  1. What exactly are you looking for? How far are you willing to travel?

Key question there... how far do you want to travel. If you just want a stiff performance boot, most shops can order them. If you want a real race boot, they need to have a boot fitter on staff, and a good one at that. Race boots don't typically fit anyone well right off the bat and need allot of tweeks to work well. Otherwise you are wasting good $$$. I don't know of any great boot fitters in PA. There are allot of good ones, but anyone who stands out? Two of my racers head to VT for their work. There was a dude in Stratton who was the best in the East, but i think he moved to another mountain. Otherwise, i got good fittings for my boots at Pinnacle in Reading.

  2. Winter, it's only considered going off topic when requests are made for 'Kitten to show her b**bies. I'm not trying to be funny----it's true. And, btw, she won't do it, except in Blue's parking lot.

Is that so!? Well... i could certainly think of better parking lots in which that could be done! But i guess anywhere is fine in the long run.

  3. Hey Winter! Welcome to the site, been out on that sea doo recently? lol jk i am done for the season.....you should come up on thurs. nights. I will be racing up there this year so if you ever want a ride up let me know. I will be leaving from Kutztown...Btw I saw you at the fall fest this past weekend. I was working the used ski sale in the rental shop.

    Sorry for going off-topic....

This thread seems to be way off topic lately  Jeez, you shoulda yelled, i would have stopped over! I 'may' make some thursdays, we'll see. I have to take the Sea Doo out one more time to figure out where that leak is!! :banghead

  4. Ha, I actually know which one your daughter is because my daughter, Tylea, was behind her in line for NASTAR when the devo team was in the start house. Steph had offered for us to cut the line but Ty just wanted to take it all in by being next to all those big kids. And your's was pretty much the least big of the big kids.

You know what ranks among the coolest things ever? My oldest had come home from college and raced an ASRA with me...after all the years of gatekeeping and being a driver, I got to inspect with her and then share course reports.

Yup, she is a bit small for her age, by an inch or two. She'll be heart broken when she leaves the Devo team, thats for sure. Colleen is like her big sister and that's that. Jeez, you have one in college? wow! That's neat you can course inspect with her and share course details... as opposed to "OK, go to the right around the first gate, and to the left around the second gate...."

  5. Both girls have gone out of their way to be really encouraging to my little one who's been hanging around the NASTAR course for four years, just waiting to be old enough for the devo team. As a long time soccer coach, I especially appreciate the little things that they've done to make her really excited about this season. She's always the tiniest kid and she gets overwhelmed pretty easily, so she takes to kids like them.

I'm racing Thursday's with Artie, Chris, Andrea, and CJ...a few of us who were just independent last year combined with them because the rest of their team wasn't showing up and Jim H. was enjoying winning too much  I'm really psyched about Thursday's because I have to be at Sno every Sat/Sun for my little one, so I can't do ASRA's for a few seasons.

BTW, is the NASTAR course being moved?

The Devo team awaits! I'll have my daughter on the look-out for yours, she'll make her feel welcomed. Wish i lived closer, otherwise i'd be up there Thursdays. But no worries, i make up for lost time in the bar during the weekends  . I loved ASRA back in the day and wish i could commit to a few races, but i'm off with my 1-2's every weekend. I may be sliding down to the 4-5's in a year or two, if and when my daughter decides to race USSA. Otherwise i'll have to wait till my son gets up in years and gives it a go. He's 4, so it may be awhile. Not sure on the Nastar course! Early word was it was moving one slope over to skiers right. Our meeting is in a few weeks, i'll know more then.

  6. Ughhh... know what? I thought Livetming had a total result. instead one has to do allot of math. Somewhere, i thought, i saved the overall WS results. I'll look again. Tommy pretty much lead our boys though, With Kelly Rowland leading our girls.

  7. We've crossed paths, but mostly just know a lot of the same people. I had a girl who raced for Gus at CB, then I raced ASRA a little for four years after she went to college. Now, I have a little girl starting with Coach Steph and Colleen. Oh, and I did the Thursday Night races at Sno, but I don't think you hung at in the bar all that much.

Anyway, this board is pretty unique because---even though we sometimes argue like idiots---we have get-togethers called PASR Days and quite a few of us have been skiing together for years.

MLSC = Main Line Ski Club. Ahh yes, good ole Gus. So we may run into each other allot this year. Colleen's been a good friend for years and my daughter will be with her at least one more year, maybe 2. Words cannot describe Colleen's ability to keep those kids in line and interested in her plans for the day. Her crew will now and again stay out longer than my J1-J2 kids on a foul weather training day. Her secret involves sugar by the way :naughty

  8. I can't figure out that live timing site. whatever.... why do I feel like there is something wrong with asking specifically how

    Bergen-Blue

    Tommy-Sno

    Lauren-Blue

    Kelly-Camelback

Did? I have met all of them except Lauren and I would like to tell my son the news. Thanks.

I didn't know you had a problem viewing that site. There may also be results listed on the MARA (maine racing??) or Sunday River site. Not sure. I'll see if i can figure each one of their places out tonight when i get home. Off to bear creek for the fall fest.

  9. Welcome! Could you be so kind to post the PA kids results?

    Clicky-linky here... http://www.live-timing.com/races.php?pc=1&...=March&y=07

3/20 is the Future Star Kombi race, which was a full length race course that was Started at GS, went to SL and back to GS again, pretty cool!

3/18 was the actual shootout. It was to be 3/17, but we had that Nor'Easter socked the area with 12+ inches and they postponed the event bc no one could make it up to SR on time :banghead

Although i represented PARA, i had no PA kids on my crew for the future stars event. They take all the kids and all the coaches and jumble them up so no coach has any kids they know. I had 4 kids from SARA (one as far south as Beech Mt. in NC), a few NY'ers and two from Maine. We ended up winning the whole match out of 17 or 18 teams. We won mainly bc we had the most vertical feet skied in a 6 hour period (talk about a tired coach!!).

  10. Ha, he was kidding, Coach. TP4 would puncture an oil tanker in Alaska if it would make jibbing off icebergs any better. And I happen to know he eats baby seal meat on Ritz crackers.

Ahh, oooK. Being new, i have allot to learn about personalities i guess :paranoid And i even thougt twice before posting, thinking ;can he be for real? LOL, sorry again!

  11. It'll be interesting to see what kind of snowmaking they can get on any new trails. Do you think they will use the old portable guns from the Montage days? Can anyone get up there to see where they are actually cutting the trails? Or is it really just the new snow tubing area?
All the old guns were sent back to SMI for updating but i think they will start from scratch with that side of the mt. and prob. just T-off the pipes already in place. Then again, once all the trails are up and running, that will likely be a whole 'nother leg of the snow making system.
F*ck sno mtn, i'm boycotting them because they are cutting down trees. They dont care about the environment whatsoever. Not to mention the machinery they are using is putting green house gases into the air contributing to global warming. The disrespect people show nature now-a-days digusts me. Words cannot describe how angry I am over this.
So all mountains are supposed to be glade skiing and if you must cut a tree down, use a handsaw. :screwy
  12. Talk about a fun event! I was one of the coaches for the PARA team the last few years for the shootout and future stars. Yeah, Pa kids did very well, i was proud of them. However, by J3's, we tend to lose some ground as allot of the northern racers head to academies. That's never much of an issue for our PA racers though, they seems to understand this and take it with a grain of salt. Looking forward to this season!
