  1. The weather looks uncooperative next week, but the first week of December looks sick.
  2. It was snowing when I walked to class at 4:30... and I'm in Philly.
  3. Well the ground was obviously cold enough. If it does warm up a bit later they should be able to have laid down enough base over the course of the week to carry them over. Yay for early winter, lets hope it stays this way.
  4. what about possible rain over thanksgiving?
  5. sick vid You should improve the grammar on your site though...
  6. Why are they cutting the pipe now? Aren't we just getting rain/mix tomorrow?
  7. As long as you can turn in the air you're fine.
  8. Bear Creek should have June Day... like the Tyrol Basin summer jam. Throw a tarp and some tires over that shit and have a rail jam in the summer.
  9. Its a matter of knowing where to put your remaining snow. Bear could do something if there was really a drive to do it. Yeah cascade and tubing park would work too. Tubing because of the huge amounts of snow in the jumps and Cascade is shaded by the trees. I think Bear could definitely do this: build up Cascade/tubing parks, then after the mountain officially closes run the double lift fridays-sundays or something allowing the snow to set up and last longer and then you only have to run one lift for three days. I think it would work and we'd get a week or two more out of it.
  10. I detuned my board and now I can't turn. I love it.
  11. Once the ground thaws under the snowpack it becomes like a pat of butter melting in a skillet. The lower part of the terrain park gets it the worst because alllllll the melt water drains down that way. Personally I think they should put the terrain on what is now Kodiak as that side lasts way longer. That or start moving the terrain onto Kodiak and abandon Black Bear/Cascade parks. If they manage their snow well (which admittedly is a lot like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic) they can make it to the last week of March, maybe even the first week of April, but it won't be pretty.
  12. I saw huge puddles on the webcam. They'll make more snow this week but... I think in a week or two we'll be starting the long slide towards closing. They need to pile up what they can now before its too late.
  13. This is so depressing...
  14. Theres like that metal pipe sticking up on cascade before the tree-jib and dfd. Is that supposed to be a bonk or was it meant to kill noobs?
  15. I'm driving up from the Fleetwood area, or I plan on it, tomorrow to ride at Blue. Looking at the weather I'm thinking of canning the trip because the car I drive (97 VW Jetta) sucks in the snow. So basically any locals know if the road conditions will hold up tomorrow? They're calling for 1-3 inches during the day and a mix by night. I'll probably be leaving by 4:00 so hopefully I'll miss the ice/sleet/snow mix.
  16. How was MASS? btw EAZY I saw you flippin from the lift, sick stuff
  17. I've only seen one blader this year. It was kinda hilarious, his blade fell off and he couldnt get it back on so he just stood in the landing trying to get it back on. He gave up and walked off... I laughed.
  18. Not with the rain. This weekend looks nice though.
  19. The forecast doesnt look too bad anymore. Tomorrow is gonna be painful though, 62 with rain.
  20. I remember the one time I went to shawnee was like 3 years ago. It was their last week and they just got 6 freakin inches of snow which was weird as hell. Anyways the place was totally empty except for maybe 20-30 of the local park rats. Their park was totally unrideable as the snow was so sticky you couldnt make it down the mountain let alone get speed for any of the hits. The one feature that was doable was a flat down box whos run in was slick enough to actually get speed to. That being said it was a pretty chill scene, the park rats even dug out one of the straight boxes making a flat down gap down box. Before we set it up we had fun riding down the mountain in it tobogan style. Good times. Sketchy mountain though.
  21. They probably won't take a loss. They've done it in Britain and its been successful there. Here the snowboard community is a lot bigger than in the UK.
  22. I laughed. Before I hit up the steps I make sure there's at least a 2 inch gap between my goggles and my helmet.
  23. High pressure off cali and a big storm hitting the northwest is gonna funnel in a lot of pacific air which is gonna pen all the arctic air up in Canadia. After that the amount of pacific air coming in gradually lessens however big high pressure off Carolina coast is gonna suck up lots and lots of warm gulf air (think early jan). Once that breaks down cold air will be allowed to come back in. Anyway that all had nothing to do with snowflex. If Bear can get a hold of some I'd definitely pay to ride it.
  24. They already tried this. They tried contacting the snowflex guys about a price but they never got back to them.
  25. la nina = turning a hair dryer on over the US
