will ALSO REQUIRE A PARK PASS TO RIDE!! Both the Rhodo Park and the Pipe will require the park pass -- so pick one up!! This weekend, the Hut at the top of Rhodo will be open to view the video and get the pass (Rhodo won't be open). Park Pipe Pass, Park Pipe Pass, Park Pipe Pass!!! We are still shooting for a weekend opening for the pipe. I just got this info about one minute ago --- I'll post more as I get the info..
  17. Ok -- Here we are back at it for another day-- Today we got the same 18 trails + the Laural Park, with machine groomed pow, with good edge-to-edge coverage. Temps were cold last night and snowmaking went well. Again, today I would expect light crowds and tonight with the usual school programs. If you like machine groomed, pack pow and no crowds -- today is your day!! What is there to look forward to? There is a good chance that Little Caesar, Pocono Raceway, Pharaoh and the Bactrian will open within the next few days -- all skied from the Stevens Quad. I'll post more as I get it. Pipe was cut and shaped last night (2nd round) and I was told that it's looking good. My gosh does that thing require a ton and a ton more of snow!!! We got a picture yesterday, but it really stunk and you couldn't tell it was even there --- way flat light and fog. Sorry for not posting, but I'll try to get better one today..
  18. Holly Cow!! A thread about "Nice Things." Thanks for the thoughts! All thoughts and comments are appreciated -- even by the Pappa and the Anti-CB crew. I'm just glad that there are skiers and riders out there that feel passionate about winter sports... If your not at CB, that's cool. Just keeping getting out on the snow..
  19. Raceway & the New Pipe -- Shooting for opening this weekend. Pharaoh, Bactrian & Nile Mile -- Too early to give an exact date. Snowmaking today might not be as efficient as hoped for (temps and humidity are rising). But it's going to get real coooold later this week and snowmaking will push out a ton of snow... I'll post more as soon as I know.
  20. Dude! Thanks for the brief vote of confidence!! Any new videos??
  21. Snowmaking has just started on both -- they are both large slopes and require a lot of snow -- it's going to be a few days. I don't think by the end of the week. I'll post more as progress is made..
  22. Here it is.... Snowmaking has started on the Rhodo Park and Nile Mile. For both the Pipe and Raceway -- we are shooting for a weekend opening (Marketing Disclaimer -- provided that the forecast holds accurate and snowmaking is efficient). Big picture -- CB has a total 160 Skiable acres, at this time we have 90+- acres open and by the weekend it should be around 115+- acres open. For another fun CB statistic -- the Meadows is 6 acres and the Nile Mile is 13 acres. With the current weather -- getting 100% open should not be much longer... Keep thinking snow (and cold temps)... Again, still haven't made it past my desk to get a picture of the pipe... sorry...
  23. Mystrymaster: Thanks for considering coming to PA (and the Poconos) for your ski outing!! All the Pocono Mountain Ski Areas are excited about the recent cold temperatures and are making tons of snow. For skiiing and riding at CB -- there is a decent selection of slopes open (and more by the weekend) and several lifts to get you around the slopes. You can read all sorts of opinions in the MB as to where to go -- so I'll leave out my personal bias -- and please consider visiting the website for trail/lift/rate information In additon to the skiing and riding for the weekend, we have a couple of live bands playing in the main lounge (it's usually a real good time). Pocono Duo plays on Friday 2- 6 Right Hand Red plays on Saturday 4- 8pm
