  1. Sunday is Easter, only athiests and agnostics will be there cutting their already low turnout by 90%. But really, they should at least stay open through Satruday. If the weather is 50 and brilliant, i'd be pissed. I'm long since done there this year, but why not stay open that one extra day?

  2. Been there for 20 years. They used to (don't think they do anymore) host a PGA tour event once a year.

Something i didnt know, i haven't been there much in many years but never saw an advert. or sign pointing to a course off the access road.

I think Scrantons rich and famous is anybody who makes over $50,000 a year lol. Scranton makes me appreciate Allentown.

Isn't $50k a bit generous GSS? I'd lean more towards 'just has a job'.

  3. There is a private golf club there. Pretty nice course actually.

Really huh? Didn't know that. Never poked around up there much. Full 18 holes? I'm pretty sure it was more or less a recent thing and not part of the original development. Could be wrong there too.

  4. Y'all know Sno isn't currently owned by anyone who knows anything about the ski industry, right? If it were up to whatever managerial structure was remaining there, they'd have pushed for some end of year fun stuff. But the bank got 'em and they want to stop hemmoraging $$$. Word does have it that employees there were told they have a job next year. Whether that means coming back as on-snow work or coming back with chainsaws and wrenches to start gutting the place for condos, who knows.

  5. Good thing you stayed in lower pa bro, crazy crazy busy, other parking lot packed. I didn't ski long today, instead working on the house instead. I'll pop in later tonight if you are still at the party, not sure if I'm sticking around tomorrow, can't handle the crowds!

  6. Hey coach, I do probably spend too much time here, lol. This year I've kept my earplugs in and haven't paid too much attention to the chatter. I'm just tweaked cause of all the turmoil at anyplace where I spend good money to escape the 9-5only to run into more BS. I'm finding it best to keep focus on the snow, and post ski beverages ;-) I heard nothing about that preliminary hearing, and I have no hope for a quick resolution. You going up this weekend?

  7. Lol Kyle, I wasn't aware they were allowed to do that. I see the benefit of tossing kids in moguls and parks to better their skiing, but with as crowded as bear is, probably not the best place for that. Plus I'll wager the instructors don't know shit about park etiquette either.

  8. It'll be a bitch for them to recover after tomorrow cause the window of snow making weather looks narrow for awhile. I'm surprised one bad day has em playing with dirt already. Elk lost it's few natural snow only trails but we currently have the same temps as bear right now.

  9. yeah, too early to tell, will discuss in May. BUT, I'd think people would be trying to make up for lost time since the pissy season last year, or at least try to get some nicks in the new sticks that were under the Christmas tree in 2011.

  10. Wonder if it has anything to do with the economy? I've noticed lift tickets have really gone up everywhere. It can't be cheap to take a family skiing for the day, especially if you don't have your own equipment.

That's certainly a factor too. I think ski areas have found their upper limit of what they can get out of average enthusiasts through winter loyalists. But i hear fewer and fewer people who never tried skiing talk about giving it a go, price being the biggest issue (broken limbs a very distant second ;-) Used to be the other way around.

  11. I'm noticing lack of crowds at other places as well. The weather was outstanding the last two weeks at Elk for instance, one weekend lots of snow, last weekend just plain ole average winter feel and the crowds were less than what I expected. Wondering if people just aint feeling the winter love any more? Not that i'm complaining...

  12. Be glad you tried it out for the first time now... They regarded it a couple years ago to give it more pitch because it was actually slightly graded uphill on the flat, and very few people were making it over, even straight lining it... Which is the opposite of what they wanted considering it is a fairly narrow beginner trail in places...

Interesting, didn't know that. I probably wont go on it again for awhile but it does add another cool dimension to the place. Still diggin' Tioga Spur and the Indians for my early season picks.

  13. I hear ya, tried Lehigh for the first time ever (after all the years i've skied there) and it was kinda neat with the view. Tioga spur rocked, best runs of the day easily. Tunk needs work yet but wont get any better until we get dumped on.

  14. Saurus, how was killington overall? looks good from my pooter, but hoping to score a deal on lodging next month. Weather, here we go again. 60 and wet and that goes for Elk too. Debating if i just want to stay home and mow some grass.

  15. Boulder had a great park opening day and they had alot less snow then bear.

Bear creeks park crew is lazy and worthless.

Daaaaamn... I only think management is lazy and worthless but im the bear creek hater?? Lol!!
